Infantino Jumbo Pat & Play Water Mat Sea Theme, 3+ Months

This little whale mat is adorable, and my 6 month old son loves whapping his hands on it to make the little sea critters inside flurry around! A few thoughts addressing some concerns from other reviewers- -Some people say they had a mold/film/algae issue. Well, the directions do say to 'Empty the toy after each use and let it dry.' That will prevent that type of issue. Or, what I do is use distilled water and a little bit of rubbing alcohol, and empty it to let it dry about once a week. I don't leave the baby alone with any type of water toy, plus the plug keeping the liquid inside is heavy duty, so I'm not concerned with the water/rubbing alcohol mixture getting out. -I have no problems with the little sea creatures inside sticking together like some reviewers have mentioned. They all float around doing their own thing. -You can definitely get the little creatures out of the whale to clean/wipe down. It's a little extra work, but worth it if you're worried about anything sanitary-wise. This is a great little entertainer for little ones, whether on a high chair tray, or for tummy time! **Update 01/27- Still LOVE this whale mat! And with the little bit of rubbing alcohol added to the water, I haven't had to empty it to let it dry in 3 weeks, and have had no mold/mildew/algae/anything icky inside. And I have had no issues with leakage either, even with my 7 month old whacking, squeezing, picking up, and knocking the whale to the floor. For the inexpensive price of this toy, and the entertainment it has provided my baby, I would still definitely recommend it!

I have twin 9 month old boys and one of them in particularly loves to slap it when its on the ground because the water swooshes around. The other likes playing with it too but he doesn't get as animated about it. I honestly wish I had found something like this when they were still 4-5 months because I'm sure they would have found it much more entertaining. Nevertheless, it's still fun and totally cute to watch your kids play with it. The only problem I had with it was all of the 5 little plastic sea creatures stuck together when i received it and still after I filled it up with water. I had overfilled it and it was bulged out (more like a pillow) and the babies found nothing amusing about it and neither did I. BUT, then I finally fixed the plastic sea creatures sticking together problem and emptied out a lot of the water so it no longer bulged and removed as much oxygen as I could. Then, all of the creatures stopped floating up together in unison (when I thought they were stuck together). I emptied a lot of the water because I considered the chances of the babies walking/crawling all over it bc they're finally learning how to get around and I wanted to prolong the life of it and reduce the risk of it getting punctured. So, now it's not filled where it bulges any, there's barely any oxygen, & its baby men approved.

I bought this pat and play water mat for my baby to use during tummy time. I read some of the other reviews before I purchased and saw that other people had some trouble with the little plastic animals sticking together. When I received it, I got all of the animals out of the mat and pulled them apart. Then, I put a very little bit of olive oil into the mat before adding the water and put the animals back into it. This has kept them from sticking. Some of the animals stayed a little curled on the sides from shipping right after I put them back into the play mat, but being in the water for a long period of time has corrected this problem. I have had no problems with this toy leaking water, which I was a little worried about. The reason that I gave it four stars is because there is a 2nd valve that you blow air into to inflate the sides of the whale. The valve on mine will not stay close, so that part does not stay inflated. My baby doesn't mind and loves to watch the animals move as he pats the water filled portion. I would definitely recommend this play mat if you don't mind a little extra work in the set up of the toy.

Out of all of his christmas gifts he enjoys this one the most! The little creatures don't really stick, but even if they did I don't think its a big deal. The water swishing is enough to intrigue him! (And of course the slapping sound lol) We've now had it for a few months and still have no issues with mold or a film developing. This is with no special storage or anything either. Just to note in case this is a concern for anyone my little guy is currently teething so he bites EVERYTHING and of course as you can see the whale tail looks like "a juicy steak" to my son, but luckily it's separate from the water portion so through all of his chewing (2 razor sharp teeth) there's no issues with leaking and he's bitten the plastic screen portion too! Over all this toy is well worth the 6$ over and over again lol. It keeps him entertained for longer stretches of time and is perfect to use in different spots (restaruant, high chair, tummy time etc.)

This pat and play mat looked like a great toy for my infant daughter and the price was right so I ordered it. It is very cute and my daughter enjoyed playing with this (my older sons enjoyed playing with it even more). I had my friends an older toddler, age 2, over to play one day and although she was gentle with the play mat itself she was able to easily unplug the mat and it created quite a mess for me. That is a small thing and I realize that I should have been more watchful with their play but it would be nice if the plug was a little more baby proof. The biggest issue I have had with this item is that according to the instructions I have to drain it of all the water and air dry it for hours after each use which is a major pain :\ I would have tried draining every couple days or even a week but I was afraid of it getting moldy or that I would forget (I am pretty forgetful at times). I ended up donating this play mat to my daughter’s daycare for the younger babies in hopes that they will have better luck with it than I did.

This toy is wonderful. -Fill with a 1/4 cup of vinegar before filling with water. The image attached is my toy with 3 month old water in it. Still fresh looking. -Fill it like a bag. Some reviews have complained that it's hard to fill. That's ridiculous. The opening is about the size of a sink faucet- but you can't fill it flat. Hold it from the fill spout and the top of the whale to fill. You might not even spill a drop. -As you can see my characters do not stick together and I did not oil them. I didn't notice sticking before filling with water, but if they had, I would have just filled with water and shook the pillow vigorously. I don't recommend pulling them out and coating them in oil like some do because it really doesn't appear to be an issue once the pillow is filled. An oil coat might keep them from drifting too close together but that sounds like a 20 min process since those things aren't going to come out of the fill hole easily. Filling this sucker with vinegar and water takes about 2 mins. Overall, we love this. My baby loves it, it doesn't leak and it seems durable for what it is. My husband and mom did think it was leaking a couple of times but it was just baby drool.

I like the smaller manageable size (I had the most popular large one before). Regarding the issue of the characters sticking together, mine were stuck when they first arrived. I didn’t see any instructions to add oil. I filled it with water and they remained stuck, but I tried pulling them apart from outside the bag while they were underwater (as difficult as it sounds) and all the characters unstuck and they stayed unstuck! A couple days later I changed the water and refilled and they are still unstuck. I did not have to add any oil to the characters or take them out of the bag or anything. They’re great! They move around a lot more freely then the more popular large water mat I had with the foam characters. Only complaint is I had trouble blowing up the air portion with the valve. For some reason I can’t get it to stay inflated very well. But we are enjoying the water portion and it is a much smaller more manageable size.

I LOVE this thing. Love it. Love it so much, bought 2. For both babies! My boy loved it for tummy time. My baby girl loves it for tummy time and chewing on the tail. First time, no animals for folded, second time there was one. No biggie. No sticking, no water leaking, no mold problems. Easy to fill. But BOTH had developed a small hole in the seam of the air border after about 2-3 weeks of being played and filled. Still useable, but frustrating. First hole was on the water splash and the second by the air valve. I bought it the second time, thinking the first hole was a fluke. Bummer. Other than that, babies love it. Hope they get that manufacturing issue fixed.

Nice toy

Great product, my child loves it. Perfect size for a highchair tray, we use this everyday to encourage hand-eye coordination and to keep my child focused whilst eating. It is also great for younger babies when doing tummy time. Great value for money and would definitely buy again!!
