My cat loves these scratchers! They last a long time too which is wonderful. I glued then all together and made a giant "scratching board" which she sometimes likes to nap on.

I cannot tell you how much these have saved our lives!!!! Let me tell you how we got our cat to stop tearing things up!Our cat was one who used to tear up our stairs and furniture and no matter how many cat trees we'd have, he'd still tear those other things up!I decided to try these, as one last attempt at stopping the behavior and I was actually impressed when getting them. The box they come in was a good size and they are a good size, light weight and a great thickness! We can even use some Infront of litter boxes to help catch litter.There was no assembly and the clean up is just sweeping or vacuuming because honestly there's no way to avoid some pieces of cardboard around on the floor after a while.Here's how we got him to use these for their intended function: when we first got them, I took some out and gave him the box. Left one inside the box and then I took one, placed it by the couch he tears up and one by the stairs. Then I cracked one in half, which was the PERFECT size to place on the vertical part of the stairs that he tears up.The very first time he went into the box (we gently placed him there) we praised him HEAVILY. Lots of "good boys", head pats and treats. He's very attention motivated, so we'd give him that any time he stood on one or interacted with one in anyway.Then when he noticed we were happy when he'd use them, he started scratching on them and we ramped up the praise. Let me tell you, he hasn't gone for the stairs OR furniture since these have arrived. They function PERFECTLY and I would much rather sweep up some pieces of cardboard every once and a while vs having to get a new couch or carpet!!!

The box it came in was even heavy duty. The box that holds the scratcher is thick and heavy duty as well. I have large cats so I’m not sure if they will want to go in the box, but I put it out for them to see. If they don’t, I’ll just remove the scratchers and put them on the floor (they are male Maine Coons). My Finn likes scratchers so we will see, but I’m impressed by the quality of the boxesEdit: My Finn loves it. I put one of the scratchers in the box and left one out. He is in the box more than I thought he would be. I’m surprised he actually fit. I’m so happy with this purchase and Finn is even happier!

Good scratcher pads and my cats love the box.

Buy this item! I got one of those cardboard scratching pads for my cat and the flakes of cardboard were making an absolute mess of my living room floor. When the first pad I got was done, I came on here to buy another and found this item. It has like five pads in it and this thick, sturdy cardboard box. No assembly required. I just took all but one of the scratching pads out and tossed it on the floor for Hamilton. He was instantly in love. Jumped right in it and started scratching away. He seems to really be having fun with it, and my floor is CLEAN again! Exactly the functionality I needed. Something to entertain the cat and keep the cardboard flakes contained. When he scratches one side of the pad up completely, I take it out, empty the scraps out of the box and put the pad back in with the other side up so we get two uses out of each of the scratch pads that came in it. Sometimes I'll sprinkle some catnip in his box for an extra treat. He uses it as both a scratching pad and a hangout box. This is hands down the best cat toy I ever bought. I love this thing almost as much as the cat does.

Update: It is now May 2025 and this same box is amazingly still intact and in decent condition even with regular use by our cats and constant heat and humidity exposure out on our porch. I just have to replace the scratching pad from time to time, because the cats wear them down. A great value for the price and for the enjoyment it brings to our fuzzy felines.We purchased this on 4/3/2021 for our three cats and placed it out on our screened porch. All three of them love scratching in it, but one of them in particular (see picture) sleeps in it regularly and has pretty much claimed it as his own. Although the box has been on the porch for 4 months now (today is August 3rd), it's still in excellent shape and we've only used one of the cardboard inserts. I did turn the insert over when one side became pretty ragged. That's surprising longevity, given that it's on a screened porch in Florida subjected to summer heat and humidity. Although it's in a place where it doesn't get directly rained on, we've had rain almost daily now for a couple of months. The cardboard box is coated and that seems to be enough to protect it. I've tried a lot of different cardboard scratchers over the years and this one is as durable or more durable than any of them.Every now and then we sprinkle on a little catnip (see the video), but given how much our one cat in particular loves the box, I don't even think that would be necessary. It's now one of his favorite places to sleep. As a frame of reference, he's about 14 pounds - so a pretty decent-sized boy, and there's plenty of room for him.

So we have a foster. Our foster is currently insecure and is marking his “territory” with spray/pee. This poor box was his victim. It is built so well that it absorbed all the wee. I used a blacklight to check the floor (tile) and there was nothing! So 10/10 for durability! Yes he is a neutered kitty. That did not stop him. Yes we have feliway plug ins, as well as structured meal and play times. Unfortunately for our situation, this is what nature’s miracle enzyme, paper towels, and patience is for. Lol, hopefully with some time, he will feel differently.Prior to being slayed mercilessly-death by drowning in pee sounds awful-, this poor box endured attempted stretching from my 22lb void sleeping in it, overzealous digging from our universal cat distribution system’s donation orange athlete-he is positive if he keeps digging he will find something, and light daily usage from my wallflower. Prior to fostering, the three musketeers of team murder mittens took turns inspecting, sleeping in, and attempting to destroy this box… as they do with every new scratcher we bring in. This was our longest lasting cardboard unit prior to pee-gate. I also love that it came with extra inserts that you can flip over. 3 out of 3 also favored this over their 32inch lounging cardboard scratchers.During the box’s dealings with the final boss, kitty lemonade…the scratching pad took most of the abuse, then the walls of the box absorbed the rest. Capillary action at work my friends. Capillary action. The only scratcher to outlast this was a sisal tower from kitty city, which I kind of think doesn’t count since it isn’t cardboard. We had that for years before it needed to be replaced.10/10 would get this box again for its durability and how well loved it was prior to pee-gate.

Unsere beiden Fellnasen lieben es .Unsere Kater sind recht stattlich und bringen stolze 8 Kilogramm auf die Waage, dennoch passen sie wunderbar hinein.Wir entfernen am anfang 2-3 Kartonplatten und tauschen sie aus, wenn sie zu sehr zerkratzt wurden. Die Haltbarkeit ist bemerkenswert.Trotzdem mussten wir nun einmal nachkaufen, da zu sehr gestritten wurde, wer sich in dem Produkt aufhalten durfte.Nun haben wir zwei davon und beide Kater sind glücklich!Eine klare Kaufempfehlung unsererseits.
