It looks quite purple in the photo, yet one review refers to it as pink. Also, there seems to be a lot of layering with other colors. Is it too sheer?

Blissful Berry is definitely a berry color. As it wears off, it does seem to appear as a pinky color. I find it stains my lips to a nice pink shade after a few applications... which I don't mind because then I can just apply lip balm if I want to. Also, if you aplly just a light layer or apply over a balm, I find the color to be slighty sheer. I just tried it without a balm... two light sweeps over each lip and the color was vibrant and opaque.

I cannot smell nor taste this lip color. I got the the Petal Rebel and love it. My daughters loved it as well, so I got this in the same color for them. It's not a heavy lipstick, nor a sheer gloss. It's more of a smooth light satin. I give it 5 stars.
