Question 1

What is the diameter of the pot skirt? Also does anyone have any suggestions for pot or kettle to use in conjunction with the skirt.

Accepted Answer

The pot skirt is adjustable from approximately 7 inches to 12 inches in diameter. It has (5) evenly spaced 3/8 inch tabs on the inside of the ring that I assume are meant to increase the surface area of contact and make it more secure. I wasn't sure how to use the pot skirt until you raised the question. According to the EcoZoom website you attatch the pot skirt directly to the pot/pan you are cooking with. I thought it was a wind gaurd and supposed to wrap around the rocket stove itself. I learned something new today. Thanks

Question 2

How do you clean the inside?

Accepted Answer

Hi Bryan,Thank you for your question. The internal combustion chamber (or liner) itself stays pretty clean from the hot flame. The stove is designed for good combustion so there is not typically a lot of ash build up. This will vary depending on the wood used and if there is any bark, etc. Once finished cooking on the stove I typically just pick the stove up by the handles and dump the ash out of the door at the front of the stove. Sometimes a little tapping on the back of the stove is helpful too. Hope that is helpful. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Question 3

Could you use this to grill a steak? If so would it leave grill marks on the steak? Would there be soot on the steak?

Accepted Answer

By itself, no not so much. However, I purchased this and have grills some amazing kebobs, steaks, chops, and chicken quarters.

Use quality wood if you are going to cook directly over the fire. Cheers, hope this helps.

Question 4

I don't see a pot skirt picture or price. Can anyone help me there? Thanks.
