I get that nails on chalkboard feeling from touching frosted glass. Will this file be a problem for me?

I get that feeling from all nail files, I just had to get used to it. If frosted or etched glass specifically is a problem, you might want to stay away, because this file is exactly that.

What is the grit on the two surfaces of the nail file?

The grit seems approximately the same on both surfaces of the nail file. I use the file on natural nails; and, it's a comfortable grit that is both effective and does not shred natural nails or cut into the surrounding skin.

Does it matter whether you use a buffing cream with this?

This is not a nail buffer, so you wouldn't use a buffing cream with it. This is a glass FILE, it's to be used only on the free edge of the nail, to shape the nail. It's not to be used on the surface of the nail as a buffer, and would not work well for that purpose.
