One of the first knives that started my interest in Spyderco, over 12 yrs ago!
First off, I've purchased the plane edge satin steel version and the Black version of this knife. I purchased it here off of Amazon over 11 years ago (the plain version). I own dozens upon dozens of knives. In my pictures, I have the Black version. Its pictured with a Spyderco Ambitious, a Spyderco Sage 2, a Spyderco Stretch, a Kershaw skyline, and an Ontario Rat II, for reference. It's a hobby bug you can catch. Something about the designs, the materials, the fit and finish. How smooth it opened and closes. The lines of the shape. It's an art, most definitely.I'd like to start by saying that the build quality of this knife for the price, there is not many that compare. I know since then, there has been many budget-friendly companies with their D2 steals and whatnot. I still stand behind that. This is a knife you purchase to try out Spyderco. All of this has been mentioned, the g10 of the handle is a material that will help you get better purchase on it the handle when your heads are wet or compromised. It is a good handle material. The blade steel 8cr13mov, very decent for a blade steel. Decent for the blade snobby crowd. I admit I can get a bit snobby. Not too bad though. It will hold an edge quite well and will sharpen quite well. Theres a trade off usually with steels. If a blade steel holds its edge incredibly well, it should be just as hard to sharpen. It may also chip because of how hard the steel may be. With this knife, you can just let the knife be a knife. You can put it through its paces and it will come on out on top. You don't have to baby it, you don't have to overlook it. You can just take it and use it and not feel too bad. And it will take what you throw at it and more, with common sense in mind (knives are not pry bars). In summary, if you're looking for a value folding knife, this knife still holds up, absolutely! If you're looking for a knife to try spider go out, go for it. If you like the way it looks, go for it. Worst case scenario, there is a return policy. This opinion is coming from a person who has handled hundreds of a folding knives. Once that cost into the thousands of dollars. I tell you this is a great knife. I still love it. This is one of the few knives I would recommend as a gift to someone who will be actually using the knife, putting it through its paces so to speak. Definitely definitely recommend it. Thank you for reading. Please, let me know if I have been of help.

Great knife
Great everyday carry knife. Takes abuse and keeps a good edge. The blade is easily opened using the hole in the blade. Use it almost every day.

It’s Tenacious.
The Tenacious isn’t the best knife out there, especially for the price. 60 bucks is a little high but it’s still a quality EDC knife. The 8cr13mov comes super sharp out of the box. There are four ways to mount the pocket clip. Tip up or tip down, right or left handed. So that’s a cool feature. I like the position of the cut out for the liner lock. The blade shape is cool, I’ve never had a Spyderco and I like it a lot. Really flickable blade. This is the knife I am currently carrying. Sweet knife.UPDATE: I love this knife. The more I carry it and use it the better it gets. I use on all types of stuff, boxes, thick tacky tape, packaging and I haven't had to sharpen or strop it. There is a reason so many people love it. Excellent knife.

honest review from a lefty who's willing to cope, but wishing for another version
short answer: I'm a lefty, and while I'd prefer the knife be left-hand friendly, I still like it a lot, and carry it almost daily. gave a 4/5, but it's almost a 4.5/5. if only they had half points...longer: bought this knife after hearing raving reviews on forums and on youtube, but honestly; there is one glaring issue that I wish spyderco would address: why no lefty option? It's a popular enough knife, why not just make 1/10 of them set up left handed? even 1/20? the knife is pretty great, though. just about anything you need to cut, it'll cut. and as a slicer, it's great. not quite up to the level of my opinel, but still an amazing knife for food prep and such. not the best when it comes to cutting wood, although that's not really the intent, now is it? the handles don't impress me much except for the rigidity and 4 option (tip up/down left/right pocket) clip. the steel is good if you don't let it stay wet, and it'll hold an edge for a while. When it needs to be sharpened, I use a stone and then some 2000 grit paper, and the mirror edge comes back in about 10 minutes tops.my opinionswhere the knife goes right:blade shape and grind- excellent slicer, excellent cutter, and very aesthetically pleasingopening mechanism- spydie hole. comfy, mod-able, doesn't protrude... nuff said.clip- four options, why wouldn't you do this?liners and scales- i don't care that they're g10. would have preferred micarta, but the construction and durability is amazingwhere the knife goes wrong:liner lock- right handed onlysteel option- only one option, and it could be betterhandle- could be shaped a bit better. while it's not uncomfortable, I'd have liked a bit more keeping my hand centered on the handle around the "pommel" and "guard" areasone note: I never really tried tip-up before (as I never really had the option) but I decided to give it a shot with this one. I also wanted to put a lanyard on the knife, but didn't want to limit myself to just tip-up (because of the clip going around the lanyard hole), so instead of looping the lanyard through the lanyard hole, I looped it around the tube that forms the hole, going between the liners. I used gutted paracord so that the blade wouldn't cut it apart when the knife was closed. I happen to like this lanyard option better anyway. I also tried out the spydie hole zip-tie wave mod, and quickly disposed of that. I wasn't fond of it at all, and am glad it's not a permanent mod.
