David Gray - Flesh - CD

One of the most overlooked album of the 90s?
This is David Gray's least successful album. Listen to this album and I suspect you will find that shocking. The feelings of this 26-year-old were delivered with such cutting precision that it feels less like you are listening to David Gray and more like you are listening to sadness and angst and longing themselves.I can think of only two reasons why this is not one of the best-selling albums of the 90s: (1) the album cover is not exactly inviting, and (2) it was released at a time [1994] when musical nihilism was at its peak, when grunge dominated the radio and when the mood of the time was "whatever." This album, however, is decisively non-whatever--it delivers feeling with a stomach-sinking sincerity. It's interesting to contrast this album to his later ones. His later albums like "Life in Slow Motion" are musically more interesting and more mature with greater delicacy and with more violin and mellow electronica and layered instrumental complexity, but you won't find David Gray on such raw display as you do in this album.

His finest work
I'm a huge David Gray fan, and this album was when I my first introduction to him a few years ago. I had read a brief Rolling Stone review saying this was good. Went to the store...that was the time where the CD store, would actually open up a CD and let you preview it before buying. I was instantly hooked. I have all of his other albums and seen him in concert several times.Sadly all of his subsequent albums, in my opinion, have come up short in comparison to this one. Love the rough edgy heartfelt sound of the songs and amazing lyrics. If stranded on a desert island and could only pick one CD....would pick this one.

Flesh
I heard David Gray for the first time when Draw The Line came out. Ever since then I have been trying to get all his CD's and DVD's. I loved this CD. The price and the shipping were excellent. Thank you.

growley david.
I have been caprivated by David and his genius for a comparatively short time. I bought flesh to further my understanding of his music. I was happy to hear growley David , irish David, angry David. I prefer his more recent work

Must have
If it's David Gray it's always good music. If you know what real music is then you will definitely love this album or any of David Gray's album.
