Wanted a cup warmer for a while but they’re so big these days and have mixed thoughts fed back on them. So I plumbed for an ember mug.. whoop! It’s better than I had hoped. Yes it won’t last forever but do you really want a scummy cup of coffee or tea after an hour or more stewing? (Also best with dairy free beverages or soups!)In my non heated office now the temperature is dropping it’s the best thing ever. When caught on the phone for a length of time I know my drink or soup is going to be just the way I like it. It’s deceptively cool to the touch, easy to clean and gives you a surprise when near the last few gulps when it’s still piping hot at the end. Will be getting another for home when finances allow. Not the cheapest. But the best. And it’s not hard to keep the bottom dry; for all you qi lovers.

Does What It Says
First off, this is a long term review - had the bought from Amazon mug for 2.5 years at this point.Ok, let's get the bad parts out of the road:1. The app is garbage. It's always been garbage. But, unless you're constantly changing temperature and colours, you won't need it very often anyway. I actually use an app on Android called Ember Supreme, which is a bit of an improvement, and I've got both my mugs linked to that. Honestly, that's the only reason this is a four star review.2. The price. It's expensive. You might think that's a negative. Honestly though, you can get these on sale if you pay attention, for around £100. Which, yes, it's still expensive, but for me at least, it's probably saved me well more than that in coffee not wasted.I've been using Ember mugs - I've got two, so if I let the battery run out on one I've got another one ready to go - for the last four years. I've still got the original one, plus the one I bought from Amazon in 2022, and both still work perfectly. The oldest one now has a little bit of the coating on the bottom inside missing, think I scratched it with something somehow, but it doesn't seem to cause any issues with performance or tasteNever had any of the problems some other people have mentioned with chargers, I'm still on the original ones.I've always handwashed the mug right after using it, and it cleans up perfectly well.I do find that the battery life drops off somewhat as the mug gets older - after 2.5 years I'd say the battery lasts about 60-70 minutes, as opposed to the original 90 minutes. To be expected though. The mug does keep the drink to the temperature you specify (I've checked with temperature probes), although be aware that if the ambient air temperature is cold, then the battery may not last as long since it needs to work harder.I find in winter, if I don't have my heating on, there's maybe a 10% reduction in battery life. But you can always just sit the mug on the charger and it'll keep to the temperature all day long.Be aware though, if you're using this for coffee - and probably tea, I don't drink tea so I don't know - that if you keep the liquid heated with the mug on the pad, you'll eventually stew whatever you've got in the mug. That might not be the right term, but you'll definitely notice a breakdown in taste.I don't drink instant coffee though, so maybe it's not a problem with that.Easy to solve though, just drink your coffee within the 90 minutes battery life and stick the mug back on the pad after that! For me, the Ember mug has been an excellent buy, even at the price. I tend to get absorbed in what I'm doing, and I'll totally forget my coffee. That resulted in so many wasted cups in the past, which rarely ever happens these days. Since COVID I've worked from home too, and often I'll have a coffee sitting not getting any drinking done because I'm busy, but the Ember means I've got time to work and still drink the coffee! That's a win.TL:DR - expensive, poor app. Mug does exactly what it says, if you already waste copious cups of coffee you need it, and if you don't think you need it you might just change your mind after you've used it for a while. If the price puts you off, try to get someone to gift you one!

I would never want to be without it
EDIT:I still love this cup. But, in the year I had it, the coaster was replaced twice because the pins kept getting stuck and didn’t connect to the base of the cup to charge. I was careful not to make the coaster wet and this still happened. After the third time the coaster pins got stuck the whole thing went into the bin. I didn’t want to keep replacing this coaster every few months.I always have a tea on the go and this is awesome. It connects without a problem to the app on my iPhone. I have the temperature set to 55c and my tea is mostly always good.I say “mostly” because if I leave it too long, a skin forms on the top of the tea. This normally takes an hour or so to happen, so is probably not an issue for normal use. I get lost in my work and can forget about my hot cup of tea.I also like to drink herbal teas. I use a tea infuser with ginger and lemon. I’m able to pop the infuser in my cup and leet it steep for 15-20 mins before drinking and it’s a perfect temperature.I can’t speak highly enough about this mug, I absolutely love it.There is one negative and that is the tea stains, but I suppose that’s probably due to not washing my cup between cups of tea through the day. So, I suppose this is the o be expected? The stains do come out with a bit of elbow grease and some dish soap, so not a deal breaker by any means.

Worst app I've ever used. Genuinely.
What an expensive piece of garbage. The worst part about this is the app never connects to the mug. As a programmer myself I don't understand how your developers can be so incompetent, I could code a better connecting app alone. I genuinely have no idea how an app could be released in this state by a company. It almost never pairs, when it does it registers as 'empty' when it's not.As for the mug itself, as I can't control it with the app it often times just sits and burns the milk in my drink leaving a nice burt skin over the top of my drink. Lovely.I understand that this is just general incompetence from your dev team, but it borders on blatant lying to customers about how well this works, it does not work anywhere near as advertised. The paint is also chipping away on the inside after only a few months use.

Perfect cup of coffee 24/7
I absolutely love this mug! I also bought the new Sliding lid from their website .It will improve the battery life and you can bring your coffee from home.
