Can the chickens that are wearing this device still eat and drink with this on?

Yes, they do just fine eating & drinking. It only throws their vision off enough to keep them from fighting. Just make sure you look at some pictures to make sure you put them on properly. If on upside down their beak will be between the top & bottom pieces & won't be able to eat or drink!

How long can they stay on a chicken before they need removed?

I’m not sure what the recommended but I had mine on them for over a month before I took them off.

Does this come with the pliers

Mine came with pliers. Make sure the description says 'with pliers'. Some look like they are sold with out pliers.
