Dose this absorb the sound and shock of the treadmill because I’m in the second floor and I have neighbor underneath that I don’t want to annoy?

Perhaps a little but I wouldn't count on them being noise/shock proof.

Do I need a Mat also to protect a carpet or will these do the trick by themselves?

Not necessarily, BUT I got a carpet protector plastic mat at out condo because as you use the treadmill you will wear the belt very slightly along with you shoes & there will be dirt building over time at the rear of the treadmill -- requiring occasional vacuuming. We did not use the treadmill mat pads at our condo (primarily bought these as the treadmill at our home on concrete would slowly creep backwards without them).

Are these waterproof? Do they absorb water or create molds when soaked in water?

They really do not absorb water since they are very hard rubber but if they are in water for a period of time they should be dried because I believe there would be a chance for mold.

Will these protect indentation from heavy treadmill on hardwood floors?

I use them under my bike and they have protected the wood floors.
