Great for cooking/baking
I bought this casein because I heard casein was better to cook with than whey protein powder. I've been making the best protein waffles I've ever made using this powder so it's definitely true. It's not dry and nasty like it is with whey. I really liked the price of this Nutricost protein compared to others and just went with it. It did not disappoint. The recipe for my waffles if you're interested is the following: 40g oats, 1 scoop of this stuff, baking powder, 1tsp vanilla extract, 1 large egg, 70g cottage cheese, some unsweetened, almond milk to get a more liquidy consistency (sorry I didn't measure). Throw everything into a blender or nutribullet and let it mix. For me it made three full waffles that smelled amazing. Eat it with some sugar free syrup and you'll have yourself some delicious body building waffles that tastes like the real thing. I do find that it takes a little longer in the waffle iron than regular waffles so play around with it. On another note, in terms of ingesting this as a shake with just water, it's pretty chalky like any other casein. I would recommend taking regular whey over this if you just make shakes. I know a lot of people will take this before bedtime but IMO it's totally unnecessary as long as you're getting sufficient protein during the day. If you do need protein you can supplement with regular whey which is cheaper and whey in general is a higher quality protein. I would totally recommend this for those looking for a great cooking protein!

Quality at an affordable price.
I wanted to give casein a try over whey because I like to make puddings and mixes over smoothies and casein is supposed to be thicker. I find casein far superior over whey for my needs. As for this particular brand, while I haven't tried any other casein proteins, I am very happy with its consistency and taste. I can add just half a serving of this protein to a 3/4 cup of Greek yogurt with some cinnamon and cacao nibs and I have this wonderful concoction that makes me think of cannoli filling with not a hint of any "chalkiness" or strange aftertaste. It also dissolves very easy in nut milks. I tried almond and macadamia so far and had great results with about half a cup of nut milk per full serving of the powder to create a great creamy starter base for whatever I want to make. Macros are perfect for me as well since I am always counting calories and carbs. I'm sure there are probably amazing tasting caseins out there but for my needs and wallet, this will be my go-to every time because I am quite happy and satisfied.

My new favorite protein powder
With protein powder prices having gotten crazy in the past few years, I love it when a company comes out and just offers a very basic, no frills protein without having too much sugar added in for a relatively inexpensive price. I also love that Casein is slower digested than Whey. This stuff keeps me satisfied for a while. I use it for meal replacements and have no trouble with it. Other reviewers mention this tastes like sand, that is not my experience though, yes you can feel the Casein particles but they are very light and fluffy. This is really micronized into very small fine powder and mixes very fast into liquid. I do not mind the texture at all. The vanilla flavor is also subtle and not overpowering, which is good for me. I will likely be ordering more of this product.

Good for gainz - If you're mentally strong enough
Review updated after 1 month It took me some time to get used to the taste and texture. If I could give one piece of advice, I would recommend using about 400 ml of water to mix two servings. While it may not be the most enjoyable protein in terms of taste and feel, I’ve gotten accustomed to it, and I now actually look forward to having it before bedtime. The flavor is a very mild vanilla, which makes it easy to adjust to your preference.ld vanilla, which makes it easy to become adjusted to it. As far as gainz are concerned, mine are mostly of the newbie variety of a man who hasn't worked out in over 10 years. While muscle memory plays a role, I have found that consuming 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight has significantly boosted my strength in various compound lifts. In fact, I've nearly doubled my strength in just a month. I believe that Nutricost's casein protein, in addition to whey isolates and creatine, has helped prevent me from going catabolic during rest cycles. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their strength training. I know the plateau is near, and gainz will be harder to come by, but I'm loving what this protein is doing for me. ----- First of all, before getting into the nitty/gritty (literally), this protein has an amazing price point. It will no doubt serve the goal of an overnight protein source well. If you were expecting a good experience in terms of taste and texture, think again. This product is very different from hydrolyzed whey. It has a thick, gritty, and powdery consistency and is almost flavorless. While it doesn’t have a dough-like texture, it is quite unpleasant. The only other option is to use a lot more water, which further dilutes the flavor into nothingness. Objectively, this may suit your overall goals for gains, but if you have any concerns about unpleasant textures, you should consider choosing a different brand. It's really hard to choke down.

Tastes Very Good!
Finally found a good tasting protein powder again. Knd of a grainy texture but it mixes easily in liquids. And no funny smell or after taste either. MetRx meal replacement was always my fave, but alas it is no more, this is close but not as thick. This is an all around great product.

delicious, thick, great price
I've had tubs of the vanilla, chocolate, and unflavored. All are great. Unflavored - not a pleasant flavor. Adding flavorings and cocoa powder mostly masks it. Texture is thicker than the flavored ones. Chocolate - like a chocolate milkshake. Vanilla - doesn't taste like vanilla, but more like butterscotch candies. I actually prefer this over a plain vanilla flavor. I'd give the same 5 star rating for those 3 flavors

Buy the chocolate ior unflavored instead of vanilla
Decently price bulk casein Chocolate tastes decent. The vanilla is horrible. I thought it would taste like the vanilla whey but their casein vanilla is much more artificial tasting. Not sure if I'm gonna be able to finish the 5lb.

Transform Your Protein Game with Nutricost Casein Protein Powder
My husband recently started a health kick, and the Nutricost Casein Protein Powder in Vanilla has become a key part of his routine. This protein powder is perfect for those looking to support muscle recovery and maintain a feeling of fullness throughout the day. The vanilla flavor is delicious and not overly sweet, making it easy to mix into smoothies, oatmeal, or even just water. It blends smoothly without any gritty texture, which is a huge plus. We appreciate that it’s low in carbs and fat, making it a great option for anyone watching their macros. What he loves most is that it provides a slow release of protein, making it ideal for nighttime use or as a meal replacement. Overall, Nutricost Casein Protein Powder is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to enhance their protein intake while enjoying a tasty and nutritious product!
