USB 2.0 to VGA Adapter, USB to VGA Monitor Converter for Windows, 1440x900 (no support for macOS/ChromeOS/Linux)

This product does exactly what I wanted. I am writing a review so that others who are trying to add an external monitor capability to their netbook (specifically the Dell Inspiron DUO) can rest assured that this solution works. First try, right out of the box.My problem was that while my little flip-screen DUO does everything I want in a computer for travel, I sometimes need to bring my BIG laptop along if I want to connect to a projector. This is a big deal weight-wise and a hassle as well. I researched solutions and it appeared that a USB2-to-VGA external device would work, but I couldn't find any reviews making it clear that it would work for certain.I contacted StarTech.com's technical support and they got back to me very quickly. They advised buying the unit somewhere with a good return policy because they had seen some "issues" with touch screen devices. I was looking at a competing device and contacted their tech support with the same question and got a "we're sure it will work." I went with StarTech because I liked their response time AND their honesty. Turns out, it works just fine.One tip: Don't install from the enclosed CD at all. Just download the latest driver installation from the StarTech website. The only thing that happens if you install from the CD is that you have to then uninstall it to get the updated drivers installed. My mistake, but it would've been more clever to just tell me to get the drivers online and not bother with the CD. Anyway, a few minutes wasted time, but otherwise no big deal.After getting the drivers installed, I connected everything as directed in the brief manual. And it works! No fuss, no muss. Upon recognizing the device, it went immediately into dual monitor mode and mirrored everything from my screen to the projector. I'm good to go.By the way, it works just fine in touch screen mode as well. I didn't START the computer in tablet mode, but when I switched from keyboard to tablet mode, it had no problem paging through a PowerPoint slide presentation and showing that on the projector.UPDATE: Used it on a trip. I had to restart my laptop a couple of times as it "lost" the connection to the projector (or the projector lost it). But, after that, it ran like a charm for 2.5 hours without a glitch. EXCELLENT product.

Not being a "techie" the idea of dealing with graphics cards and all seemed really daunted when I had a need for adding an extra monitor to my laptop so I could create a fully functioning travel system for my husband. This device is so simply does the trick. Completely plug and play. We have been using it for a month now and have absolutely no complains.Just a quick note if you are using it (like we are) to add an monitor to a laptop - 1) you will have to change your display settings on your laptop, to use the monitor you have connected as an "additional" monitor 2) if your laptop goes to sleep, this device sometimes gets disconnected- so if you don't see the blue light blinking, just unplus and plug it back in.

This adapter works satisfactorily and is easy to install. Be advised, however, that the resolution on this adapter is limited. The best that it can do is 1680 x 1050. My HP 25 inch monitor supports much higher resolution, so this adapter is limiting. Further, this adapter is somewhat slower than an on-board video card. For ordinary computer usage this does work satisfactorily.On the plus side of the ledger, installation was easy to accomplish. You do have to use the supplied installation CD; installation is not plug and play. Nonetheless, installation only took a couple of minutes and I accomplished it with no problems whatever. Bottom line: if 1680 x 1050 is the best resolution that you will need, this is a good adapter, and it only requires USB 2.0. RJB.

I read negative reviews on anything first and foremost before buying anything. I ordered this and it is day one but it is working fine. My suggestion to people who said it did not work. A cd comes with it, install it, follow the instructions and you will be fine. Also make sure that your video card is not a cheap POS because although it is a USB hook up the drivers communicate the information from the UBS port to the Video card. so I got news for you if its not working your card probably does not have enough memory to support it. I have two monitors hooked up with different resolutions on each one and they are working well. Also do not plug into a USB hub and expect it to work. My hub does not work for anything except keyboard and mouse hook up. I suggest this because if you follow the instructions then there should not be an issue.

This is VGA only so let's start there. It's not going to give you a stunning presentation in VGA mode. BUT, I bought this to take advantage of Zoom's ability to do dual monitor and have for example a Powerpoint presentation on one monitor and your attendees full screen on another one. I could have bought (did actually buy) a video card to install on my mobo but before I did that I tried this little wonder.I'm able to do exactly what I wanted which is a dual-monitor Zoom session.Works great so far and so simple to install.StarTech great job on this. I've used your hard drive copiers in the past and they work well also.

I've been using this adapter for about a week now and it is working, but it chews up most of my 4GB of RAM. I'm going to upgrade to 8GB to see if that fixes the lagging problem I'm experiencing right now. Unfortunately, I'm using it for a trading set up off my laptop and I literally can't afford to have any lag time or slowness. My trading platform keeps banging up against max memory available. I'll update after I upgrade RAM to see if performance improves.If you have a more static need for an additional monitor, I would say this would not be a problem, but for a trader, this cost effective solution could be a very costly one indeed.

I have needed a second monitor for quite some time. I tried another adapter and it didn't work. I was ecstatic that this adapter installed so easily and worked wonderfully till it quit working. The computer said that the adapter and the monitor were working correctly. But when I turned the monitor on - the display "no signal". So I had to have someone come and get my second monitor running. Please do not waste the money for this adapter. I was not able to get a refund because of the elapsed time.

Does what it is supposed to - be an alternative to a full-price video card. As far as I can tell, it works just fine. However, it is a tad bit slower than the onboard card, as one is dedicated hardware, and the other is an addon. Now, don't get me wrong, when you are browsing the web or typing up stuff in Word or Excel, you can't tell a difference, but graphics intensive tasks like video playback (sometimes) or click-dragging and shaking a window in place (all the time) can make it struggle a bit, but by no means should the prospective buyer feel that it is constantly slow, far from it.Buy it, it'll do just fine.

Love it, easy installed to have dual monitor working desk. Stable and compatible with refurbished computer.

Se rompió el display de una AllInOne y era usb 2.0, me sirvió perfecto aunque fue complicdo instalar los drivers debido a que no se veía bien el monitor.

Brilliant product! Did exactly what I needed/wanted it to do without habing to take my PC apart to replace any graphics card. Will definitely recommend this item to anyone who wants to have two or three monitors set up on their computers. This means I will be abe to effectively multitask with my uni work and can already feel my productivity going through the roof!Also... I tried a cheaper standard USB to VGA adaptor off of eBay but it DID NOT work. Definitely worth the money to get one of these for success first time.
