ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL FOR CLAY SOIL
If you have clay ground, you will understand when I say that I have to EXCAVATE each weed individually in my garden. I have worked to amend the soil but it is slow going. I have the honkin' big green broad fork made by another manufacturer and use it often but I needed something a bit smaller and lighter. I was looking for a smaller version of the broad fork but decided to try this instead. I was somewhat concerned that the tines would bend instead of breaking the soil. I was surprised on two counts. #1- The tines are SHARP! They CUT straight down into the soil with a lot less effort than expected. #2- THAT extra metal bracket sticking out of the back of the fork acts as a lever for lifting the blocks of soil straight up. THAT is terrific for pulling out weeds with LONG tap roots! They don't break off: they come straight up... and out!Where would I NOT use this: Those sharp tines would probably not last very long in extremely rocky conditions. (I have a few small rocks, but not many.) I would also not use it as a pry bar from side-to-side. It is fine to jam on it and rock it front-to-back with all the force you wish. I was lifting and breaking 1" thick grape vine roots with it. But I think the tines would eventually bend if you constantly stuck it deep in the dirt and rocked left and right. It is similar to using a knife. You can press down with the cutting edge and it works fine. Try to pry a door open with it using a lot of side pressure and the blade might break. Don't get me wrong! This is a well made and durable garden tool. But it is designed to be as light weight, sharp and maneuverable as possible. That precludes using massive heavyweight materials designed to take constant abuse. I expect it to last for decades.

This is the best gardening fork I’ve used, get it!
Best garden fork ever! I usually don’t bother with reviews but this is an absolute game changer. Gets asparagus roots and isn’t phased by heavy, rocky soil. 10/10 this thing is awesome. It’s lighter, the bar provides leverage and the handle is a good length for a shorter person (I’m 5’2”). Honestly I couldn’t be more impressed.

OK, this thing rocks.
OK, this thing rocks. Totally saved me. I have back problems causing me to be pretty out of shape at the moment, (plus in late 50's) but I also had major weeding and planting to do. I have other tools but this is the best. Easy to put together, fair price, prongs get deep enough, and the footrest/press is genius. Also, it's strong but not too heavy or too big for me (5'4"). Sort of makes it fun; like gotcha and your whole root too! Will also use for breaking up/mixing/turning over soil, etc. Intruders?

Who Knew a Hefty Tool could be so Handy
They really do mean heavy duty. Well crafted Great tool for aerating my large planters. I am sure it will become one of my favorite tools over the years

Good quality, heavybl and useful
This is a great gardening tool. It doesn't feel cheap, and is great for getting deep in to soil. It slightly bent its metal prong on us, but to be fair we were using it to rip out roots of last year's sunflowers, which is a hefty task for any gardening equipment that isn't as much as a car payment.

Highly recommend
Hard working heavy duty fork. The footstep greatly eases difficult work. Highly recommend.I would definitely buy again - but suspect I'll have no need to unless someone steals this one.

Loosens soil without breaking your back!
I’ve used this “pitchfork” as a broad fork to loosen soil in my gardens and in the garden that I manage for the food pantry. I’ve also used it to loosen the soil compacted when I and others drive over my lawn. In the former situation, it loosens the soil without totally destroying the soil biome, making it better for the soil. It is less expensive than most broad forks, but has a smaller footprint. I’ve loaned it out several times and everyone who has used it thought it was a great tool for gardening.
