MISSING SIGNED LYRICS FROM DELUXE VERSION
I preordered this item on 20th November 2019, as soon as I heard it was being released - I ordered the 'Deluxe' version of the box set which included the signed lyrics to 'Search For The Hero'. This version cost £49.99 and sold out on the site within days of me ordering. There were a few changes to the delivery date but I didn't really mind; it was delivered 6th March.Firstly the discs -The CD's are all miniature gatefolds (apart from the remix disc) and are packed with extras. I have to say it looks pretty special. They are all housed in a top-opening slipcase. The 2 DVD discs are packed with all the video's plus live extras. To be fair, it doesn't have 'Bizarre Fruit II' but the single mixes from 'BFII' are included on the bonus disc to 'Bizarre Fruit' so not really complaining about that one. Overall pretty well done. The booklet includes a few photos and a bit of text but it mainly lyrics. I can live with that.HOWEVER... I bought this version on the strength of the 'signed' element. The signed lyric sheet is missing from the box. I contacted Amazon and they duly issued a replacement box set which arrived this morning. I can't fault them in that respect, the replacement arrived within 24 hours. The replacement.... is also missing the lyric sheet. The top of the box has the CAT NO EDSL0041X, whilst the bottom of the box has the CAT NO EDSL0041. I would assume the addition of the lyric sheet makes the bottom box become 'deluxe and therefore 'X'.I would like to stress here that yes, I am aware there are two versions of the box set and I have ordered the correct one. The standard version has a RED sticker on the front and makes no reference to signed lyrics. The 'Deluxe' has a green sticker on the front which details the signed lyrics. The picture Amazon show on this page with the lyrics is THE WRONG BOX. I've attached a picture to show this. Amazon have no solution for me other than to return the two boxes and they will issue me with a refund. This in mind there is no chance of me ever getting the signed version. It was sold on the basis there were only 500 produced which are now long since bought up (notably the e-bay sellers who are currently selling these for £100.00, which are sealed and also probably missing the lyrics without them knowing). Really poor show Amazon. A also have to wait in tomorrow for Hermes to come and get the box sets tomorrow; so readers, I think we all know how that one is going to pan out don't we?Despite that, I think the sound quality is decent, It's a nice compact box set and worth it's £49.99. My only criticisms are that it's far from complete and the booklet could have been a little more detailed and the cases would have benefited from being jewel cases or digipaks with detailed liner notes rather than flimsy cardboard. If you're not bothered about the lyric sheet and the price drops, go for it! If you want complete-ness and want the lyrics, swerve this at all costs...

Good career spanning set... but...
This is a good career spanning box set of M People. I was lucky to get the signed lyric sheet as i pre-ordered when it was first announced. I bought this mostly for the DVD of promo videos, which were never available. However, slightly disappointed as the quality of some of the videos is poor and all videos are cropped, and look like they were ripped from Youtube ;( surely in 2020 the record company can supply better master videos for DVD?? As for cropped videos, they can have 4:3 fill an entire screen as most music video DVDs do! I'm hoping they'll get remastered in HD or 4K in future, but gutted about the DVD. Otherwise, the CDs are great to have all re-mastered.

Disappointing
As I already owned 4 CD's by M People my main interest in this box was the DVD's. Unfortunately after trying two copies of the box set both DVD's have manufacturing faults. The video for "Just For You" stops dead towards the end of the song leaving a frozen picture. During the live G-Mex concert the sound on "Sight For Sore Eyes" stutters for about 15 seconds. There is a drop out on one of the songs on the Academy concert as well. Nice package shame about the DVD's.

Money for old rope, anyone?
M People never had B-Sides, their Albums were always mediocre affairs with almost no highlights out-with the Singles (The 1994 Mercury win being an early exercise in diversity).Similarly, there are zero previously unreleased song compositions here from the vaults. The best (non avant-garde) 12” Club Mix for almost every individual Single from their Discography was always the “M People Master Mix” available on CD Singles (that now go for pennies). The two DVD’s here have been bizarrely formatted in a lower quality resolution known as NTSC - so that they will play on U.S. DVD players (M People never conquered that regional market, go figure).Overall this box set lacks substance and would have been better served, presented as a gatefold “Remix Anthology”.Heather Small refused to have any involvement in this Project. I would suggest you do the same, give this box set a miss and instead redirect your cash toward the forthcoming Donna Summer box set instead.
