Muddy The Boss XL Wide Stance Hang-On Tree Stand Platform & Hawk Helium Set

This was a Christmas gift, about two years ago, for the Mister. It is still holding up, he has been putting this to great use. Easy installation. Easy to remove and relocate. His weight is about 230-240lbs and he hasn’t had any trouble with this product not holding him up. Safety is important and we give this product an A+. Before I did the review, I asked him, his take on this product.

Fantastic stand for around 100 bucks. The platform is ginormous, as well as the seat. The seat is extremely comfortable without having to buy a foam pad. Stand went together very quickly. I read other reviews about the seat support bar being difficult and near impossible to install. I don’t know if I received an upgraded design but that piece installed easily on all 3 stands I purchased. The only negative issue i have, and it’s kind of a major one for me is how Muddy designed this stand to be secured to a tree. Rather that welding 2 eye loops and including a 2” ratchet strap, they have lipped lugs welded on the inside seat post and included a buckle style strap with loops on each end of the strap that slip over the lipped lugs. This would be fine if the buckle was a Ratchet. In addition to the included buckle style strap, I also used 2 Ratchet straps for peace of mind.

Got 2 of these for $80 each on Black Friday sale. I replaced the cables with 3/16 black chain. I haven't had good luck with cables on my lock on stands, and have been replacing them with chain ever since. I do leave my stands out year round so durability is important to me. I typically replace the hardware as well, but these stands include grade 5 bolts according to the markings on the bolts. 1 strap is included, but I usually use 2 per stand, not really a negative just preference. Will update if needed. Can't wait to hunt from them.

I bought the XL for the large platform and available foot room for stand up shooting. I'm 6'2" and the seat height seems good and the seat itself is quiet and comfortable for long sits. Had no problems as it is easy to put together and light enough to haul into the woods.

The flex-tek seat and bar support make this stand more comfortable than its predecessors and suitable for an all day sit. Relatively light weight for its size but I would not classify as portable. Assembly is quick, instructions are clear and easy to follow but pay particular attention to the notes, especially for installation of the seat bar. The seat bar is a stabilizer and tensions the seat so it is, by design, a tight fit. The NOTES provide a suggestion for install which make it easier to get the fit started at the front side then roll it over to fasten the back side. Really great stand that this price point.

I think the stand is pretty much as advertised. It’s not bad but there are a few things I don’t like at all. The straps don’t make me feel good at all. I added a ratchet strap and that made me feel much more comfortable. The other thing is I have had other hangers that have teeth at the base of the stand so that when you tighten you stand they bite into the tree a little to give you more support. Those are not on this stand and when I was setting it up it slipped down a few times until I was finally able to get it into the spot I wanted. I don’t love the stand because of that but the seat has been pretty comfortable and the platform is plenty if enough for me… I’m about 6ft 200lbs.

Assembly went well. Stand is a little heavy but looks like good quality. Welds all looked clean. Can’t wait for fall. This will be one of 7 deer stands I have set up. Muddy products never disappoint.
