I’ve struggled with insomnia for years and years, in part due to what i call “runaway brain” and the inability to fall asleep for over an hour or more. I thought it would get better with retirement but it didn’t. I’ve tried CBD, THC, antihistamine, melatonin, white noise, listening to podcasts with a pillow speaker, turning off blue screens by 8 pm, all to no avail. So while watching the morning news recently there was mention of the benefits of weighted blankets, which I had heard of before but considered them to be a gimmick. But this news report talked about the how they release serotonin levels. So I thought, what the hell, and went off and did some research online. I eventually choosing this YnM bamboo blanket after reading many reviews. Because I weigh 115 lbs I bought the 12 lb blanket. (The proper weight is 10% of your body weight). At first i thought it might be too heavy - it does take a bit of getting used to, and I probably would have done well with a 10 lb too, but it’s not enough for me to exchange it for the lighter blanket. I do feel that i am getting used to the weight after two weeks. What happened right away is that the first time i used it I fell asleep within 30 minutes. And even though i still had to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, i went right back to sleep. It was my first night of 8 hours of sleep in months and months! However, I didn’t credit the blanket just yet because it was particularly cold that evening and sleep is always better during winter weather. But second night, same thing. While I did get a little warmer in the middle of the night and threw it off, I later put it back on and slept until 8 am. Again, i had 8 hours of sleep, without runaway brain and also falling asleep faster. This is unprecedented for me. I’ve now been sleeping with this blanket for a couple of weeks and have decided there is indeed something to weighted blankets and better sleep. I am having vivid dreams that tells me i am getting deeper sleep. At times in the morning i don’t want to get out of bed because it feels so cozy. (I’m so glad I’m retired!) Observing my experience, my husband is now interested in getting one as he too suffers from insomnia, so we are going to get 20 lb twin size for him. That way i can get rid of the blanket under the quilt which I believe will help us from getting too warm. I do love the soft satiny feel of the fabric and the color gray that I ordered is a beautiful light gray. It was surprising how flat it lays when folded (see photo) as I was expecting it to be bulky. I may do an update here later and give the blanket 5 stars but it’s still a bit early and i want to see if it holds up and how it washes. I decided against buying the duvet cover as reviews show that it doesn’t fit that well. Also i want the blanket to look nice when folded and i don’t want to struggle every day getting it off and on. Edited to add on 7-11-20. I changed my review to five stars after sleeping with this blanket for months. It’s amazing. And is still like new. I am even using it in summertime and it does not make me hot (we do have air conditioning and cool air keeps the blanket fabric cool.) my husband loves his too. I’ve recommended this to many friends.

This is my second blanket from this brand with almost the exact same base dimensions and weight. I had the original YM cotton weighted blanket with glass beads, and I remember when I wrote a review on it it was still soon after getting it in some of my glass beads have gotten compacted in the edges and made me feel like the filling was wrong so I left a slightly scathing review. I can’t find it to correct it now, but allow me to say that this blanket is absolutely amazing. I thought it was very affordable for the quality and I was very pleased because I also got a cover for it. I love the softness and smoothness of the bamboo fabric and how breathable it is. I also love that they have added more Thai spots on the blanket itself as well to the duvet cover, and that they sit on one side of the blanket versus right at the scenes, which I think will make it a lot better to make sure no knots sit on you if you sensitive. I absolutely love the color and the sizing was perfect. The stitching is great quality and I’m so impressed with the micro pocket design. It keeps everything in place and so evenly distributed that the blanket felt lighter than it should’ve been. I literally weighed myself within without it twice to make sure it was the correct weight which it was. Immediately, after putting the cover on, I pulled it over myself and lay down on the kitchen floor because it felt so good when I was just putting the cover on I had to test it right then in there. Absolutely exactly what I needed and I’m looking forward to actually using it for sleep. I will try to remember to update this after I have done that as I am a very hot sleeper myself. I know with the right sand and ventilation. My old blanket worked fine and with this one being more breathable with better design, it should be even better. This blanket feels like something premium for half the price and I’m just so pleased with it. I can’t even describe how much I love it. It also like to point out that it’s not super thick well also not being super thin, which is nice. It’s my bed and my person perfectly while I’m monochromatic. I know it’s purple and I love that I was told the color is very vibrant and true to the picture and expectation. I think the design of the blanket it’s so making it appear lighter and easier to move just by design improvements will also make it a lot more comfortable and safe feeling for people who need the grounding without potentially ending up feeling like they’re being trapped for the week shifts around too much like an older designs. UPDATE: I have been sleeping with this for a few nights now, and it is still so amazing. The weight stays properly distributed without making any particularly heavy patches or making it difficult to maneuver the blanket. I actually do in fact, find it extremely breathable and while it is summer and my sleeping space is in a hotspot in the house with the fan I still have only woken up just slightly down. I’m also impressed with how easy it is to maneuver the blanket without feeling like it’s a struggle if you need to when changing positions, so it has even stopped me from tossing and turning. I fall asleep a lot better and I sleep a lot more solidly, and it even has improved my dream quality as I often have nightmares from my PTSD. I am still just so impressed with this blanket. It is my favorite thing. I also find it easy and still very comfortable again with no strange weight distribution if I have to maneuver the blanket to have a bit of a gap for part of my body out for cooling purposes, which is just amazing. I would absolutely recommend this blanket to anybody who wants it to try out and need something reasonable with a decent weight. The only other blankets I’ve ever heard better about are the expensive gravity kind and yeah I can’t afford that crap. I will say I have the bamboo duvet cover also by YNM over it which makes it extra comfortable and means I don’t have to worry as much if I do get sweaty or anything because I can take the cover off and wash when needed. Definitely definitely recommend this blanket. I cannot stop gushing about how much I love it.

Great blanket, well made, love the smaller squares. Even weight distribution and fabric is very cooling. This is a high quality summer weighted blanket!

I'm a little disappointed with the concept of using a weighted blanket. First of all this is a beautifully made weighted blanket. I am a slim short woman, and I was afraid that this 20lb blanket would be too heavy but its not too heavy. It is the end of a cold snowy winter, and I had to use a few extra wool blankets on top of it to keep warm through the night. I did sleep well with all the blankets on.

Good quality, works perfectly with the branded duvet cover. It is cooling enough on its own. Adding a sheet can actually make it too warm. The fit on a single side of a queen bed is exactly right to have enough coverage.

Where have you been my whole life?!!! This is a restless-leg-sufferer's dream-come-true (pun intended)! No more endless nights of tossing and turning. Nearly instantly, the restless-leg is silenced! I originally went with a different brand blanket. It was too hot and the 7” pocket size made it too awkward and floppy to manage. This YnM Cooling Weighted Blanket has 2” pockets for the beads; not only for more even weight distribution throughout the blanket, but makes it much easier to manage. The maneuverability may not be as necessary of a consideration with a smaller or less-weighty blanket, but with the queen-size at 25 pounds, it sure makes a difference. The charts are very helpful for deciding blanket weight recommendations for body weight as well. The cooling side on this blanket also really does help from getting too warm. While the blue and grey blanket itself is beautiful and soft, I would strongly recommend a cover, to help protect the blanket from less-frequent washing (my washing machine thanks me). I read many reviews on different blankets and covers, and many were displeased; stating a need for more ties on both the blankets and the covers. This blanket has an ample 16 loops! I paired this blanket with this 16-string cover: YnM Exclusive Cooling Rayon Derived from Bamboo & Cozy Velvet Dual-Sided Duvet for Weighted Blankets with 16 Strings (60''x80'') - Blue Grey. I have tactile sensitivities, so I was a bit skeptical with how the cooling-side fabric would feel on my skin. I ran the cover through the wash, and it feels soft! I am so delighted with my purchase!! I appreciate the Certified OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100. So many thoughtful details were obviously considered in the design of this blanket. A worthwhile investment for my sleep and my health. Now, you’ll have to excuse me…. I’m going to sneak off for a nap! 😉

It's absolutely wonderful. I sleep so much better and I don't experience leg or body pains like i use too. It relaxes and seems to add the right amount pressure to produce a massaging affect. However, I did turn the blanket the short way (I'm 5'9") so it wouldn't cover my toes, I didn't like the weight pull/press feel on my toes. I suggest you follow the guideline to determine the blanket weight when purchasing. I've purchased a blanket before and didn't follow the guidelines. Although that blanket provided some comfortable, it's nothing like this one. This one feels so much better and I especially like that the squares are sewn like 2" apart. It's worth the money. The packaging added a nice touch also.

This blanket is not cooling as one would believe. It is cool to the touch but absorbs body heat. The weighting is fine but definitely not a summer blanket unless you your ac is set on 70 or less at night.

Love my blanket. It took a few sleeps to get used to the weight but now try and get it away from me. Brought three more for my sons.

Pricey for the King and heavy when bunched, but so far looks to be high quality and well made. Sensory sleeper really likes it!

Bought as a gift and I keep hearing how wonderful it is, and how sleep promoting. Even the dog seems to appreciate it! Only thing that would make it better would be a washable cover...
