This gray card is to provide a standard reference object for exposure determination in photography. Its apparent brightness (and exposure determination) therefore does not depend on its orientation relative to the light source. By placing a gray card in the scene to be photographed, oriented at a defined angle relative to the direction of the incident light, and taking a reading from it with a reflected light meter, The photographer can be assured of consistent exposures across their photographs. In addition to providing a means for measuring exposure, A gray card provides a convenient reference for white balance, or color balance, allowing the camera to compensate for the illuminant color in a scene. Gray cards can be used for in-camera white balance or post-processing white balance. Many digital cameras have a custom white balance feature. A photo of the gray card is taken and used to set white balance for a sequence of photos. For post-processing white balance, A photo of the gray card in the scene is taken, and the image processing software uses the data from the pixels in the gray card area of the photo to set the white balance point for the whole image. Many serious photographers or hobbyists consider gray cards an essential part of the digital photography process.

GREAT for the price.
Great for obtaining correct exposure when using manual or other settings... even auto. Also good to bounce a little light back onto subjects face in closeups or block overhead light that causes dark eyes and shadows on face. Very well made and unbelieveable low price for the quality and function. I wouldn't be without it. Collapses into a very small, easy to carry cover.

Exactly what I was looking for. Well made and adjusting white balance and color correction. In a pinch it can help with lighting too.

great for white balancing and basic focusing
This works great for white balance and basic focusing. It's large enough to put on a stage and be 50' away to white balance under stage lights. But evidently, I have the dexterity of a drunken platypus trying to get this folded back up in the bag.

A nice, good-sized
A nice, good-sized, and convenient gray and white screen. Quality is good and it folds us easily for transport. The painted target is great for focusing as well, and the gray works well for white balancing and exposure setting for video.

Folding Gray Scale a reference
This is a sturdy, well-built, folding 18% gray reference that can be used as a reference for metering in manual mode on DSLR cameras. It folds in the same manner as common windshield reflectors used to shade the inside of cars.

Great 18% grey and white balance card
Great 18% grey and white balance card. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that the black piping around the edges was slightly unraveled when it arrived. Not sure if it was an isolated issue or if there is a design flaw that makes this issue more widespread. Wasn't a big deal so I kept it as is. Decent product for the price.
