Absolutely loved this book!
Acapulco detective Emilia Cruz returns from Mexico City and is given a six-week medical leave to recover from her traumatic experience. Life seems to have other plans. Her stepfather, the simple knife sharpener Ernesto, is kidnapped by a vicious gang and held for a two million dollar ransom. Pressure mounts as the kidnappers send videos, the police negotiation team appears to be worthless, Russian gangsters are tearing up the place, Emilia's former partner Silvio gets promoted to Lieutenant and now heads up her division, and Kurt Rucker, Emilia's on again off again boyfriend is called back to London Headquarters. It's nonstop action and a great read. I love this series!

A heart-pounding mystery!
This seventh installment featuring feisty Detective Emilia Cruz is just as fast paced and thrilling as the others in the series. In Russian Mojito, Emilia experiences tense situations with co-workers, family members, and a love interest as she unearths layers of evidence in her most challenging case yet. Masterfully plotted, this mystery plays out in ways you’ll never expect. Highly recommended.

Another ripping Emilia Cruz tale
Perhaps the most action-filled book to date, it has the signature characteristics of Carmen Amato's story-telling, only the pace is even faster. A lot of things fell into place in this storyline, which was very cleverly constructed and kept my interest to the very end.

Whew.....What a book!!
Loved the action of the story and the fact that Detective Kruz is a woman among men! She keeps up with them and surpasses them. Full of suspense, terror and love. Carmen Amato really knows how to hold one's attention. Once I started this action packed story.... could not put it down! You will not be bored reading this one!!

Russians as the bad guys , again?
It is not another spy vs spy tale although it has it's moments. Familiar people litter the story and Emilia still has issues with several of them. If you're tired of whining female characters this might be just the book for you.

Russians and Miami do not mix!
This is the second book by Carmen Amato that I've read, and let me tell you, she keeps the suspense up and the characters surprising. Taut story line, good characterizations, you can almost believe it is a true story, the way she writes. If I tell you too much, it will spoil it for you, so please go and read it yourself! You will NOT regret it.
