Self defense knife perfection!!!
The best self defense knife ever.I have a very large collection of knives mostly folders, with brands including Kershaw, Emerson, Zero Tolerance, Benchmade, CRKT, Spyderco, and many others. This knife is my favorite.I have the Spyderco Matriarch 2 without the Emerson wave too I've had that knife for a few years and it has been great, but the improvements made with this version make it the best self defense knife you could own.The blade is sharper than razor sharp. The Blade shape is perfect for someone that may not be skilled in knife fighting. You don't need fine motor skills to effectively use this knife. The Emerson wave feature works great the knife opens as you pull it out of your pocket. About as fast as a fixed blade. The new black finish is awesome. They have made the blade and lock bar black, it really gives it a tactical look. The pocket clip allows you to carry it in any position. This is a intimidating knife. It is definitely not sheeple friendly. If you are looking for a knife to carry for self defense you could not find a better one than this. Great for weak side carry for firearm retention, as the knife instantly deploys. This is definitely not a utility knife it is designed for self defense.I carry this knife every day along with a standard blade knife for utility purpose. This will be my go to self defense folder always.I have nothing bad to say about this knife Spyderco has always made a great knife. They have outdone themselves with this one it is perfection. If you are thinking about getting this knife Do It you won't regret it.PS. Another reviewer said the black finish is inconsistent and dull. The finish on my knife was perfect. It was consistent. It was matte but it is supposed to be so it is non reflective.

Is it worth buying?
In the time I have had the knife(1.5 months), my experiences have never given me a regret for buying the product. Every time I hold it, open it, and carry it around, I feel happy with it. I did accidentally stab my finger with it in the first 5 minutes of having it. I learned fast Its not a toy. I have a little nerve damage in that part of my finger now. Moving forward, its purpose is best used for self defense purposes. The tool is also good for people who want to camp or hike. It design is best used for cutting. I would prefer you look into pepper spray or a taser if its for self defense(lots of bad tasers out there, the ones that last are the expensive ones). Anyways, the Emerson opener(the hook thing) is very nice. It doesn't always open though. If you were pants it almost always opens(sometimes fails and opens 1/2 or 2/3rds the way open. Probably just because of a lack of experience), but doesn't open as well with shorts. The unlocking mechanism on the spine/back of the knife is very nice. Axis locks are my fav, but this is good as well. And there is a clip....its moveable if your left handed. The handle is very nice. The design etched into the handle is made just so your hands get more grip. The only thing that bothers me is that in order to make the handle light they used a plastic like material. Its seems tough, but I would prefer something else. I did test the handle by dripping some water on both sides and it didn't make any make it any harder to grip the knife. That is because of the contour of the handle. A hand perfectly grips it. Support for the index and thumb specifically. I took pictures for you to get a good idea as to what your buying. 4/5. -1 because of handle material.

Devestatingly effective blade!
(UPDATE: I've been using this knife for various tasks, and i must say having a fine point is useful for more than you would think... everything is holding up, still sharp.)If you know spyderco, i dont have to tell you this is a quality knife. The vg-10 blade performs beautifully and will not rust (even if you manage to remove the coating). The lock and frame are sufficiently strong given you use it as a self defense weapon rather than a prying tool. The wave feature works like a charm and doubles as a bottle opener. My only complaints are the lack of texture on the spine of the blade where to place the thumb and the black coating does reveal scratch marks made by my keys in my back pocket, though it hasn't peeled off yet. These things are negligible in my opinion.I would like to talk more about the blade in case there's any doubt if it cuts better than a straight edge endura. Well it does. The purpose of this knife as you know is to cut through clothing and flesh. What you may not know just by looking at it is this knife is incredibly EASY TO WIELD. You don't need to be a samurai to effortlessly make long, deep cuts with it. That's just the scary nature of the geometry.

Best I ever had
Best purpose built knife I ever had. Not good for anything but self defense! Lightweight, Wave feature works great. Be very very careful, this Blade is so sharp! It is a ripping knife and serrated for a reason. This was created for folks who need a tool to defend themselves but have no experience in fighting, to use like a tiger’s claw. Spyderco quality out of Seki City Japan! Blade steel is plenty good for what it is designed for. Won’t rust and strong. Not for cutting boxes or sawing wood, so as long as one doesn’t do those things with it, the knife will stay sharp for a very long time. Yes, serrated blades are hard to sharpen, but with Spyderco, you can mail back to Colorado, and they will sharpen it back good as new, you only pay shipping costs; great deal…or you get the Spyderco Sharpmaker and do it yourself! As long as you can hold the knife straight, the Sharpmaker will easily sharpen their serrated knives.

One if the best defensive knives on the market
It's smooth and a nasty *in a awesome way, and when you do your first spyderco flick you get it. You can feel the quality in your hand, the edge on mine came wicked sharp, and highly recommend the Emerson wave version. It's my duty knife now and I trust it for that. As an edc pick something else the serration doesn't lend itself for that if it was straight edged and an inch smaller I'd say yes. That being said this knows what it is and what it's ment for, and if you want to take it to the next level the finger ring is easy to install and for my fellow fma crew just makes it feel familiar and new

Great-looking knife. Super sharp. It'll cut whatever needs cutting.
I bought it for myself. But couldn't daily carry because it's just too beautiful to look at. So, I put it back in its box and put it away. Then, I wanted to give someone a nice gift, so I bought another as a gift. I think they liked it almost as much as I do.For yourself. As a gift. As a tool. This is a great knife.

100% the best knife you can carry in pocket
I’ve now owned 4 of them. Keep losing to em in trees or tight crawl spaces. Worth it everytime though. The best knife. Easily. 99% of the time I’m opening boxes. Comes out fast and opens every god damn time. Only cut me the first time I was figuring out the opening feature. Guy in a gun store Demo’d it. I stick it into my thigh so fast we had to leave the store to go to Arby’s where they have a quick coagulant kit to stop the bleeding. I was dumb. Hit know that I know it? Best friend. Naked without it. If I don’t die in my sleep? I hope i die with this knife in my hand. Make sure to get the rigid ranger work pants that come wi the a leather dog built into your right pocket. It will eventually destroy your favorite left pant pocket. But also worth it. Just a fabulous evolution of the knife. Love it 100%

Selbstverteidigungsmesser in üblicher Spyderco Qualität
Mit mittelfester Schraubensicherung - also leicht aufzubekommen. Traumhaft!
