Amco – Mezzaluna with Silicone Handle – Black

This is my go to cutting tool to cut up those big blocks of cheese that come from the grocery store. These blocks of cheese can't be left in the refrigerator once the wrapping has come off because mold will start growing. So, I use this knife to cut the cheese into thinner slices/blocks that are ready to use portion size, and then put all these smaller pieces in a zip lock bag into the freezer, where they will keep for a super long time. You can't put the big blocks of cheese straight into the freezer because they can't be cut once they are frozen. This knife is the perfect tool for cutting big cheese blocks - the grip on the handle is very stable and allows you to put the whole weight of your palm, arm, and shoulder into slicing through the cheese. There is no cheese that is too tough to cut with this type of knife, as a result, and the sharpness of the blade doesn't really affect the ease of cutting through these blocks of cheese.

I am a hardcore vegetable addict and I spend way too much time at a cutting board with a knife. Daily. I got the idea for this cutter from watching them chop salads at Subway - I couldn't believe how much time it saves. I eat salads by the bale and this is a godsend. I just throw some veggies in a steel bowl and chop them with this. It's a serious blade so the sheath it comes in is a great feature - you don't want to be casually brushing your hand against it in the utensil drawer. I can whip up a bowl of Asian slaw in a fraction of the time it used to take me and it's easier. Cleanup is a breeze - compare that to cleaning up a food processor. I'm a great fancier of all different blades and this has rapidly become one of my favorites. The handle is stable and fits my hand well. I want to try it for cutting meat, I suspect it will be really handy for that. The big advantage of this blade is that you have much better control over it than with a conventional knife. Plus it makes me feel like a pro. I take all my blades to a professional sharpener every three months or so, and keep them sharp at home by myself between times. This blade is just as sharp now as when I got it months ago. You do not want to keep it on the counter if there are kids around. Keep it in the sheath when you're not using it, and keep it clean and lightly oiled.

This handy gadget helped me so much thru my 2 months in a hand/arm cast. So useful. Much easier than trying to do sawing motion with normal knives. Now that I have discovered this tool.. I cannot imagine NOT using it. VERY SHARP.

I bought this to help me cut things after a shoulder replacement. I will never cut an apple any other way! Meat cutting remains a challenge as I recuperate, because I am right handed and can’t put pressure on it because it is my right shoulder. But it works well on tender meat, like pot roast, or skinless chicken. I wish it came with a blade cover - it is very sharp and should not be in a drawer without one. Great value for the price, and I know I’ll put it to even better use when I am healed.

Very good chopper and is really nice to hold when cutting items.

I've been using a 4" wooden handle Alaskan ulu daily for years to chop meat, potatoes, vegetables, etc to feed my puppies and chickens. This Amco Mezzaluna is 6" and has a rubber like comfortable handle. Blade is a lot sharper so less pressure is required. Cuts through pizza like butter (even frozen pizza.) Great price. Just wish it had a base I could sit it in like my ulu. It does come with a little plastic sleeve with a snap. For the money and quality, cannot complain. I am considering purchasing another as a gift. I'll update if anything changes. I do recommend hand washing and drying immediately. This has kept my knife set in perfect condition.

I bought this after hearing a friend rave about it. Now I know why! You can cut things with one hand, no pushing, pulling or yanking. I cannot begin to tell you how much prep time and aggravation this has saved me! I know some think it should only be used for herbs, but this is a quite sharp knife ready to tackle a wide variety of cutting, dicing, mincing tasks with little effort on your part. I LOVE IT and recommend it to all my friends!

After owning this for 10 years, makes the cost $1 a year and the price hasn't changed. I don't know if the product has. What i have used it mostly for the last 4 years is to chop chicken for my small dog. Easier than a food processor and faster than a regular knife. I wrote the review because of people commenting about rust. It cost $10 and it does show rust when put in the dishwasher but a little barkeepers friend and some scrubbing gets it right out.

I love this product!!!! It is sturdy and made well and is about 1/3-1/5 of the price of other products for the same purpose. Fits in my hand nicely and doesn’t slip when cutting harder product, and easily cuts all product!!!! Would definitely buy again!!!!
