After your partner passes, you suddenly realize that lots of the favorite food you purchased as a couple is only sold in family size packages. You also quickly realize that you need to adjust the quantity of food you cook or be faced with eating the same food for days before it spoils or having to freeze the uneaten portion to be eaten later.I purchase every size of Ziploc Food Storage Freezer bags available. As soon as I get back from "the Club", I immediately get out the Ziplocs and a marking pen and start breaking down freezable items into smaller quantities. After cooking a quantity of food suitable for two people for several days, I set aside two day's worth of food in the fridge and freeze the remainder in one day portion sizes. When I purchase produce for fresh salads. I freeze half of it in portion sizes suitable for use as cooking ingredients. So, right now, if I want to make Italian sausage with mushrooms, peppers and onions over tortellini, I can go to my freezer, pull out/defrost the quantities I need and reheat or cook. I can make most meals in 45 minutes or less because of my use of Ziploc freezer bags and the system I have developed to keep food spoilage at a minimum and make sure I always have the ability to eat a balanced meal.The additional expense of using plastic bags is offset by the amount of food that I would have to throw away because of spoilage. My time is also worth something and going to the freezer takes less time than going to the super. Unfortunately, there is no way to recycle the freezer bags, so they go in the landfill. Some people will wash out the bags and reuse them, but I value my time more than my need to recycle in some cases. I have been doing this for the last 5 years. It works for me but may not work for you.Fixin' to make red beans, rice and sausage now. The red beans and rice will come from a box. The sausage will come from pre-cooked frozen Texas Czech sausage in a Ziploc bag. The Cajun Trinity (celery, bell peppers, onions) will come from Ziplocs in the freezer. I will also add frozen Okra from a freezer Ziploc. The meal will be ready to eat in about 30 minutes. It will be better than what I could get from just about any restaurant in my small town.

We use a lot of quart size freezer bags because we have a garden and we have a lot of fruit trees here on our farm. I like to pick daily and I place whatever it is that I have picked whether it’s blueberries or raspberries whatever wash them placed them in the quart size bags and put them in the freezer they keep for ever almost. I like the fact also that the zipper part is doubled so you get double closure and they’re easy to open and close no more fussing and fighting with those cheap little tiny zipper parts. I store a lot of of my vegetable vegetables and fruit fruits in these bags and in the freezer for the year and I’ve had no problems with freezer burn or holes or any kind of damage. I also like that when you order them online from Amazon, they’re usually shipped and you have them by the next day or the day after it saves time and money by having it shipped directly to your home and you don’t have to waste your gas or go fight the crowds. I highly recommend these bags. They’re the perfect size for sandwiches or measuring out fruits from your garden to make pies or whatever you choose.

Great freezer bags and a great deal

These are exactly what I needed. Smaller sized food freezer bags although I use them more for storage but they don’t leak when I put food in them. They’re easy to fill but they will eventually break over time but that’s known since they’re plastic. They’re also easy to clean if you don’t use them for anything raw

Ziploc always pleases and Amazon has them reasonably priced and shipped the next day.

I buy several boxes at a time and put them all together in a large bag for convenience. I have a large pantry and use these bags for storage, keeping documents dry, keeping pet food fresh, etc. They withstand hot/cold water easily and don't empart a plastic taste or smell. They also stand up pretty well but don't over fill as physics applies. They will tip over at a certain point. The seal actually works easily with little to no do overs.
