bad purchase UPDATE good vendor fixed my problem thank you
This item arrived in time n seemed enough quality for the price. It was almost impossible to install.. It kept falling apart while installing. we didnt give up. used tapes n adhesives to hold in place. once installed. it was pretty. then next day rain n water seep in joints n next thing was fungus, dirt. However I stopped looking at it as it used to hurt me see what a wastage. after 3 weeks it was windy, n middle panel flew away. yes we used lot of adhesive, all the hardware etc. N now i m sitting here trying to find the replacement for the flew away part. since we drilled our brand new house n thought its pretty n useful.. seriously stay away. This is an update. These people heard me. They improved their design. Sent me free replacement. Guided me all through the way. Installing was again tough with 2/3 people. Bt once its up. Its there. Heavy rains n its fine for now. How ever the angles this time were smaller n we ended up drilling more holes in the building. Bt its good going now. Thank u!

Well-Designed Product and Looks Great
I have no idea how long this will last but it is a very nice product in terms of design and style. The attachment expansion bolts are a little flaky, so you might consider lag bolts or machine bolts/nuts depending on the installation requirements. As with most imported products the instructions are atrocious, but I have grown accustomed to this. If you have some mechanical skills it won't be hard to figure out. It is mostly plastic, very light, and quite sturdy once installed. Because of the slick surface and steep pitch, it may work fine with light snow because I think the snow will just slide off--we'll see. Ice may be a different situation, but I'll know by spring. It looks good and serves a useful purpose for rain. Packaging could have easily gotten damaged in shipment, but it didn't. Amazon Prime got it here in 2 days as promised. The price is very fair.

know ahead of time what to do to be successful to install this
OK its inexpensive and it is nice... but you will read it is a challenge to install. Here are a few tips. At first I had difficulties (as you read other reviews you may notice the same) I ordered 2 kits... only one was shipped at first... Quick communication with seller they fixed the problem and shipped the missing unit. I subsequently ordered 2 more since they were a good company to deal with. The first kit was horrible to install at first... See picture #4 not all pieces were cut at the same length, I had to get a pair of tin snips to fix the problem... So Set it up first on the ground to make sure everything fits. Install only one section at a time... You would be best advised to use two people.. this is not easy for one person (although by the end of set #3 I am able to do it by myself. But only out of necessity and not by choice or easily.) Mounting hardware.. at first I used the supplied units drilled holes.. my ignorance on how these things bolts worked were an issue. Drill the holes and tighten allowing them to expand. yes it is possible (But not easy) to remove after as well. I instead used cement plugs and larger bolts available to me since I live in a hurricane zone and I like to mount things very durable. Saying this... my brackets may now survive a hurricane, but I doubt the panels would. I doubt any panels would of course. I would not buy more expensive units than these as they do the job, & they look nice. I note that made from plastic and in the sun they will yellow and fade in color but I can see no options other than expensive heavy metal ones (that you would likely need to often paint as well) and honestly once they are installed you don't want to be taking them down every year to paint anyways.

Looks great but lets in water when it rains and panels fly out when it is windy
So far this is great, was easy to assemble and install. UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW A few months later and I still like this awning - but there is a fault in the construction that allows water to enter when it rains. If there was a seal of some kind this could not happen. ruins an otherwise great awning. SECOND UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW WE had strong winds here (I live in NJ so nothing too crazy) and the panels in the awning are now gone i found a couple in my neighbors yard but this is ridiculous. I had ordered a second awning (exact same product) a few months ago so that when we had chance to could replace the ones with water damage. I was frustrated to find that even though i ordered the EXACT same product the size is different by a few inches so to use the new panels i would need to add new holes to the side of the house or i will need to cut them. So done with this awning.

Great product - Easy to build/install.
We bought this to put up over our front door that exits our great room. It was extremely easy to put together and with two people, fairly easy to install. I've never used bolts like this before. The top three went in w/o a problem but the three bottom ones never got tighter. I wish I had used other bolts instead. I chose to supplement the three bottom ones with long wood screws going into the exterior wood under the siding. Once awning was in place I ran a bead of silicone sealer along the top back edge where the awning rests against the house. Even though the clear acrylic sheets slide into the grooves of the supports, self-tapping screws are provided to ensure they don't pop out. I feel confident that this awning will work well to keep rain off the area. We'll see how well it works! Glad we purchased this unit, for the price it's hard to beat. PS - August 6: Today, the day after we installed the awning, we had a solid rain storm. Even though the deck got somewhat wet under the awning, the door itself and wall near door, remained dry. That's what we were hoping for :D

The hardware that came with it was flimsy and wouldn't hold. I had to go out and buy ($28) worth of lag bolts and washers to properly secure this to my house. Also, the instructions are very lacking. It's a two person job, with lots of patience.

Looks nice. Put together fairly easy...Only problem is it was advertised as white...the box said white...The frame is grey. Looks a little weird on the house as there is no grey.

Took my son 4 hours to put up and still couldn't get the final plastic shield in the right place. Well it didn't last past the first snow fall. The weight of the snow on it caused it to split, not break, the seam split. It's not something you can take down in the winter. My husband curses at it overtime he looks at it. It came apart and fell off soon after this review. Never again.
