Life-Saving "Fashion Don't"
OK, if you are into fashion, look elsewhere, ha ha! This is a snug fit on my average size female head. I only wear this when it is deathly cold outside. In the picture (lake in the background) I am modeling the hat under a hood and ski mask, so you can't see much of it. This day was a 2019 Polar Vortex day in the Great Lakes Region. The actual temperature was 15 below zero, the windchill about -40 F. I left no skin exposed and was very warm.I like that it can cover the nose and mouth and that is very important when dealing with sub-zero conditions. It is not at all bulky, and so it can easily fit under a hood. It doesn't move or change position like 99% of my other hats, which I always have to tug back into place (which is a pain when shoveling or blowing snow.)Sadly, like most cases where you cover your mouth and nose, your glasses/goggles/ski mask is gonna fog up. That particular day, it fogged the mask up so badly that it was like trying to see through wax paper. So I blindly pushed the shovel until I met resistance, then lifted and heaved! I would call that the Helen Keller method of snow removal, but that would be insensitive! So this hat with mask in place, fogged & obscured my vision by 90%. But, in those temperatures, skin can freeze in 10 minutes. This saved my skin!On not-so-brutally cold days, this works just fine. I own nothing better. This is my cold weather go-to. Surprisingly warm for such a lightweight item. Oh, and another fashion note...it WILL totally crush your hair. Yup!

OK for lite coverage but not much else.
The product runs small. It gives fairly decent coverage in the front but there is no protection for the back of your neck whatsoever. It cuts the edge off in a lite wind but when it got upward of 10mph the product did not do the job.

I approve for use in Alaska
I purchased this item after losing my husbands first one on a hunting trip. He was so happy with the first one that he wanted the same one. I purchased one for myself as well and have been very happy with it. Living in Alaska there are days where it is beneficial to have a hat and balaclava all in one. It is soft on my face and comfortable while staying in place.

Fits my giant head.
I work in a job where I travel pretty extensively and at least 50% of my time is spent outdoors. Over the past several years, I've purchased Under Armour beanies for the winter months, and they've done a serviceable job. I have a large head (I wear 7 3/4" fitted baseball caps), and while the quality of the UA beanies is top-notch, the fit isn't always there, as their size designation should really be "One Size Fits Most", and I struggle to get the hat down even halfway over my ears. No such worries with this Carhartt hat, as the fit is perfect, it doesn't ride up on my head at all (usually a problem with the Under Armour hats after a washing), and the ear flaps (which can be folded up) ensure that my entire ear stays protected from the cold. My biggest concern was that the facemask, which folds down from the top of the hat, would irritate my head when I wasn't using it. That proved to be unfounded, though, as it folds comfortably into the top of the hat. It took me a couple of seconds to figure out how to get the hat and mask on when I wanted to use the mask for the first time, but that was more just me not taking the time to look at how it was designed (for the record, there is a hole at the base of the back of the hat that you put your head through, pulling the mask down over the front of your face and then securing the hat in position). Overall, I can't recommend this enough, as it has been a lifesaver in these record cold temperatures in northern Wisconsin.

Versatile Piece of Cold Weather Gear
I own a lot of winter hats.Fortunately, I think I have found my permanent beanie / winter hat. I love this thing. Its warm and adapts to what you are doing. If you are not in frigid cold just slap the hat on and flip the ears up. If its really cold and windy, flip the ears down. If its really really cold take the hat off, run the face mask on your face and put hat back on. I like versatility in my gear.I have a fairly large sized head and it fit just fine.I like to wear it over ball caps for a truly completely versatile piece of gear for snow , sleet and rain and eye glass protection.Great buy.

Great Product!
I bought two of them and they both worked out great! They're super comfortable! I got one for myself and for my wife. When it comes to hats I always have to find a size bigger than the XL because of my big head. This fit just perfect without being too tight and somehow it fit my wife small head perfectly to. Very comfortable and very warm. Great material!

Highly recommended!
This is an excellent product! I've used it before. I encourage my employees to use it if working outside! The "tuckable" mask ensures versatility for a wide range of weather conditions! If I had one improvement suggestion, it would be to manufacture different sizes. I have a large head and the hat fits a bit snug, especially when I sometimes don't have the time to go get my hair cut for some time. I would use the mask more often if it was a bit larger/less tight around my chin (or neck when pulled down further). One more thing, I am able to fold the ear coverings and back side up easily and comfortably. And they stay that way while I work. Though I'm not entirely sure it was designed that way, it certainly adds to the versatility!

Warm ears!
If you're someone who works outside this is GREAT! I've bought 6 so far, for co-workers and family. If you've every used a snowblower (and i know you have) and had the snow blow right back in your face (be honest it's happened to all of us) the pull down face guard will be worth every penny. I really like it!

i recommend!
good purchase, keeps me warm, fits well, slightly on the tighter side but itโs more so just snug, love that i can push the mask part up and wear it that way or pull it down under my mouth as well. hard hat fits over it, unsure if it will make glasses fog up yet, other than that itโs a good buy and a pretty decent price.
