Intel Core i5-4670k Haswell CPU and it is awesome!
First off let me start by saying that this is a really, really great CPU. This is the chip I decided to go with when building my gaming/work PC because of many reasons. First, it is the newest chip Intel has to offer and it is really a solid chip for the money. Second, it is overclockable and does really well with gaming and pretty much any other task you may throw at it; I've done some video rendering because I record my gameplay and it was wickedly fast at rendering and processing the 3.5GB video, so 5 stars there. Third, it is good with power consumption, it is better than it's Ivy bridge predecessor in that matter. I do quite a bit of gaming, not everyday but whenever I get the chance and it runs super smooth with all the games I've thrown at it even Crysis 3 which for those who know, that game is the most resource demanding game to be on the PC platform because I have a GTX780 and I still can't fully max it out(for the most part I can but a setting is on medium i think). I am a network engineer and student so I run a lot of programs that are quite demanding for my system such as having multiple VMs up and running, Packet tracers, multiple tabs on browsers and when I game, I have the GeForce Experience Shadowplay technology running which allows me to record my gameplay and I have not had any problems with my machine as I am still able to do everything I need to without the CPU breaking a sweat, it hovers around 60% used or so. This CPU however, does run pretty hot but with Arctic Silver and a dedicated heat sink you should be alright since I got my temperatures in BIOS running at around 31 degrees Celsius and under load around 47 and with games and stuff it will go up to 80 degrees, so those are pretty good temperatures for the CPU. The heat threshold for the CPU is also quite high so there's that fact to give you some peace of mind. Also make sure the PC is in a wide and open area with good cable management, and ventilation set up and by that I mean make sure the fans are positioned in a way that it brings the hot air out from the case and cool air into the case, that will help with temperatures as well. If you have a liquid cooling system in place then heat from the CPU will be no problem. Overall, I am quite overly content with this CPU because it offers the power I need without jeopardizing anything else and it's overclockable so you can bring out even more power from this guy if need be. Running at stock it still offers quite a lot of performance because it also has Turbo Boost technology 2.0 in place that bumps up the clock speed to around 3.8GHz from it's stock 3.4GHz if it needs the extra power but you can overclock this to around 4.6-4.7GHz I've seen so try it out but make sure you know what you're doing if the CPU isn't stable then it can damage the CPU indefinitely. Keep in mind, if you do decide to go with this CPU which I definitely recommend you won't have to upgrade anytime soon. If you're a gamer you should know that games are taking advantage of resources more and more with the coming years and with this CPU it gives you the ability to not worry if your CPU will be able to handle it;given you need a good GPU as well for your machine to be future-proof. Either way, you will not regret getting this CPU because it really is a great one and at this moment it is currently $209.99 which is fantastic since I paid $20 dollars more. I do hope my review has given you some insight on this CPU and my experience with it so you could make your choice of which CPU would best fit your needs!

I love Haswell
Recently I decided to build a PC when I was confronted with wanting a new PC or sticking with my old one. My choices were the 3rd gen cores of course but when Haswell came out I decided I might as well go with it. Haswell has very little improvement over the previous gen cores but it is still great base to start with if you are just getting into PC building. This CPU is very responsive and at 3.8 GHz at max load it is very efficient. This CPU only uses as much power as needed and it is very stable for heavy workloads and intense gaming sessions. I primarily bought this CPU for gaming purposes and not much else. I chose it over my previous AMD Trinity PC that was useful but not capable of what I wanted it to do. UPDATE: 4/16/14 After substantial use and overclocking and under clocking I am confident in saying that CPU is very reliable and very responsive. I use it for games mainly and word processing and web browsing and while it is a quad core with 4 threads it still runs Crysis 3 at max settings similar to it's hyper threaded cousins in the i7 family. As any gamer knows Crysis is one of the few games that takes advantage of the extra threads in the i7 line-up but comparing the 4770K to the 4670K I see little gains from the i7 for $100 more. This CPU does have the tendency to run very hot, I think I hit 89 Celsius one day while running the Windows Experience Index. With these temps in mind I recommend at least a larger cooler to keep the heat in check. if you are a gamer that wants a fast quad core CPU that you can overclock I really recommend this chip unless you have the cash to spare for the i7 just to show off. As for anything else I have not tried to use it in rendering programs or anything CAD related as I use an AMD GPU which are not as optimized for that kind of task as an NVIDIA GPU. Now as to the chip's iGPU, it is an Intel HD 4600 with a base clock of 300 MHz with a turbo up to 1.3 GHz at max load given the right thermal and power conditions. This onboard graphics chip is capable of HD video up to 1080p but with some higher end motherboards you can hit 4K resolutions with aid from the motherboard. Overall this is a very decent chip and I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to build a mid to high end PC. This Chip is Amazing
I just recently purchased this chip and a new motherboard so I could switch away from my AMD FX8350. This isn't going to be an "I hate AMD" type of review, but I do think each chip has its own place in the market and which you should buy depends heavily on what you play and if you're willing to gamble on the future. I should also note that I used the FX8350 for a year, and I only switched out the motherboard and CPU and kept everything else the same, so I'm in a good position to really compare the difference between the two without a ton of extra variables. I haven't overclocked my new i5 yet as I'm giving the thermal paste some time to cure, so I'll be comparing this stock i5 @ 3.4GHz to my AMD FX8350 that was running @ 4.5GHz 24/7. FIrst off, this chip is amazing, even at stock speeds. My game of choice right now (Guild Wars 2) runs much smoother than on my previous chip and it does so with higher graphics settings than I was running before. This chip is awesome at single-core performance, so on games that only use a few cores it's quite amazing how much of an improvement it makes. I'm also seeing quite an improvement in other MMO style games like WoW, where I'm not getting the same framerate drops that I was getting before when there are a lot of other people on screen. In first person shooters, I'm seeing performance that is the same or better than I was seeing before on my overclocked FX8350. However, this is where they have been the closest so far. A lot of new FPS engines are taking better advantage of the 8 cores in the FX series chips, and that will only get better as companies get used to programming games for the new consoles (that just so happen to run 8 core AMD chips in them). However, this 4670k is still fast enough that it more than keeps up, and on a lot of games I was getting a much smoother feeling. Even if both chips stay at 60 FPS most of the time, the i5 doesn't drop frames nearly as much when you do a quick 180 degree turn like the FX8350 would. It feels much faster, even if it's not that much faster on paper when doing benchmarks. I don't do a lot of video rendering so I can't really comment there, but navigating around Windows 7 64 bit feels just as fast as it ever did, and actually Alt-Tabbing out of a running video game is quite a bit faster than it was before. I haven't encountered anything yet where I've noticed a negative difference going from 8 cores down to only 4. My boot time is also a few seconds faster, but that could be my new motherboard more than the CPU. So the big question: Should you buy this chip or go with the FX8350? If you haven't already guessed from my review so far, GET THIS CHIP. I don't hate AMD and I don't love Intel. Having compared the two chips, the Intel 4670k is simply better for gaming in today's market. If you do a lot of video rendering and other tasks that utilize all 8 cores, the FX8350 is an awesome chip, but if you're looking to build a gaming PC this is the chip to get. It's a bit more expensive, but for an FX8350 and a good motherboard you're looking a difference of maybe 20-40 dollars. Trust me, it's worth the difference. This chip feels like what the developers had in mind when they created their games, and that's mostly why I switched. I no longer have to worry if the developers of a game that's coming out have optimized it for 8 cores. I know that this chip will eat it up, and will eat everything up for years to come. The FX8350 is a really powerful chip in desperate need of more developer buy-in. With the new consoles finally coming out, that developer buy-in may be just down the road. For now, though, this is the chip to get for playing games and I don't regret the money I just spent to switch things up (especially after I sell my old stuff on Craigslist). THIS LITTLE THING GOT BALLS
Well I can honestly say... This blew me completely off my feet through the wall and into the kitchen... It hurt.. Haha anyway, I would classify this as the best gaming processor imaginable for the money. ( I HAVE EXPEREICNE WITH AMD ) I recently updated from a Fx8350 and a 7970 System, to my new r9 290 i5 4670k build. I was kind of sketched out because, I was going from an 8 core cpu to a 4 core cpu? I was really impatient I was saving for an i7 but i got too excited. But let me tell you... I dont regret that choice... Not even the slightest bit! Compared to my Fx8350 I didnt get a frame boost. ( I actually did 1-3 fps ) but the games are smoother. Not a whole lot of sudden drops in frames in intense situations as I did with a 8350 . ( I did run the 7970 with my i5 4670k just to clarify it just wasn't because the GPU upgrade ) Not to mention, In games I averaged a few more fps then normal. Especially Dayz Mod. I now got a 4-5 fps boost. Which is really nice Haha. ( Fx8350 was at 4.8GHz ) Now im still running stock clocks and im getting equal and in some cases better performance. ( Not any less performance ) The thermals on this thing.. At stock beautiful much much lower than AMD has been with their vishera or bulldozer cpu's. But on load with a stock cooler? 75C +??? Thats kind of sketchy. Curses you 22nm Process.... Either way, greatprocessor. I have mine cooled with a h100i. Full load on fans and pump. But when i stress test this thing on stock .... Idle temps stayed the same... I never ever have ran into a situation even running p.95 and cinebench... An Access of 45C ( Intel doesnt reccomend a excess of 72C on the core ) You know what that means??:) .............. OVERCLOCKING I highly recommend for gaming enthusiasts you go high end on the motherboard. I sadly thought mine was good enough ( h87-d3h ) Its good but I cannot overclock for the living hell.. Not even like 200Mhz.. unless im doing it wrong ( If any of you guys know please respond or add me via skype? : bubagumm64 ) Anywho, I reccomend going higher end like 150$ on a motherboard.. With decent VRM's and mosfit cooling. But if their is another cheap mobo that can overclock great! This is the first time in a long time I went intel again so Im not completely caught up with all the new lga 1150 boards and their limits.. But on AMD motherboards I know the ins and outs of things.. ANYWAY.... BUY THIS PROCESSOR I SWEAR YOU WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER REGRET IT... ( Unless you run ivy bridge.. then this really isnt worth your time )

Works great for gaming
Recently put this into my rig to replace my fx-8150. It's doing excellently and could mildly overclock without a hitch. I'm running two 780's and this cpu performs nicely at stock. It did tend to bottleneck certain games, but it's not extremely noticeable. Overclock it a tiny bit to, say, 4.3ghz, and I can see myself being able to run games on ultra on my 1440p monitor for a few years at least. Pros: Essentially tied with even top of the line i7's in terms of gaming performance Overclocks well, thermals are great with a hyper 212 evo, even at 4.6ghz Ideal for gaming Cons: If you do any video or photo editing, you might want something with hyperthreading, like a 4770 4 cores. This is plenty for gaming right now, but both consoles use amd cpu's with more cores, and guaranteed within this generation, games will take full advantage of all 8 of their console's cores This is a great sweet spot in terms of price/performance for gaming and everyday usage. Even without hyperthreading, this thing will carry you through a lot of this generation.

The master gaming CPU.
If you are considering this Vs AMD. Stop! After owning both I have to say this will save some grief later own. I owned AMD 8core clocked at 5ghz with water cooling paired with a 660ti. Performance seemed fine with high setting BF4 ( 50FPS). I wanted to max BF4 on 64 player maps. I added a 2nd 660ti. With ultra settings on BF4 with 660ti SLI the Amd 8 core had nasty dips. I switched to this cpu. Even at stock clocks paired with 660ti SLI my dips in BF4 are gone. it stays above 60fps always now. When I was GPU bottled necked( one mid range GPU) the weaker amd cpu was fine. This CPU doesnt care if you are cpu bound it still pwns. unfortunately its only a small upgrade from sandy/ivy and if you already own an i5 or above from the 1155 socket I suggest you wait this round out as your performance increase will be very slight.

Fast & cool. A heart of $1,000 gaming PC.
This went into my buddy's Z87 Gaming PC build. Unfortunately AMD CPUs these days can only compete at the budget level. Runs very cool and crunches through any FPS or RTS games he throws at it. Didn't bother installing custom heat sink as the stock is plenty (I have Thermalright Ultra 120 on my 2500K). I could have overclocked it easily but it has plenty of power out of the box. budget performance
***returning the one I bought from Amazon as I found it cheaper locally this weekend*** As for the product itself, it is a great component - works effortlessly to perform at super fast speeds. I am able to handle multiple process and bounce around windows 8 features without issue. The processor is a great buy if your considering an i7-4770. The difference is mainly in price you are paying almost $150 more for only 2mb more in cache and some hyper threading capabilities - which unless you will be doing some intensive video editing you would not really need. (also please note that I debated getting an AMD FX-8350 - i did some research on cpuboss.com and several other websites like tomshardware.com, and found that the performance between the two was marginal and the i5 beats out the AMD FX in almost every category). This product also comes unlocked allowing you to OC the CPU to a higher ghz. I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants performance without breaking the bank.

Lo encontré barato y por eso lo compré
En rendimiento es igual que el i5 4690k, solo que éste puede que tenga un pequeño problema con la interfaz térmica. Compré este porque mi placa madre es z87 y necesito actualizarle la BIOS para que pueda reconocer un procesador Haswerl-refresh, así que para evitarme problemas conpré éste. Si tu placa madre es z97, compra mejor el 4690k. Si vas a tener problemas para actualizar la BIOS mejor compra otra placa madre, porque éste en precio normal es más caro que el 4690k.

Overclock facile
Trés facile à overclocker, même en auto avec carte Asus Z87A. Passer en très stable (depuis 1 mois sans plantage) de 3.4Ghz à 4.126Ghz. Essai même, toujours en auto à 4.9Ghz soit 45% d'overcloking et reste stable pendant test OCCT mais plante dans la durée. Doit être affiné en manuel. Par contre avec un ventirad Be quiet Dark Rock C1 en usage normal le ventilo ne dépasse pas 420t/mn et une température de 28°. Overclock de 25% et température max sous OCCT durant une h de 71 ° et un ventilo à 750t/mn seulement. Poussé en overclock à 4.9Ghz une température de seulement 82° et un ventilateur quasiment à fond à 1450 t/mn (max 1500 t/mn). Très bon CPU. A l'usage offre de bonnes perfs.

Ottima potenza al giusto prezzo
Il prodotto è sicuramente ottimo. E' un processore quad core senza hyperthreading, quindi il sistema operativo vedrà 4 thread, uno per ogni core. Questa è la principale differenza con il fratello maggiore i7-4770k (assieme ad un piccolo boost di frequenza a favore di quest'ultimo). Analizziamo alcuni aspetti: Prestazioni: è un processore dalle ottime performance per ogni tipo di applicazioni. La frequenza base è molto elevata e le performance pure sono eccellenti. In applicazioni che non adottano un multithreading spinto le prestazioni sono praticamente pari all'i7. Per chi è adatto: sicuramente è la scelta migliore per tutti coloro che non fanno uso pesante di applicazioni multithread. Solo per attività come editing video massiccio o rendering infatti si vedono differenze prestazionali con il fratello maggiore. Per tutti gli altri ambiti, multimedia e gaming in primis, le differenze non sono realmente apprezzabili. Tanto per fare un esempio in un gioco come Battlefield 4, il cui motore è nativamente multithread, le differenze con l'i7 sono comunque irrisorie. Con tutti gli altri giochi, non nativamente multithread tali differenze si riducono ulteriormente. Overclock: premetto che non ho mai montato il dissipatore in dotazione, ma l'ho subito sostituito con un Noctua NH-U9B SE2. Questa è la versione k del processore, quindi con moltiplicatore sbloccato. Che dire, il mio esemplare si è comportato benissimo. L'ho portato a 4,7ghrz mantenendo il sistema stabile e non superando mai i 60° di temperatura. Dopodiché l'ho riportati a 4,3ghrz e l'ho matenuto così, tanto come prestazioni penso che 4,3ghrz siano più che sufficienti. In questa configurazione raramente con uso normale supera i 28°. Con videogiochi pesanti raggiunge i 30-35°. Non so se il mio è un esemplare particolarmente fortunato, ma sono rimasto sorpreso da temperature così basse, tanto da pensare ad un termometro difettoso. Dopo vari test però penso non sia così. Certo gran parte del merito va anche al dissipatore, ma sicuramente questo processore è incredibilmente prono ad overclock spinti, anche con dissipazione ad aria. Consumi: a 4,3ghrz i consumi di attestano sotto sforzo moderato sui 40w per tutte le core insieme. Ho preso un alimentatore da 600w per stare sicuro, ma credo che ne sarebbe bastato tranquillamente uno da 500 o forse anche 450. Chiaramente ciò dipende anche dal resto dell'hardware che si installa. In conclusione è un ottimo prodotto. La differenza di prezzo con il modello i7 non è sostanziale, ma nemmeno la differenza prestazionale. Quindi se siete in cerca di un prodotto che vi permetta di risparmiare qualcosa e non fate ampio uso di applicazioni multithread questo è il processore perfetto.

State of the art!
Update: Neukunden sollten inzwischen zum i5 4690k greifen. (Außer man hat kein Z/H97er Chipsatz) Ich habe mich nach 3-jähriger Nutzung eines AMD Phenom II X4 nun endlich überwinden lassen, mir doch einen Intel CPU zu kaufen. Ich dachte immer, dass AMD völlig ausreicht (Was es für den Normalverbraucher auch tut), aber ich lasse mich doch gern eines besseren belehren ... Vor allem sind mir ab und zu in einigen neuen Spielen, wie BF4, Tomb Raider, Anno 2070, usw., nervige Ruckler aufgefallen. Ich dachte, es liegt an meiner Grafikkarte - nach Recherche konnte es aber nicht an der Radeon HD 7870 OC liegen. Auch wenn viele sagten, ein neuer CPU lohnt kaum, wagte ich dennoch das Experiment: Neuer CPU und neues Motherboard (Habe mich für das MSI G45 Z87 entschieden). Den Boxed Kühler habe ich gleich beseite gelegt und meinen neuen BeQuiet Dark Rock 2 verbaut. Angeschaltet, UEFI eingerichtet, Windows neu installiert und gestartet... Das wesentlich flüssigere Arbeitstempo fiel deutlich auf. Als das 1. Spiel nun heruntergeladen war (Battlefield 4), wollte ich nun endlich wissen, ob sich der Kauf gelohnt hat... Surprise! Statt ständigen Rucklern auf 64 Spieler-Maps und allgemein nur 30-40 FPS auf einmal 50-60 FPS mitten in der Schlacht bei 64 Spielern! Bei Anno 2070 sind die Min. FPS auch deutlich angestiegen, Tomb Raider lief nun ebenfalls butterweich. Dazu freute ich mich als professioneller Grafiker besonders über die schnellere Leistung in Bild- und Videobearbeitungsprogrammen. So läuft Adobe AE und PS beim Rendern nun deutlich schneller. Die Temperaturen mit dem Be Quiet waren ... - IDLE: 25-27°C - Last: 45-47°C - Volllast: 50-54°C Bei Übertaktung auf 4,2 GHz bei 1,150v - IDLE: 26-28°C - Last: 53-57°C - Volllast: 58-60°C Fazit: Sehr gute Temperaturen! Für alle, die einen Chipsatz älter als 2009 (AMD Athlon/Phenom II z.b.) besitzen, würde ich einen Umstieg empfehlen. Der i5 4670k bringt auch wesentlich mehr Leistung als ein AMD FX8350 bei DEUTLICH geringerem Stromverbrauch. Die Bauart beruht auf dem 22nm Verfahren und dem neuem Haswell Chipsatz von 2013. Für Gamer, die nicht unbedingt so viel für einen i7 ausgeben wollen, VÖLLIG ausreichend und preislich unschlagbar! Wer Hyperthreading und ein Stück mehr Leistung braucht, setzt auf einen i7 oder einen Xeon. Beim Xeon gibt es aber kein "einfaches" OC und keine integrierte GPU. Klare Kaufempfehlung! Greetings.

Excelente processador
Procesador muy potente con capacidad de OC, apto para expertos conocedores en sistemas informáticos y para aquellos que buscan iniciarse en el OC de forma muy fácil, e incrementar las prestaciones de su equipo con una placa con chipset z87, sin haber de invertir el dinero en el hermano mayor i7-4770K ( 80/100€ más caro). Sobra potencia por todos los lados si queréis montarlo en un equipo de sobremesa para office, Internet, reproducción de películas y videojuegos sin alto requerimiento, ya que gracias a su gráfica integrada Intel HD4600 puede hacer funcionar los últimos juegos a mínima resolución. He probado Battlefield 4, Crysis 3 a mínima resolución y funcionan a 25 FPS. Si se quiere hacer OC, es recomendable cambiar el disipador que llevan de serie para rebajar su temperatura, ya que el ventilador de serie parece una aspiradora a 3000 rpm cuando está bajo demanda.
