Received my G73 heater in 2 days. I'm liking the Prime Membership, well worth $79.00 a year. I have a 220v A/C unit in my garage, rated at 20 amp. I didn't want to run any more wire to use this heater, I did purchase it and realized all the post about running 10/2 with a ground and a 30 amp breaker. Well we took the electrical cover off the back, the heater is wired with 12/2 with a ground so we tried it for a couple of days now and it hasn't tripped my 20 amp breaker. I have 12/2 with a ground run, it's about 50' to the breaker box. I bought a Utilitech 12 gauge A/C plug from Lowe's, Model # 0051659 which is the same male plug as my A/C unit, the other end is female, I cut that off to run to the G73. Thermostat is all the way and not tripping the breaker and the wire is not even warm. It's 37 degrees outside and it's 78 degrees in my garage right now, fixing to turn it down a bit. My garage is 24' x 24' insulated. garage door is insulated also. Hope this helps anyone with questions about wiring. Also the Utilitech plug I bought, on the package is 12/3 SPT-3, 20A-250V-5000W. It's December 18th, still running the G73, only after work and on the weekends. I was debating putting a switch, but I don't think my garage gets that cold. From what I understand the lowest setting on the thermostat is 45 degrees, my garage might get to 50 degrees if it's really cold. Running about 4-5 hours a night, still hasn't tripped my 20 amp double breaker, wire still doesn't get warm. My 12/2 wire run to the garage is about 60' from the breaker box also. I'm not saying this is the way to do this, already had someone tell me I was stupid, but it's never unattended and I don't use it often. Update 12-10-14 Second year using the G73 heater, had a problem with it and contacted NewAir,a connector broke off inside the heater. A new heater was sent to me in less than a week. All is good, great customer service.

Just got it installed tonight and it is warming up the garage nicely. I'm not an electrician, but have installed quite a few high voltage items in my house including a kiln and an electric car charger. This was pretty easy. I was surprised there was no cord, I knew it had no plug, but I expected there to be cord. I had no install instructions either, but found them online easy enough - although they were pretty useless. Anyway, a simple 3 wire connection to a cord I bought at Home Depot. I wanted mine to be sort of portable so I used a flexible rubber cord about 10 ft long so I can move it within the garage within that 10 ft limit. Incase you want to tackle it yourself, a 10/3 cord is fine and available at lowes/home depot. The "3" means it will have 3 wires inside it. Send the green wire to the green wire in the heater. Send the black to on of the "other" wires in the heater (they are marked L1 and L2 in the heater). Attach the white wire to the last available wire in the heater. Use #10 gauge wire nuts to connect them and be sure to use an adjustable 'collar" to make the connection snug at the back of the heater. Since this is a single phase AC heater, you don't need to worry about which wire you connect the black and white to. Just don't connect anything but green to the green wire. It's working pretty good - took the chill out in about 15 mins. Now waiting to see if it heat the garage to a comfortable level. If I don't add to this later, assume it did.

MY GARAGE: I have a small 2 car "tuck under the house" garage....so it can be considered insulated, it is 18 X 18 with 8' ceilings, with insulated garage doors... I live in New England. With that said the space does get very cold anyhow.... QUALITY: I build machines for a living, and me personally im old school on quality.....everything made in the USA during the 50's was built well.....needless to say those days are gone, overall im never impressed with anything like this, BUT....I will admit I was happy with the quality of this unit, just the right gauge thickness for the enclosure, mounting bracket was nice and sturdy, so on....It arrived in perfect working order PRICE: I would have liked to see this unit just under the $200.00 mark, just my opinion.... NOISE: It certainly is not a quiet, but you can carry a conversation with someone with out raising your voice if your standing near it... OVERALL: Clearly this unit is a bit more than I need for my size garage, but I picked it for that reason (you should never undersize) it will get the garage from 45 to 68 in less than half hour....then it cycles every 10 to 15 minutes for a few minutes.... COST TO OPERATE: I have not seen the bill yet, but I have electric "spot" heaters in other areas of the house and have used electricity consumption calculators....it is estimated that this 5000 Watt unit running...say 2.5 hours a day (intermittent throughout the day) multiplied by your Kwh price...And here in New England we just got slammed with an electrical price hike...but I shop around for best rates 5000 Watt X 2.5 hours use X .1199Kwh = (about 1.50 a day/$48 a month) well worth it to me, my garage is my shop...

This heater arrived defective. The thermostat sticks intermittently and the heater won't shut off. I ordered it in July and plugged to make ensure it works. The fan operates and it produces heat. I didn't install it until completing my new shop in September, whereupon I discovered that the heater won't always shut down when the desired room temperature is reached. It may cycle on and off for a day or two, holding the temperature around a desired 60 - 65 deg but then I will return to the shop after several hours or overnight and find the temperature at 80 - 90 and the heater running. Turning the control knob the lowest setting has no effect. Unfortunately, Amazon's return policy has expired. Amazon customer service recommended I contact New Air. The warranty requires me to ship the heater to New Air for repair or replacement with shipping costs at my expense. This involves the cost of shipping and I will be without a heater until it is returned. I will probably use this heater, controlling the heat by turning it on and off with the circuit breaker when in the shop and keeping the shop temp above freezing at night with a chicken coop heater until I buy a replacement. At that time, the New Air will go to the trash. A design feature I don't like is the thermostat control knob is inconveniently located on the heater's rear making it impossible to see and difficult to reach.

I have a 3 car attached garage, half of it is uninsulated. In the winter I generally stay out of it but sometimes a project comes up that just has to be done. I have 8 infra red heaters that work pretty decently but they warm you and objects that the light hits but they never really bring the room temp up to a comfortable level. This is a LOT smaller than I expected. Its a little bigger than a 12 pack of beer (bottles not cans). Its pretty simple to wire up (3 wires) and DOES not come with a cord or plug. It does however come with a mounting bracket that can be used to hang it on a wall or from the ceiling. I recommend mounting it at a height that can be reached so that you can adjust the temperature control knob that is located on the back of the unit. Overall I'm pretty happy, even with no insulation in half of the 600sf garage it makes it very tolerable to be out there in a sweatshirt even on a 15 degree days. I think I am going to get one more and forgo my initial plan of installing a gas heater out there. About my reviews. I have a pretty basic rating system 3 stars = meets expectations, in order words it does what its supposed to do. 1 & 2 stars = fails to meet expectations, doesn't cut the mustard. 4 & 5 stars = exceeds expectations. Its gotta REALLY rock to get 5 stars. I try to be as detailed as possible without getting technical. Unit was easy to put up and wire. When turned on it immediately starts to put out heat. With this being said the units fan isn’t big enough to distribute the heat around the garage. I use my oil furnace to heat up garage and this heater to maintain in this instance it does pretty good. It does save on oil and haven’t seen much of an increase in power bill.

I have a loft apartment remodeled in an old wear house. It has amazing natural light with tons of windows, I love it, but it's hard to keep it warm in here, in those winter months. Last year I had 3 1500w heaters running at all time and froze to death! I did not want to do that again! So this year I had my landlord install a 240v 30amp plug so I could hang this bad boy up. It hasn't really got super cold yet, but the few times I have cut it on, it takes the chill out of the air in about 5 mins, I'm very impressed with the heat output on it so far. It's a little noisy, but it's a garage heater, I kind of expected it to be! I just turn the TV up lol *****UPDATE***** I've made it through December and I'm now in January, just a couple days from being into February, with this heater! It's really great! I absolutely love it! I can get my apartment up to 90 degrees with this little baby! We have had snow, and blistering cold temperatures in the 20's with wind chills in the teens, and my apartment feel like summer! I could NOT make this happen with a 1500 watt heater! I run this heater, ALL the time, and it does such a great job!

This little guy is worth its weight in gold. Got it last night and got it hung and hooked up. It really puts out the heat for my shop. This replaced a Dyno Glo heater that had already had a heater replaced and the same heater well went out agin and said no more. Bought this little guy and very pleased with its performance. I highly recommend this heater. You won’t be disappointed!

I would like to say that I have owned this heater for approximately 2 months now and this is what I have learned. I watched a lot of videos to try and find the right heater for my garage. I ended up on this one. I hooked it up my self ( read all instructions ) and I am NOT an electrician but have an idea on hook up. I already had a fuse panel so it was pretty simple for me as I was being walked through by a licensed electrician. I mounted it as high as I could as I have a "tandem" style garage, the first section is 10w x 8h x 20L and connecting section is 14w x 13H x 20 L so my garage is approx 480 sqft plus the ceiling height. I had it on number 6 setting, heater, till I had the garage at a temperature I found comfortable it was at 18 - 20 degrees which is quite warm and it was -8 outside, it was very hot inside the garage. I received my first electrical bill and it was about $54.00 more than previous month but I am in Toronto, Ontario so rates vary. I purchased a thermometer, just a magnetic stick on to my cabinets and lowered the dial setting to 3 on the heater and it holds at a steady 10 to 12 degrees. My garage is well insulated and find that the number 3 setting is more than adequate for me. I did not receive my second bill but it should be arriving soon, I had a natural gas heater ( see pic of gas line ) and it finally broke and found it too costly to repair so I figured I would try electric and see how it goes this winter. The cost was much less than it would've been to buy a new gas heater. Good luck on who ever wants to buy this heater as I am very pleased with it!

I was very happy with this product for the first 11 months. On the 12 month of owning this heater the heating element decided to quit. The fan still works just no heat will be generated anymore. Useless to me as now have to replace for a heat source.

I'd first like to say that after the first shipment went "astray", Amazon immediately remedied the problem and the second shipment arrived as promised! This little unit packs a big punch! I can't believe how effective it is for it's size! It was simple to install (according to the electrician) and warms our two car garage perfectly! Very happy with this item and highly recommend it!

This little heater is amazing! Great price too. Looked at numerous heating units. Those little plug-ins dust do anything for a room on the house so it won’t heat a 2 car garage. Needed something to heat the garage for the gym equipment & workouts through the winter. Some days are -20C abs it is just that cold in there. Our friend did the electric connections & an additional breaker to the house. Works amazing! It’s actually warm in the garage in high setting turning to 1/2 once it heats up after about an hour. There isn’t an on off switch with the ubit. We have a shut off breaker switch for that or it will run as needed (on & off) as the temp rise or falls. Has a bit of a sound but nothing you any continue to have a normal conversation around. Definitely recommend this product but it’s not as simple as plugging iit in.

The unit came within the delivery time promised. I live in Saskatchewan canada and do wood working in my garage which is approx. 500sq ft. I needed a heater that would also blow air as it has faster heat distribution than small radiant heaters.You will need a 240 30 amp breaker to hook up in your panel. You will also need an outlet box and 30 amp two wire cable. I installed my heater in corner of garage directing it across garage. Took about 30 minutes to install.It has a built in thermostat on /off switch on back of unit, turned it on and in seconds hot air blowing. the front has louvers which I recommend you tilt down towards floor at about 45 degrees.This ensures your floor gets heat and rises up circulates great. My garage temp was minus 10 c and in half hour it was 10c +. given the temperature outside was minus 24c , my garage is insulated, it got to comfortable 20c+.recommend this heater.
