Perfect addition to the kitchen
Actually a superb braising pot. I've had it for a while and never made a subpar meal with it. The bottom part is enameled iron, which I thought might require some care to maintain but it's very durable. I tend to leave a thin layer of oil on just in case, but I don't think it's necessary. It feels like stoneware to the touch and cooks in a similar fashion, but it can still achieve very high temperatures and sear meat as well as any dutch oven. As far as scratching I never use metal utensils so I can't comment on whether it's prone to scuffing or not. But it's easy to clean, it comes with a plastic utensil for lifting stuck food, and I usually can clean it using only a cloth or sponge. As far as convenience, this is really a one-pot solution. You can throw ingredients in, braise, and put on the table. The types of dishes this is designed for speak to a perfect and thorough braising rate, which I can attest to. I've never needed to cook beef longer than two hours at medium temperatures - the roast pictured was made today, and it was roasting at 325F for under two hours after achieving boiling point on the stovetop. Moisture in the pot escapes at a slow rate, so the contents are constantly refreshing with liquid while losing it and also roasting thanks to the heavy iron bottom and ceramic top. The iron bottom makes it ideal for transferring from the stovetop to the oven, or just cooking strictly on the stove, without the need for a diffuser. So in short, I would recommend this both to someone who wants an easy solution to dinner and to someone looking for interesting recipes. This is a perfect vessel for stews, soups, or just classic roasts. I've done baked pasta, mac & cheese, goulash, moqueca, beef navarin (pictured), Irish coddle, carnitas and Greek lemon chicken in this pot - all with great results. My only caveat would be that it roasts through faster than you think. Meat is cooked perfectly in about an hour no matter what you're doing - so honestly it probably works faster and more precisely than a fully clay tagine, which works at lower temperatures over longer periods. If there was ever a single pot solution to dinner, it would be this tagine.

Gorgeous and perfect for melt in your mouth foods
This is a stunning Tagine that makes amazing, super tender meats and veggies. I've thus far only used it in my oven but I'm sure it will be great on my gas cooktop too. If you want melt in your mouth veggies and meats this is a winner and so pretty to boot!

Incredible!!! Really a great addition to a kitchen!
Incredible addition to the kitchen!!! I wanted a more traditional clay version but during the "learning to use" process I wasn't too interested in worrying about all of the work involved in keeping a clay version from cracking (seasoning and careful temperature control). I still want a clay pot but this one has been fun to learn and has worked incredibly well!!!! Temperature control is easy both on the stove top and in the oven. Food turns out delicious with infused flavors and moist! HIGHLY RECOMMEND even though not "traditional" in the strict sense of the word.

Awesome and Versatile!
This tagine is the miracle cookware that you didn't know that you NEED! It has FAR exceeded my expectations, and I'm so happy that I took a chance on it because it is so versatile and easy to use/clean. It is also better quality (and larger) than fancy-brand versions that go for 4 times the price! Although tempted, I had resisted buying a clay tagine in the past because it seemed a little too niche, but the cast-iron bottom of this version is an absolute game-changer! It is even enameled cast-iron, so there is no continuous maintenance required with oiling, etc.; the instructions make it clear that it's ready to go after a single wash, right out of the box. The fact that I can plop this tagine right on my stovetop is, honestly, more awesome than words can describe -- that might sound dorky, but cooks who appreciate ease and practicality will adore it. Having the option to use it in the oven for slow-roasting is great, but quickly cooking up meals without lugging it out of the oven to check on progress makes this tagine something that can truly be used to cook just about anything on even given day. Meats cook rapidly but stay so very moist and delicious, and there's no limit to what can be added. The size is bigger, and importantly, deeper than expected. You can truly cook a whole roast or chicken with additional ingredients (plus room for liquid) for a whole family without it being a tight squeeze. The well-designed features ensure that it doesn't leak steam/water during cooking, and the lip around the bottom makes it easy to pick up and move around. It's heavy, quality-made, and definitely my new favorite kitchen gadget. LOVE IT! Fervently recommend it for making tagines or any meal whatsoever!

Excellent quality
This is a very nice/high quality cooking vessel at a reasonable price. Unfortunately the base is not enameled so using it on my glass cooktop is a non starter. If/when I convert to a gas cooktop I will definitely reorder this tagine.

Fun and easy to use - food is amazing!
This tagine has met and exceeded my expectations. We've used it at least 5-6 times now and (a) it's holding up great (as it should) and (b) makes the most mouthwatering deliciously tender meals. Comes with a few recipes, some instructions, and between that and what we've read online we're feeling really comfortable using it both on the stovetop and in the oven. My favorite so far is that I can prep it when I have time (and when I'm home) and then put it in the oven on 200-250 for a couple hours while I'm out yet and come home to a perfectly delicious meal that has cooked slowly as intended, safely, and I can put it right on the table. Such a gift to be able to cook when I have time and serve when we're ready esp. when those don't line up!

Beautiful and practical
This pretty much stays on my kitchen bench when it isn't actually in use just because it is so pretty. I've used this on the cooktop and in the oven. I love it.

Works well on Induction stove
I bought the Kook Tagine because of its cast iron base and I have an induction stove. I was pretty chuffed to see the tagine work as promised, ie, the steam really does condense at the top of the conical cover and then flow down the sides of the cover back into the Tagine IF: (1) you don't put in too much water (I put in 200ml of stock in the recipe). (2) you turn the heat to low. My induction stove has 1 - 9 (low to high). I put it at 3. Thereafter the lamb shank cooked for 3 hours without my having to top up the liquids. I also browned the lamb shanks and caramelised the onions in the cast iron tagine - in other words I did all the frying and browning and stewing in the tagine. It worked fine.
