Great little machine
I like it a lot. It's size and portability is exactly what I wanted. It's true that it doesn't cool like an air conditioner, nor can it cool a whole room, but it throws out a stream of cold air that is very effective at close range. It draws very little power and the water tank will last for 4 or 5 hours before needing refilling (depending on what speed it's on). I also like the specially designed funnel provided to fill the tank with... a nice touch. And the soft blue light is pretty cool too!

Pretty Good for what it is
The technology could not be simpler you fill the water and a highly absorbent filter absorbs it and then a small very quiet fan blows air through the filter. On a particularly hot day I tend to reduce the amount of cold water I put in the device at any one time and instead add some ice cubes, which is enough to last a couple of hours at a time. It's not essential but does make a slight difference. Now if you are expecting this to cool down a whole room forget it - it's a fraction of the price of a fully installed air conditioning system for a reason. There's no refrigerant, compressor, condenser, inverter, evaporator, holes in walls, a dedicated power supply, internal and external units, a team of installers or electricity costs that will make your eyes water. Instead the Evapolar is simply a 9w fan that runs off USB that pushes air through water and delivers cool air onto your body - cool enough for comfort whilst working from home. Mine is sat on my desk just in front of me on fan setting 2. Its very quiet and nobody notices when i'm on a conference call - except me as I'm not overheating. I also own a desk fan but that just swirls the hot air around whereas the Evapolar genuinely cools me. Furthermore, I have sensed zero humidity in the room as the water evaporates - I suspect a hot cup of tea will generate significantly more humidity in the air. I should also point out that I am fortunate enough to have air conditioning in some areas of my home and was considering having it fitted in my office. However, the fact that the Evapolar can keep me cool at my desk by providing a focused beam of cool air is good enough for me. Just to add - water and electricity don't mix so the trick is to fill the water when the device is not connected. Filling the water could not be easier and spillage would take some doing but I did manage it whilst picking up a phone call. I just let the components dry out before switching it on.

Mould growing & bad smell after 1 month
I purchased this one month ago and it worked well for the first month. However, a bad smell started to develop and when I opened it I found the back of the cartridge was covered in mould. I specifically purchased this cooler because it makes claims about this problem which ended up not being true. I expected to replace the cartridges periodically but at > £30 per cartridge, replacing them every month is not practical so I have given up on this device and am left with an expensive bit of e-waste. I contacted their support who were friendly but were more focused on denying the problem than helping me.

It cools you and provides clean air.
I bought this for my daughter in the UK. They have been having a heat wave. She says she would give it high ratings and would recommend the device for individual cooling.

Helps a little - but don't expect icy cold
This isn't a bad little device and definitely helps when positioned very close. In my case it has been positioned a little less than a metre away from me on a desk set to the 2nd from lowest setting. At this level it is pretty quiet and does seem to help a small amount. Because of the water being slowly added into the room it also doesn't dry out your eyes as regular fans do. I found that adding very cold water (from the fridge) seemed to help slightly although the reality is that this isn't powerful enough to lower the temperature of a room in the really warm weather. It just makes the air very close to the cooler slightly more pleasant. If you want something just to help a little then this might be worth a shot, but if you really need "proper" cooling when it gets really hot, then look at air conditioning instead. Finally, I got this for well under £50 and when you see the inside of the device, that honestly seems at the high end of where it should be. I notice that today it is significantly more expensive. I can't honestly recommend this unit at the current price.

An effective personal cooler, but don't expect miracles !
I've used this over the recent heatwaves, and it has provided some comfort. My experience, living in UK, with relatively high humidity, is a temperature reduction of 3 to 4 degrees (Celsius) directly at the front, so about 2 to 3 degree cooler a meter away, which is pleasantly cooler, and the best you can expect from this type of 'swamp' cooler. The cartridge that soaks up water from the reservoir for evaporation by the fan, thus providing the cooling effect, is larger in surface area than similar devices, which makes it more effective. However, the cartridge will need to be replaced regularly, to avoid any unpleasant smells. It has 4 speed settings. I use the second one, which seems to be the best compromise between noise and performance, being quiet enough for use in the bedroom, as well as the desk, the fan noise is just white noise, with no annoying whining or rattling. The reservoir is 700ml, and I get around 3 hours use before a refill is required, and I'm just using water straight out of tap. I paid £75 for it during a heatwave, which I think is a bit more than fair value, but so far has been well worth it for personal comfort !

Compact robust and effective.
Absolutely invaluable kit for a heatwave. If you’re in the airflow with cooling on it makes a huge difference to your personal well-being. It’s powerful enough to keep you cool even if you’re lying in bed a few feet away. Safe to leave running as it has no water pump so doesn’t matter if it runs dry. A tailored funnel is provided for filling up. Sadly too small to fit ice cubes in, but you can use iced water!

Not worth £100
I was lucky as paid just shy of £50 for this which imo is the very max of what it's worth. It does a decent job of keeping you cool as a desk fan and is nice and quiet barring the top 2 settings. It appears to be very well made and is an attractive, compact item to keep on your desk, especially with the nice ambient light. My only concern at the moment is replacement cartridges and their cost but for now I'm reasonably happy with the purchase and it is keeping me nice and cool. It's decent and does its job but it definitely is not worth over £100 though and I would not have bought it at that price.

really effective in keeping me cool
Great product, was really effective in keeping me cool working at my desk at home. Just note, it is really small won't cool a room or anything, but when you point it on you works well. Only annoying thing was I the light is always on, so I couldn't use it at night as the light was too bright to sleep with. Still worth the 5 stars!

disappointed..
I am very disappointed with this product. It was not cheap, and I expected it to last much longer than a few days. When I first received it, it worked very well. It was nice, cool, and performed exactly as expected. However, after only 4 days of use, the power stopped working and the fans completely stopped working as well. The product is now unusable. I have tried turning it on again, but there is no power and the fans do not run anymore. Considering how quickly it failed, I believe the item is defective. I would like a replacement or a full refund. This is very disappointing because it was working perfectly at first and then suddenly stopped working after only a few days.

Perfect for Remote Work on Hot Days
The hot days have started here in Spain, and since I work remotely from my home office, it was very important for me to keep my workspace comfortable. I found this device and was really curious to see what it could do. I ordered it, and it was delivered to my home about a week later. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I filled the system with water and tested several different modes. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. The device does exactly what I expected it to do. I set the airflow to maximum, and it provides a pleasant stream of cool air. It is not extremely cold, but it is more than enough to help me work comfortably at my desk. I would definitely recommend it, especially to anyone who works remotely.
