Only useful for N to S directions
This is really only useful if you are looking for landmark based directions on a North to south walk. It’s not very useful for someone wanting to head north or looking for recommendations for things to see, places to stop by along the way. It literally is just written out path directions

A great guide for a great trail.
For the past two years I have been using this guide to walk from Chester to Chepstow. It has been an excellent accompaniament to the journey so far with plenty of information, good maps and route descriptions. The pictures too are up to the usual Cicerone standard. The problems with the Coastal Path is that it is under constant review to bring the path closer to the coast wherever possible. so even the official website and OS maps are often not up to date so the walker needs to keep a close eye on signing. We even surprised friends who live close to the route having discovered that it had been moved recently from the main road to the coast south of the Menai Bridge.

Maps aren't that great
Pocket size guide book with good information regards cafés, shops, accommodation locations on each page but maps are not very good. I used National Trails' Offa's Dyke book last month and it's much better as has O. S map excerpts. This book does not have as well defined maps and when you're hiking with 22kg backpack and poles in each hand it's awkward having to read directions. Some of the WCP signs are missing on the trail too.

there's less information to help you interpret and enjoy the journey
Generally helpful but not as interesting or as accurate as, say, the Severn Way in the same series. At some points the directions aren't correct; there's less information to help you interpret and enjoy the journey. The author also seems to go off on one when the Path takes a 2-day detour to Mach and back to cross the Dyfi. He's a bit miffed at this and seems to miss that the 2 days take you through glorious mixed countryside including the Dyfi biosphere which is packed with wildlife such as the Dyfi ospreys. Cheer up, Paddy!

Great guide, could be used for whole route.
Great guide, have been using it to help me on completing the route. I have used this one over another one given to me as it's clearer to follow. Although sometimes only a line or two can be a fair distance to walk. Drawings of route very helpful.

for anyone who loves walking
One of my favorite guide books about Welsh coats line. Very well written, includes all important details of the paths, gives us many local, historical and nature information. Good maps to show how to follow the route but mind: always use original OS maps. I love the index with distances between places. Small pocket size, additional plastic cover which helps to keep book in good shape.
