Excellent product!!!
I am using this product with a windows 11 PC, a Schiit HEL2 dac/amp (which I cannot recommend), and a pair of Hifiman Edition XS Headphones. Fit: This thing fits perfectly on Edition XS which is an open back planar magnetic headphone. There is not a lot of surface area for the adhesive to stick as there are air gaps in the headphone and the connector is not sitting flush. Despite this the adhesive makes a solid connection to the headphone and I have no concern of the effectiveness of the adhesive. Sound: The quality of the sound is excellent. Note that your milage may vary as the microphone is passive so you will need adequate amplification from whatever device you plug the headphones into (for me it the shiit hel 2. I do not necessarily recommend this setup because i have had some quality issues with the hel2. Note that you will also need to adjust the microphone settings in the windows setting's app as well as in the game or application that you are using this with. Quality: I cannot think of any complaints in the area of quality. The device feels solid, everything works as it should (no issues with the mute button) and the included accessories are nice. Conclusion: This is a well-built product and performs as advertised. I would buy this product again if need be and have no problems recommending it to anyone that understands what is needed and how to configure/amplify a passive microphone.

Very high quality
I’ve used this for a number of months now and it has worked flawlessly. I use it with my SoundBlaster G6 external sound card. This is the key to using this mic. You need a good sound card. The people complaining about this picking up everything is accurate. Because that is what an analog microphone does. There is no software or circuitry built-in to the microphone. It is just a high quality analog mic. Filtering out background noise happens on the software level. If you buy a mic that plugs into a USB port then it might already have some circuitry built into it that filters noise. Depending on how much you spent on that mic determines the quality of that mic and DAC. The SoundBlaster G6 filters out everything very well and this mic allows me to be heard more clearly. The mic mount is magnetic and can stick onto any headphones. I placed it on my Beyerdynamics DT 990 Pro for when I need to do online conferencing or of course… gaming. Now I can scream back at the people telling me I suck.

Good product if you like being in cable hell
I like almost everything about the modmic except the fact that it adds another unwieldy cable to my headphones. I tried to deal with it but with differing cable length and thickness it’ll always be imperfect in one way or another. Attaching it is easy as pie though I wish the mic arm was a little more bendable. You can bend it but it feels like you’ll break it if you do. It’s hard to judge sound quality for microphone objectively, especially since you’re generally not the one listening to it, but in the few tests I’ve done it sounds more than acceptable and nobody has complained about not hearing me yet. I had to get another cable to join the mic jack and heaphone jack into my laptop’s combo jack. I don’t know how long the glue will keep the widget attached to your headphones and bumping the mic can cause the magnet to detach and the mic unceremoniously dropping off. It may sound like I’m mostly complaining, but this is a huge upgrade from what I had before!

Exactly what I needed.
After my partner moved in, I needed to move away from using a mic with to much sensitivity so it wouldnt pick them up as we game in the same room. This solution was perfect. I just cant go back to gaming headsets, as i love my Audio technicas to much, and this lets me turn them into a tradtional headset with 2 cables. I will admit, my amazing spring cable that came with my headphones gets nerfed having this one be the new tether, and it has the fault some cables have where it tangles itself, but it does come with clips to attach it to the headphone cable minimizing this a bit. It included 2 magnets in mine which just peel/stick on to my two pairs of headphones I can swap easily as well. Quality is up to snuff for me as well, it plugs right into my soundcard so I can even manage it easily if I need to. Bonus it has a mute switch which is a must on a mic for me. Its a bit expensive, but it makes me setup work which is all I need. Wish the wireless one was a bit cheaper, this works well enough for my use cases.

Did not live up to expectations
I had heard lots of good things about the modmic, but I did not find myself liking it that much. A list of issues I had with it: - The magnetic clip is more annoyance than it is worth. Walking too far away by accident while wearing the headset causes the microphone to get yanked off unexpectedly. The strength of the magnet means that attaching the microphone causes a very loud bang that echoes through the headphones into the ear unless done very carefully. Rotating the microphone in its holder also causes loud noises. I'm sure these noises were communicated people I was voice chatting with when this microphone fell off of the headset and needed to be reattached. - Having a separate cord for headphones and the microphone gets clunky and they tangle together often. - The microphone toggle switch hanging from the cord is not the most convenient to find quickly. Moreover, there is no visual indicator to tell whether your microphone is on at any given moment, I would repeatedly feel the switch to make sure mine was off sometimes. - My mic picked up lots of static through my motherboard's integrated sound card. It also had some very weird recording qualities where it would pick up very wide and tall waveforms that were not even audible but showed up in the visualizer. I ended up buying a cheap USB soundcard to fix the static issue. I ended up replacing the modmic with a Fifine USB desktop mic which has been much less bothersome to me. I can clearly see when it is muted or not, the sound quality is better (no interference from the motherboard since it is USB), it has a gain knob on the front, and it is far less annoying to deal with in terms of cables and magnetic attachments.

The best way to add mic support to your high quality headphones like my ATH-M50X
Great, adjustable, easy to understand and install, comes with everything you need. I separately purchased a 3.5mm headset adapter, which let's you combine the headphone output and mic input into one port for use with phones and other devices with combo 3.5mm ports. I actually think it'd be great if an adapter like that came with the ModMic in the future, or a small multi button controller for skipping songs and such. I appreciate that due to the magnet design, when I don't need the boom mic I can rip it off. Negatives: 1) lots of wires when you consider that you're using an already wired headset and adding a mic with a separate cord. The cables are also of different lengths, so velcro and other methods to control them still get out of hand. 2) The magnet is weak enough that the mic can be pulled off your face easily, causing loud noises on the other end. My cats have discovered this and love to tug on the mic cord while I'm using it, because even a light rug rips the mic off my face.

Decent sound quality, the accessories are a joke. For the price, this shouldn't be an issue.
First and foremost, this is not the best quality of sound that you can get for this price range. That's including both microphones designed with this application in mind or buying something that stands on your desk. That's not saying it's bad...but I'll get to more of that in a bit. In my unit, BOTH of the receiving magnetic pieces that are meant to go on the headphones had their peelable plastic over the adhesive backing already off. (I'm assuming it fell off in transit at one point.) Add to the fact that the amount of plastic clips they include to clip this very long chord up to your headset is a laughable amount, then the sound had better be absolutely spectacular for the price considering the disappointing accessories. The actual quality of what's being recorded isn't terrible. In a quiet environment, it's noticeably clear without being tinny or poppy. It does sound a little flat and hollow but the quality is still pretty good. Throw any amount of background noise or chatter into the mix though and it's no different than any other $20 microphone that you can plug into a 3.5mm port. The fact that this is advertised as noise cancelling is baffling to me. Clearly they are marketing it that way because the microphone is not omni-directional. So, noise cancelling is an absolute falsehood. If the sound was better or there were more clips and magnetic with receivers that I could use out of the box then this might have gotten a 4 star review from me. The fact that I had to peel off the backing, apply the "extra" one that is supplied, and the price all put this as a hard pass from me.

I Wish I Had this Sooner!
I'm a quiet person and have a crowded setup on my desk for work so I have limited space for a desk mic or arm mic to be. I've struggled with headsets that come with mics sounded horrid, or desk/arm mics picking everything but me up. I wish I would've known about this sooner cause it's phenomenal. Have a magnet set up on my tower and on my headset so when I get up to move can just put the mic on my tower. It picks up me and not all the random stuff going on around me, and is clear in quality. Was worth the money as it's saved so much frustration.

It mounts easily using a small magnetic base, sits securely in place, and delivers clear voice pickup for gaming, calls, or recording. The one‑size design keeps things simple, and the flexible boom lets you position the mic exactly where you want it. A clean, practical upgrade if you prefer your own headphones but still want quality voice audio.

This device can just stop working out of the blue for no reason whatsoever.
There's no online recourse btw. Just absolutely dumb "did you try boosting the mic volume?" suggestions from people who KNOW that doesn't work but insist on wasting your time. This device can legit just STOP WORKING WITHOUT WARNING. No feedback, nothing. Just done. Unbelievably frustrating if you're looking for a high quality mic for various purposes (professional, personal, etc). This mic is TOO EXPENSIVE TO BE BREAKING SO SUDDENLY WITHIN 30 DAYS OF PURCHASE. Yes, I am livid. Something this expensive should not cost so much damn money. Also, do yourself a favor and get a cord extension or go wireless or just get a headset with a mic. The magnet is detachable so any tug at all on your mic will detach momentarily and rotate 45 degrees upwards from its last position. Very aggravating.
