Natrapel Tick & Insect Repellent, 12-Hour Protection, Pump Spray 3.4oz, 3Pk

Natrapel has no DEET and it still repels mosquitoes. I have been using this repellent for over 2 years and it really works. I actually saw a mosquito land on my arm and quickly fly away. The smell is even pleasant and I've never had any skin reaction.

This is a follow up review. I reached out to the company directly bc I could not get either can to spray. It would have been smart to include these instructions on aspirate card w the orders. Christie Adventure Brands. Please try putting the can in the unlocked position. Put the can on a hard surface. Take your thumb and push down as hard as you can. There is a new seal that needs to be broken in order for the can to spray. If you're still having trouble after trying that, please give us a call back. That did the trick now sprays just fine. Yes a little oily but I liked this product very much and it kept the bugs a Su as u weeded the overgrown garden and hauled debris off into the woods surrounding our property.

These are great when traveling and easy to spray at the pants, shoes. but the bottles leak a lot even when new. I had to put them in to zip locks and keep in my back pack bottle holder to avoid my whole life to smell like them. It was clear they leak so even before the trip I packed them securely. You wanna carry a glove with you to avoid getting your hands saturated. But these kid of sprays are safer because they don’t make the bug repellent go aerosol and reduce the risk of inhalation.

I've found the citronella-based bug sprays to be effective, but after a while the scent can be overpowering. I hike in areas that have lots of mosquitoes, gnats and ticks, and these range from being an annoyance to downright dangerous. Ticks carry all sorts of diseases in my areas and I'm not always shy about crossing through grassy areas. I come from the days when 100% DEET was what we wore when we were in the woods. It works, but it also stinks like chemicals and can irritate skin. If I needed it, I would use it and not look back. Mild irritation is way better than Lyme disease or any of the mosquito-borne pathogens. However, for my casual hikes I've rarely needed anything stronger than a mild repellent. I got tired of smelling like citronella so I bought this as an experiment. Last time I used it I found that it kept mosquitoes and gnats away from me. Not completely-- I ended up with a bite on my arm-- but I was also hiking in an area with lots of standing water (IE lots of mosquitoes) and I only lightly dusted myself with spray. I've found that if I mist my hat, my arms, my face and the back of my neck, I can keep away most or all of the flying insects. A quick spray on my pants has so far managed to keep me tick-free, though we're not in peak tick season right now. But since I carry a can in the pocket of my hiking pack, I can reapply or go heavier whenever I need to. The aerosol can doesn't hold as much as a pump sprayer, but it's very convenient. Since I use a small amount, a can tends to last me a while. Again, if I was going into a brushy or very swampy area where I'd use a lot of this stuff it might be a problem, but so far it's been fine for my casual hikes. This spray is perfect to keep in your pack for those times when you need just a little protection against insects. It's a good compromise between nothing at all and a nuclear option like Ben's 100.

This stuff works much better than Deet and less harsh on your skin.

I didn't realize this wasn't returnable, though I didn't think I would need to. And yes, I read that some people had difficulty getting it to spray. But I am strong and I can usually figure things out. I cannot do this myself. My 40 year old daughter can spray it, but it takes a lot of pressure with both of her thumbs. Even if I could do that, how would I spray it on myself??? I just can't believe you'd sell something so obviously faulty and then not allow returns. One bottle was sprayed for one second. It was hard, hard work for a very strong 40 year old. :-(

Keeps mosquitoes off for hours.

I live on a farm and I am planning a camping trip next month. Because mosquitoes like me too much, I bought three different natural repellants and had my husband and son try them out in the fields and when they feed our animals. They readily agreed to be my guinea pigs, um, test subjects! We have a lot of grassy alfalfa and during irrigation, the mosquitoes are virulent, to say the least. The first repellant was lavender, lemongrass, and peppermint based, which smelled nice and went on easily, but it did nothing to repel mosquitoes and my guys came back covered in bites. The second repellant stated it was good for town or jungle, but my guys didn't like how sticky it felt, although they did say it was effective at keeping the onslaught of mosquitoes at bay. Unfortunately, the hay stuck to them like the mosquitoes would have. This product, Natrapel, was the resounding winner of the three! Not only did it go on easily, was odorless, and wasn't sticky, the big factor was nary a single mosquito tried to bite my husband or son. It was as if the mosquitoes had moved on to better hunting grounds. Without any type of repellant, the mosquitoes would swarm and target every inch of exposed skin, go for the eyes, and bite the heck out of them. I'm hopeful and confident I will be safe from the mosquitoes when I go camping and use this product.
