Superior product!! My dad and I both have one. Dad has had his for many years and it still works perfectly. Great price, very easy to install, lasts forever, great for can recycling, great for crushing cans for storage before recycling center trip.

At first, I thought it was a bit flimsy because the arms were thin and flexed a bit but I really like it. It works great and it was inexpensive. I found that if you squeeze the can a little, it crushes a lot easier. I used to throw the cans on the ground and step on them, which worked, but then I had to crawl around on the ground and pick them up. Now I just have a garbage can below and they just drop in.

I purchased this McKay 16oz can crusher in 2022, and it has been a staple on our deck ever since. If you are looking for a high-value tool that can handle heavy use, this is a very durable choice. Performance & Ease of Use: Four years later, it is still fully functional. The design is simple and effective, making the grind speed (or crushing speed) very fast—you can knock out a whole bag of cans in minutes. It is incredibly easy to use, requiring very little effort to pull the handle, provided it is mounted securely. Honestly, it’s actually pretty fun to use, and there’s a certain satisfaction in how well it flattens everything from standard soda cans to taller 16oz varieties. Durability & Value: To be fair, we have this mounted outside on our deck. While it’s a great value for the money because it is mechanically indestructible, the aesthetics haven't fared as well. The paint is flaking and chipping off significantly, and rust is becoming prevalent in several areas. I expected the finish to be a bit more weather-resistant, especially since these are often mounted in garages, shops, or outdoor spaces. Verdict: Structurally, it’s a 5-star tool. If you plan to keep it outside, just be prepared for the finish to wear. Mechanically, it operates nearly as well as the day we received it.

Love this can crusher, but after a while the arms wear down on the handle and it no longer stays up on its own. It just falls and puts holes in my wall. Had to use a small bungee cord to tie around the handle to make it tight and stay up.

I bought my first one over a year ago. I'm a hardcore Redbull addict (zero shame) and go through a ton of the standard sized slim cans. Before I stumbled upon this can crusher I had been doing the overwhelmingly ineffective one handed can squish to "save space" in my recycle bin. Yep... I really "saved some space" doing it that way. Instead of fitting only 17 cans in the bin, I could fit 20 (sarcasm doesn't get much thicker than that). When I found this can crusher, I was actually looking for one, and like most people, I bought it based on the rating and number of reviews. And I was elated to find that it absolutely lived up to the hype! I have rather weak arms due to a chronic health condition (which makes me a very odd duck as I'm a maintenance tech, driveway auto mechanic of 20 years, and a furniture builder... I'm also a 5ft 100lb F), and even on my bad days when it's too painful to even lift my arms, I can still slam a can perfectly flat in this thing. My friend's 2 yr old wanted to try it out, so I totally let her take the handle.. fully supervised of course (I'm not one to deny a little girl who shows interest in how mechanical stuff works). That kid executed a single one handed downswing, and flattened a can on the first try! What I like most about this crusher, and what you'll see in almost anything made to top quality standards, is that the performance has remained consistent for over a year. While the one I bought originally has been beaten all to hell, and looks like it got run over by industrial farming equipment, it still works just as perfectly as it did when I first unboxed it. So, if it's that great, why did I need to get another one? As sturdy and well made as it is... it's not idiot proof. Nothing really is though. One of my friends (the type who thinks he's a pro .. but isn't.. at all) decided he was smarter than me ..and the manufacturers of the can crusher.. and proclaimed that he was going to "fix it" (apparently he thought the handle arm was too stiff) with a quick spritz of WD40. He'd done it before I could stop him. DO NOT make that mistake!!! The arm will not stay up anymore, and instead, flops out and down. I have had to secure it with a clothes pin ever since.. and I still yell at the idiot who messed it up whenever I see him. So.. the new one I just ordered is 100% because of how beaten up the old one looks, and it's an eyesore in my kitchen. But because it still works perfectly, I'll move the old one into my workshop where looking beaten up blends in.

If all you are going to do with this is crush flimsy aluminum soda/beer cans, then you will be happy. It works with minimal effort, and as long as you keep the handle lined up when you pull it down (don't push it to one side), it will hold up well. There is one safety issue to be careful of: If a can gets in there just the right way, it can pop out if it "bends at the waist" when you start to crush it. This is bad news if you're standing right in front of it. It helps to give it a little dent with your hands before you put in the crusher so you can control which way it's going to collapse. There are three design flaws: 1. The back mounting plate and top "crusher" plate are very heavy gauge metal, but the back plate doesn't really have to be. Most of the load on the back plate is at the screw holes, where the crushing motion will create a downward load on all the screws, and outward on the top screws. Wisely there are three screws at the top, and only one at the bottom, perfectly appropriate for the loads. However, the articulated moving parts to support the handle are light-gauge metal, and that's where most of the crushing load is applied. They *should* be sufficient for the load on those parts, which on the side bars is tension to pull down the top plate. However, see flaw #3. 2. The top plate travels down only to 1-1/2" above the bottom plate, so you can't crush your cans any flatter than that. I can stomp a can down to 1/2" with my foot. I would prefer the option to get my cans as flat as possible. The top plate should travel down to meet the bottom plate. 3. The top "crusher" plate has a big hole in the middle. Presumably this is to crush plastic water bottles, allowing the neck to stick through the hole. However, this seriously compromises the structural integrity of the top plate. It's fine for flimsy soda cans, but I am crushing heavier-gauge aluminum cat food cans. The top plate started to bend at the front edge because of the greater force required, see attached photo. A better design would have been to have the hole in the bottom plate instead of the movable plate. It's a good product for the price, and good for typical home use. It's not industrial strength. The really heavy-duty ones I've seen cost 4-5 times as much and require an air compressor to power them. So it's good if you match it properly to your needs. EDIT: The picture in the listing shows crushers that do NOT have a hole in the top plate. The model shown in the video DOES have a hole. EDIT #2: A year and a half later, the rivet popped out of the right side mechanism while I was using it. This sudden loss under load caused deformation of the mechanisms. Can't really be fixed. I am going to give it another go with a re-order. ALSO the nut holding the handle on periodically comes off, even though it's a nylock nut.

Ok, so we drink a lot of long skinny canned beverages and thought that this would be a great addition out in our pavilion. Finish your drink, crush the can, into the trash it goes and at the end of the month a trip to the recycling plant. This crusher worked great-for about two weeks. Then every once in a while instead of crushing the can, the can would come hurdling out right for your face--no rhyme or reason, just the occasional check to see if you were paying attention or not. It did make for some interesting party stories, but luckily no law suits. Today it finally gave out completely and the bottom plate now moves about 3" and makes the whole entire thing useless. :( Why this piece isn't welded on, instead of it being riveted on, is beyond me. Unfortunately it's too late for a return. It definitely wasn't the least expensive, but it might actually be the cheapest one. Not a happy customer. This is where the edit begins. i contacted customer service and they had me take pictures and sent them to them and then they sent me a new unit. Now, being the redneck engineers that we are, we figured we could rig the broken one and hang on to the replacement until this one couldn't be fixed any longer. So we used a piece of 2x4 to hold the broken bottom plate in place, and riveted an arm back on--yeah that broke too, and got about another 3-4 months use out of the broken unit before it finally just gave up and fell apart. At this point we took the old unit down, gave it the viking burial that it earned and replaced it with the replacement that had been provided to us. Right out of the box, or well, as soon as we hung it on the wall, you could tell a difference. I'm not sure what happened with the first one, but the replacement--there is a huge difference in everything and it may sound odd, but when you are using it, you can tell there is a difference and I truly believe that the first crusher was defective and when they replaced it, we received what the crusher should be. It moves smoothly, doesn't take any huge amount of effort and completely crushes the cans--just like you would expect it to do. I'm actually impressed by a simple can crusher. lol I also need to apologize to the manufacturer for my original review. Sorry guys for the awful original review--but I'm going to leave it here because I want people to know that this company does stand behind their product and they do what they need to do to make it right. So if you bought/buy one and it doesn't work like it should, contact the company and let them know!

I bought the McKay 16oz can crusher because my recycling bin was starting to look like it had a drinking problem. This thing mounted easily, works like a charm, and absolutely obliterates cans with the kind of efficiency usually reserved for action movies and tax season. There is something deeply satisfying about pulling the handle and hearing a can realize its journey is over. Soda cans? Flattened. Seltzer cans? Humble now. Beer cans? Sent to the shadow realm. It’s sturdy, simple, and makes me feel like I run a tiny, very aggressive recycling facility out of my basement. Honestly, I didn’t expect a can crusher to bring this much joy into my life, but here we are. Bonus: it also cuts down on the mountain of empty cans, which means fewer trips to take out recycling and more room for my questionable beverage choices. Would recommend to anyone who has ever looked at an empty can and thought, “You’ve had this coming.”

El aplastador cumple lo que promete. Sí, aplasta bien las latas, casi tan parejo como un buen pisotón. Es necesario instalarlo bien sobre la pared. Yo le puse una almohadilla de esponja en la parte inferior que queda a la pared. También considero que ayuda mucho si lo aceitas, para que no haya tanta fricción entre sus partes metálicas. El Video que te comparto es un varón adulto. Tengo en casa una mujer de la tercera edad y ella debe usar sos dos manos e incluso el peso de su cuerpo para aplastar una lata. Le cuesta trabajo. Sin embargo, le gustó. Pienso que la técnica de empleo es muy simple. Coloca bien la lata y luego tira duro. El ímpetu o momentum, tirar sin pausa del aplastador desde su posición arriba-máxima, ayuda mucho. Sí, necesitas aplicar fuerza. El diseño del aplastador no ahorra energía/fuerza, incluso no ahorra tiempo, su principal valor es que aplasta parejas las latas cuando las colocas bien y usas de manera correcta el aplastador. Debes meter las latas íntegras vacías, nunca las semi-aplastes antes. Le califico bien porque no hay engaño. Cumple su función y está bien construido. Temo que no dure demasiado o pueda dañarse de alguna forma con el uso constante, pero, ¿dime qué no se daña con el uso? Pienso que es un buen aditamento a tener cuando eres de quienes juntan latas de aluminio para reciclar. Ayuda. Se ve cool, y se siente bien cuando la lata se aplasta. Coloca un bote o una bolsa debajo de él, así te será más cómodo ir depositando allí las latas que aplastes. ¡Buena suerte, aplastadores de lata!

Crusher its self feels like good quality , Installation screws are less than desirable, actual screw head came off of screws when tightened by hand with a screwdriver and my power drill stripped the screw heads . Crusher works well, fun to reduce the size and recycle **update this company will make your experience and purchase right with no hassle. I am beyond impressed and will recommend this as a great purchase, you may not or may need different screws but either way crusher is fantastic

I bought the McKay Can Crusher/Smasher because I was getting embarrassed by the racket of all my empty beer cans clanging around when dumping them into the recycling bin. Enough was enough – instead of cutting back on beer, I decided to tackle the can situation head-on with this crusher. And wow, this thing is a lifesaver! Not only does it crush each can down to about 1-inch thick, saving me tons of space in the recycling bin, but it also makes the process super quiet. I can fit way more cans in the grey bin after they’ve been crushed, and the built-in bottle opener is a nice added bonus. The crusher is solidly built, with sturdy steel arms and a comfortable, cushion-grip handle. It’s easy to use and works on both 16 oz. and 12 oz. cans, plus plastic bottles. Now, I don’t have to feel guilty about my beer intake since the recycling process is so much more efficient. Happy days! The only minor issue I’ve noticed after all this use is that the handle doesn’t always stay upright anymore. Not a huge deal, though, as it still looks fine whether it’s up or down.
