Really excellent album. Her voice sounds to me remarkably like the incomparable (even though I'm comparing) Amalia Rodriguez. The accompaniments are fine- mostly pretty traditional, emphasizing the Portuguese guitar, a pretty unique sound that I'm very fond of. This vocal style might take some getting used to for some, but it's very worth it.

Carminho is a great singer. This is a new adventure for me with Fado from Portugal. Her voice is so great that it matters little that I don't understand the language! I think anyone would appreciate her voice and this type of music.

The natural comparison for Carminho would be with Mariza. Both of these singers have beautiful voices. Mariza is more dramatic with songs like Chuva (live version) which is so intense that it is impossible to sustain that level of performance for an entire album. Alma has a consistent quality to it. The instruments sound even better than Mariza's music. The production (fidelity) reminds me of T-bone Burnett. There is a clarity to the sound of each instrument that rewards repeated listening. The instruments include guitar, violin, cello, piano, and percussion.-----------In general terms, this is not rock 'n roll or jazz. It has a traditional European music feel to it. It may be wine and cheese music, but it's not pretentious. Rather, it is really soothing and good for resting and digesting. It's not flat New Age background music. There is life to it. This traditional music is refreshingly original. It's not made and marketed for some niche group for commercial success. I think this album will treat your ears to a wider and more inclusive world of music.

A nice album. Carminho is a very accomplished Fado singer.

Carminho is an artist that I would put in the same category as Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, Lara Fabian, incredible voices that can be heard without any instrument. Carminho's voice definitely touches the soul. This is only the second CD, I can't wait to hear what the future brings, it can only get better, but I don't think she needs to try, she can capture an audience with her voice as I recently heard her live in Canada, the silence that came upon the room when she sang was something that I had never experienced before. I left the show thinking that this may be what it will sound like in heaven. This CD is full of music that will take you on a trip, even if you don't understand the language, you will feel the emotions. Thank you Carminho, give us more.

We saw Carminho in cocert at St Michaels Cave in Gibraltar, she is just amazing and we play the CD most days.

Estou muito contente com a musica e o vendedor.Bin von CD ebenso begeistert wie von Carminhos Konzert selbst. Bei der Zugabe fiel auf einmal ihr Mikro aus, während die anderen Mikrofone noch liefen- beherrscht hat sie die gesamte Halle trotzdem. Unglaublich starke Stimme in einem so zarten Körper.Mit dem Käufer bin ich zufrieden. Die CD kam in gutem Zustand und innerhalb der angekündigten Zeit hier an.
