After reading mostly positive reviews, I decided to purchase one of these VERY cool Ale Horns. The Seller's site was very interesting and quite extensive. The people from AleHorn are obviously very proud of their craft. As they should be. They seemed very dedicated and are obviously working hard to make a splendid hand crafted product; also more than willing to make sure that even the most critical customer is happy with their purchase, and sincerely care about correcting even the smallest problem.Okay, the ship&delivery was fast enough, just a couple of days. The presentation was also cool. The horn and stand comes in a nice cloth sack with the sellers logo on it. Each horn is different, so I opened mine hoping for a good one.. well, I didn't get a good one.. I GOT A FREAKING AWESOME ONE!!! The pictures I took do not do this horn justice! The rim fit like a handmade rim should. No leaks. And what's all that griping about smell?? My horn has only a faint trace of an odor that comes from drilling out the center. It will go away in no time, just make sure you rinse it out thoroughly to get any lose debris out of the horn, then pour a couple of of horns full of diet coke. The sweet smell and the fizzy carbonation will rid the horn of any off putting odor. Maybe AleHorn has stepped their game up, cuz I cannot find ONE SINGLE THING bad about this horn! I have already ordered more from these guys; I ordered a set of two matching ale cups for the upcoming Celtic holiday of Maybon, (the Autumnal Equinox. There will be a lot of ale flowing, grown men in kilts, big guys hamming it up and a lot of boisterous yelling (this makes the wives roll their eyes and try not to laugh) playing lots of games consisting mainly of making use of these cool ale horns, and throwing sharp pointy things at a target! Good times!The Celtic games are only allowed to be played by fully grown and skilled gentlemen trained in the arts of the Highland Scottish games. Yes, we're nutballs, but.. have another horn of ale!! We begin to make perfect sense!

We decided these would be a great gift for our wedding party and fun addition to the reception. As a bonus, I convinced the boss that we should get one for each of us. I ordered one first to see if I liked it before ordering the rest, and I'm glad I did. I wanted the none polished horn and that is what I received. I really like it, it's tough looking and fits me. So we ordered more. Guess there was some confusion and we mistakenly ordered the polished horns the second time, which was a pleasant surprise to be honest. When I think of polished, I think of the cheap looking plastic horns that you buy at theme parks, but these have some texture left on them and I actually think they look better.To address some of the complaints here -The smell: Yeah, you're drinking from a horn, that came from a dead animal, that lived outside... It has a smell to it. I stuck ours in a plastic tote with a bunch of baking soda for about a week and then gave them a good wash. WASH THEM FIRST. Some of them have a twist/curve to the horn and getting to the very bottom is a little tricky, you'll want to get a brush and scrub down there because there was some gunk at the bottom of the a couple. Soak in vinegar, wash off, you're set.The taste: Wash it well and it's not an issue.The volume: It varied, some held over 2 cups, some closer to 1.I do really like the brass around the edge, but a couple had some snags. Quick fix with a knife.Overall, it's a great product and it looks pretty cool.

I was skeptical ordering this at first since these vary in size, color, etc. and it was a gift for my boyfriend, but OMG I am so impressed!!!! My package arrived today and I nervously opened it to see what I got. It's EXACTLY what I was hoping for. I had read other reviews saying it was too small, had leaks, smelled bad, etc., but after thoroughly inspecting this and testing it out with water, there are no leaks, no cracks, and the rim around the top is fastened securely and adds such a nice accent. I can't wait to give it to him as he is going to LOVE this!! I also got the horn stand, and the horn fits perfectly and balances well. I am over the moon about this, and before I thought they were pointless, but after receiving this one, I want one for myself!! Also to note, as other reviews touched on it-there is really no scent to the one I got. I don't know if it has to do with getting the polished version? I was also really hoping for a mostly black horn with lighter accents, but as there is no way to request this, I had to hope for the best. This horn is beautiful! Exactly what I had in mind and hoped for, black and white (at least mine was), and the size is really perfect for holding and drinking from easily. I'm not typically a review writer, and have high expectations, and this product really blew my mind. I would absolutely recommend!! The company also sent me an email with care instructions, which was nice.
