can cables be connected through the box or only with the lid off.?

There are small ports that the battery cables run through no problem. The ports face downward to avoid water and debris from getting in the box.

I need the outside dementions to be 7-3/4 to go inside my bracket, do you have that

David, Sorry about the delay....I was out of town. The bottom of the case is 8 1/4 x 11 1/2 and the cover is even larger. I would say it will not fit.

Will this fit a group 29 battery?

The large one, yes. The standard one, no. It lists the inside dimensions. Measure your battery and check it yourself. This standard one is only for a group 24 battery.

How is this different from a 55374?

There is supposedly no difference between them. I asked Camco the same question. Camco customer service told me 55374 is for all retailers other than Amazon. 55735 is the item number just for Amazon. The battery box I received had the original Camco 55374 sticker with a 55375 sticker covering the 55734 UPC.
