We use a zinc based antimicrobial agent in the sponges. No soap embedded in the sponge.

Amazon says it won’t ship these sponges to my location, CA. Does anyone know why?

There may be something in the sponge that the State does not allow to be mailed. I've had that before with vinyl flooring.
