Does anyone know how many AMPS with machine draws? thanks.

Draws 11 amps on a 110V circuit and 5.5 amps on a 220V. That is per the label on the motor.

Does the unit in the picture have the vortex cyclone with 5 micron bag like the description or is this a generic photo?

My unit has the vortex cyclone with the 5 micron bag. The only difference from the photo is that my unit has a transparent hose. Unit works well.

It's 79" high when operational. Can the filter chamber be easily detached for storage in a shorter (vertical) space and reattached before use?

I think it would be to much work to remove the filter each time. What has worked for me is to remove the bracket that holds up the filter bag when not in in use. With the bracket removed, when the machine is off, the filter bag deflates and drapes over the edge so that it is easily stored.

anybody else have a problem with impeller cover screw holes being painted over so screws won't go in without rethreading?

No I have not had that problem, it has been working great since I bought.
