Yes, I used this to nixtamalize corn last year. Basically, you bring the corn and lime water mixture up to a boil for about 20 minutes, then let it sit overnight. The way I was told, and followed, was to use clean, unwashed eggs. Their bloom needs to be left. If an egg has visible poop on the shell, do not try to preserve it. My friend also told me to wash the lime off the preserved egg before cracking it open. And she recommended cracking each egg in a separate dish, just in case it went bad, before adding to your other ingredients. The preserved eggs got us through last winter and I'm now putting some back for this winter.

Store bought eggs will not work with this method, because the protective layer has been washed off and bleached, this will cause the lime to seep thru the eggshell and ruin the egg.
