This little radio has very good quality sound. As is often the case, the instructions could be better. As far as I can see, there is nothing to say how to change to the 3 pin adaptor (it comes with a 2 pin one). There are arrows to show which direction to twist it off but I didn't notice the little button you have to press to release the adaptor and nearly wrenched the adaptor off. Programming is reasonable but I didn't realise at first that when setting the alarm volume, the row of little squares indicate this. The USB socket at the back is useful for charging your phone.

Monty has replaced a straight DAB radio in our kitchen. It looks fantastic in our country kitchen, is easy to use and most importantly the sound quality and volume are superb for such a compact unit. Finish and design are spot on, controls feel nice and the screen is very easy to read.It's not going to compete with a sound system with its singular 10w speaker, but for low level background/entertaining volumes its crystal clear and can go nice and loud when a favorite track comes on, retaining crisp sound and surprisingly good bass for a small unit.Bluetooth pairing takes around 5 seconds and hasn't caused any issues yet - this will depend somewhat on what you're using to stream from, but range seems excellent (iPhone 7+); I was in the loft the other day, still happily streaming to Monty in the kitchen.If you're looking for a kitchen/diner radio that fits in with a wide range of styles and can hold its own in the sound quality department - Monty is what you're looking for.

Bought to sit on tall refrigerator in kitchen, using mains power, and only a small number of pre-set UK stations, mostly used for speech (news, discussions, lectures, etc.) and only occasionally (classical) music, e.g. on Classic FM channel or Radio 3.So far very impressed, except for obscure instructions and clumsy mechanism for switching between pre-set channels after they have been set up. There should be a mode in which channels can be quickly changed using left/right or up/down buttons, instead of having to press '*' every time before switching between pre-set channels.Comments in reviews indicate that many users have not understood the instructions. Having a tiny manual with very terse microscopic text may have saved paper and ink but is *very* user-unfriendly, especially thoughtless for elderly long-sighted users -- other reviewers have also complained. Really thoughtless and pointless.I have not yet tried listening to news while kitchen extractor fan is on, but it should work on maximum volume.So far I am very impressed by the sound that comes from such a small box (smaller than I expected when I ordered it) -- apart from slight irritating "boom" not noticed at first. I would have welcomed controls for changing bass and treble levels, but they would have added to the cost.I don't expect I'll ever need it to be portable, and I have not ordered a battery.I may update this review after more experience with the radio: so far it's several days.

I absolutely love my new DAB Radio. Not only does it have a gorgeous Emma Bridgewater design, it is very easy to use and has excellent sound quality. I love that I can link it to my devices with Bluetooth to play podcasts and music too. My only gripe is that it needs to be clearer that it doesn’t come with a battery pack, which I then had to order separately once I realised. It can be mains operated but I have it on a bookshelf so needed the battery. It’s also portable so you carry it around if you’re moving from room to room. It would a lovely gift.

I decided to purchase the radio based on its British design and was highly recommended by Which.My original Monty arrived in excellent cosmetic condition. I checked all the functions and found that the station presets did not work. I reset the radio and they still did not function.I contacted Ligo the seller and their customer and technical support was exemplary and they recommended obtaining a replacement unit. I decided to return the original radio for a refund from Amazon and ordered a replacement which arrived the following day. Excellent service received from Amazon as usual.I checked all the functions including the station presets and everything worked fine. The batteries which have to be purchased seperately and are bespoke to this radio are charged within the radio in standby mode. I found the batteries on the internet at a much reduced price.I use the radio every day, mainly on the standalone battery function and it is performing very well, the sound quality is amazing for a single speaker and such a small unit. The battery life is exceptional and the batteries (I have two) arrived fully charged.I am very pleased with my Monty to the present date and would highly recommend this radio which is number 1 on the Which best buy list for portable DAB and DAB+ radios.If you decide to purchase, don't forget to go to the manufacturer's website and register the unit for a 3 year extended warranty which is reassuring.

I am a fan of Laura Ashley items , but not on this occasion !!The Portable DAB Radio looks very nice with the blue and white pattern , but is not particularly good quality and fails to pick up most radio stations at my area , whereas , some other of my radios are able to do so.I do not recommend purchasing Laura Ashley Portable DAB Radio !!Wyn Jones

This is a super radio. Looks good, stylish. Sound is phenomenal in speech and music. So easy to connect phone and tablets with Bluetooth. A friend says she thinks it is the best ever sound she has heard from a small radio. Easy to set up and use.I not only have a new radio but also a great speaker for other devices. Good value for money. Highly recommended

Good design and sound

Très bel objet, mais lors de la réception j'ai du re clipser la façade avant autours de l'écran, les boutons semblaient enfoncés et il y avait beaucoup de vibration dès qu'on montait légèrement le volume. Une fois tout clipsé correctement plus aucunes vibrations.Son plus que correct, bonne réception DAB et les stations restent mémorisées même en débranchant le transfo (sans batterie). Juste le volume à la mise sous tension qui redevient un peu trop fort à mon goût.Pas très facile dans un premier temps pour les menus, mais le style minimaliste avec très peu de bouton y est pour quelque chose. Il vaut mieux garder le mode d'emploi sous la main les premiers jours.Voir dans le temps... mais pour le moment je suis très content de mon achat.

Je cherchais une belle radio, avec une alarmeJe ne suis pas déçue, beau, esthétique et performant, je le conseille vivement, bon son, très bien emballé et livré le lendemain de ma commande, PARFAIT

Very beautiful and quality is acceptable, the cath kidston cover had some very minor imperfections. Also UAE doesn't have DAB.

Super radio, très joli, belle finition, DAB efficace, simple d'utilisation, le seul hic, c'est bien de devoir trouver une batterie rechargeable pour cette radio que le fournisseur ne propose pas, ou en rupture de stock...et pas d'indication simple pour une batterie équivalente de substitution...Vraiment dommage car le produit est très bien .
