Heat WILL kill your Battery
Batteries only last 3-4 years due to thin plates inside... Optima batteries use a cylindrical process which make them last longer.

Purchased Mar 10, 2017 - STILL GOOD
Man, you just can't beat Optima. I've purchased a couple more since then for different vehicles. But, I've used this battery in cars, as a battery just for jump starting cars, and now it's back in another car. Now, has the quality of Optima changed since 2017? I dunno, I'll find out with my most recent couple of purchases, but in my experience, you can't beat an Optima batttery. Top notch quality. There's still ZERO leakage. The battery life is at over 9 years old now and STILL working like new. They look great under the hood and, more importantly, fit great. My first experience with one of these batteries was back in 2004 or 2005. I couldn't believe the abuse it withstood and it never quit working or gave any issues. I think you're better off buying an Optima battery, pay that premium, and have a good battery for a decade or longer rathter than buying cheap batteries at half the price every 10-12 months like I've been doing on some of my vehicles. There's no better battery brand out there.

Nissan Dealership Head Mechanic was blown away.
This is my second RedTop and it will not be my last. Sure, a battery isn't all that exciting, or at least it isn't until you forget your lights on during a football game. When you return hours later to find that a car that still cranks, that's when you realize just how good of a purchase you made. The first Optima RedTop went into my wife's Nissan Altima after her stock battery bit the dust. She took her car into the dealership for an oilchange a couple of weeks after I put it in. The head mechanic came out to meet her in the office when she went to pick up her car. I guess he had never ran into a RedTop, or at least a new one, before because he went on and on about it. He said that it was registering off the charts on their testing equipment. He even said that he would be buying RedTops for all of his vehicles from now on. This RedTop went into my old beater 00 Ford Ranger. I only use the truck when I need to haul something so it doesn't gets cranked up much. Dead batteries were pretty common before but I dropped the RedTop in it. I haven't had to jump it once (6+ mo of ownership) even though I've used the truck less and it's cold. I'm truly impressed with this battery and can not recommend it enough. It's cheaper on Amazon than any of the local auto shops, even with their gimmicky coupons or promos. This model came with a bunch of adapters to help with the fit. While I didn't need them, I appreciated the forethought.

5 stars so far
I've had this battery for a couple years so far and it's working great with excellent starting power. The battery came well packaged encased in thick foam. I'm giving it a cautious 5 stars so far because ever since learning Optima moved production to Mexico, quality went down as well according to long time users who routinely got 10 years use out of them but are now sometimes getting less than three. My old Exide agm battery lasted almost 10 years but I can't find that one anymore. But I must say this Optima starts the car much quicker than the Exide one did. The car seems to have more eager pep and acceleration. The only question remains how long it'll last. If i get at least 8 years out of this one, I'd definitely get another one when the time comes. UPDATE: 1/16/2025 Had this battery for a full three years now and it's still going strong, starting the car fast as ever. No diminished performance anywhere as far as i can tell. Very satisfied so far. Hope I can get at least another 3 years out of it. If I do, I'll get another one when the time comes.

Enjoy it while it lasts.. briefly.
EDIT: DO NOT BUY THIS!! These used to be the best on the market, but these must be old stock! Mine lasted about 3 months and only one drive in my truck! I had a lot going on at this time and couldn't drive my truck more often, nor take time to return the battery, but I will never buy here again! We drove it ONE NIGHT and then it wouldn't even turn over the starter on the truck.. tested it and it was toast!! I will now have to find another company and hope they are as good as Optima USED TO BE.. This is a great battery as everyone knows by now. This only my 2nd one I have ever bought, because they have long lifespans. I put this one in my 2003 Ram 1500, that has the Off Road Package. Though it was a little too small for the battery tray in my truck, they provide adapters to make this battery fit in many vehicles. My truck had the upgraded battery when I ordered it from Dodge new, which was up from 500 amps to 700 amp. This battery though, even blows those numbers out of the water with 800 & 1000 respectively! I installed this along with a new Gladiator alternator and a new Gatorback serpentine belt and it all runs beautifully! I can't say enough about these batteries and have converted my whole family of gearheads over to the Optima line of batteries. Those people saying that these are overhyped, obviously either got that one in a thousand dud, or they think that batteries are indestructible and abused the heck out of them. Remember, there isn't a battery on earth that will not eventually die.. It was shipped to me in double box packaging, which very thick foam pieces holding it in place and arrived in perfect condition. You just can not beat Amazons price and ease of shopability with things like these. You go to Autozone and pay 185 for a junk battery that will maybe last one year, or you can buy this and just wait 2 or 3 days to have it.

Great battery even better cost
My last Optima Red Top lasted 8 years in my 2001 V8 Grand Cherokee. It recently developed a bulge on top and did not hold much charge/got weak but after 8 years I cannot fault the battery it did a great job and never left me stranded and always had reserve power to run the stereo etc with the engine off from time to time. So I checked Amazon and found the same battery to replace my old one. Hope for another 8 years. When I sell the Jeep I will be keeping my Optima. I also have a Optima Blue Top deep cycle in my boat and it was bought in 2007 and still takes a full charge and works great. Optima is the best battery for the best cost hands down. People who are having issues with them are not using the correct charger or charging at too fast a rate. Never charge a Optima over 10 amps slower is better 6 amps or less is preferred and only use a charger designed for AGM batteries. Never discharge a Optima all the way down and you won't have issues.

Check Your Battery Before Installing
I've purchased a few of these in my lifetime, and have several tips: -Don't wait to test out your optima, in case you receive a defective one and need a warranty replacement. The last optima I purchased had some kind of defect, it arrived undercharged and couldn't hold a charge and would heat up excessively by itself - see the first pic, it's a FLIR shot of the battery. - So - Before installing, charge your battery out and see if it heats up too much. It will save you time and energy in the long run if you install your battery, only to have to remove it when it doesn't hold a charge. -Secondly, make sure you use an AGM charger - these can use a normal charger, but an AGM one works best with these. ones that have a Spiral Cell AGM setting are best, but if you only have one to test yours out when receiving that's fine, the red tops are made to take a normal alternator current anyways. What's the difference between normal and agm chargers? AGMs have a different float charge than "wet" lead acid batteries.

Great Battery
The battery was shipped to me in manufacturers packaging in a double walled cardboard box and foam inserts on top and bottom for added protection. The box is specifically made for shipping this battery. I was confused what the option for hassle free shipping was and so I decided to save $45 and purchase the battery without that option. After doing so I was a bit concerned that it would be shipped in some sub-standard way, I was pleasantly surprised that it was fully protected and ended up being "hassle-Free" shipping anyways and without the added cost for the option! The battery arrived with a plastic battery top cover which can be attached to the bottom to increase the height for specific applications where this is necissary, the plastic top cover also cleverly concealed several other installation attachments. For my F-150 I needed the two side attachments which snap on to make the battery wider so that it can be properly secured in the factory location using the factory hold down. I would give 5 stars but I have only had the battery installed for a few days so I am unsure if its going to last as long as my previous Optima which lasted 7 years in the AZ heat! This one is manufactured in Mexico, I am pretty sure my previous Optima was manufactured in the USA. Be careful when checking out, I couldn't change the shipping choice from my mobile phone app and ended up getting standard 3-5 day shipping which wouldnt be that bad except that when you need a battery....you need a battery now! The battery was delivered in 5 days, I was hoping for quicker, but it wasn't a surprise that it took the full advertised time frame.

Solid, reliable, worth it.
Installed the RedTop in my weekend project car, an older model that doesn't see daily use. Initial impressions? Solid. The cold starts have been noticeably quicker, even after sitting idle for weeks. The build quality seems up to par with the premium you pay, and installation was straightforward with the included instructions and adapters. Haven't had the chance to put it through extreme conditions yet, but so far, it's living up to expectations. If it holds up over the next few years as my last battery did, it'll be worth the investment. Only time will tell, but for now, it's performing as advertised.

Red top optima, junk. 3 x now
Battery lasted 6 months. Won't hold charge. Defective, charged with special AGM charger, shows Defective. 3 year warranty doesn't apply because Amazon is not an authorized dealer.
