Zebco 33 Micro Spincast Fishing Reel, Size 10 Reel

Amazing casting compared to our other reels. Easy to use. No problems yet. Be aware that it's only 4# line, so it's great for kids catching small fish but you won't land a musky with this one!

I have bought 4 Zebco spincast reels over the last decade and have had no issues with any of them (as you might expect). What is true though, is the Platinum is no toy reel. It is more metal than plastic, has weight to it, and its profile is larger than the other Zebcos I have purchased. Perhaps the only thing I would warn against, is if you are buying this for a 3 year old, or smaller stature 4 year old, the reel weight may be a bit more than you want them to manage. That said, the reel quality appears high enough that I expect my 4 year old could use the reel into his teens if he wanted to, but I doubt I'll let that happen. He better be skipping frogs under docks with a nice baitcasting setup by then if he wants to hang with his brothers and I.

You definitely get what you pay for and this reel feels very cheap, but cheap was the whole point of me buying it so I can't complain. I've never tried this style of reel before and I think this is a pretty good one to try without spending a lot of money on something I may or may not have liked. Casting is very smooth and the action of the trigger has been very responsive in my experience.

I've used Zebcos for over 60 years & so has my hubby. When planning for our big retirement vacation & first fishing trip in 25 years, we decided to buy new Zebco 33s instead of repairing our old beloved sets of rods & reels. These came really fast, the price was great & they will be the perfect addition to our fishing trip. They are much lighter than our old reels from the 70s, but the construction is excellent. Best of all, it's Zebco, of course they will work easily and perfectly from the moment we mount them on our rods. I can't wait to try the upgrades we bought too, the Gold and Platinum versions were on sale just like the regular reels. This great sale gave us new reels for the whole family!

This is my second Zebco 33 Micro Triggerspin Reel. I have the Micro Gold Triggerspin for smaller stream fishing. I bought this on for my son in laws father. I love this reel for the ease of handling, it can be changed from left to right reeling. It’s a very smooth casting reel. Strong material and nice speed.

Taken from an email I sent Zebco... I bought this reel last month (May 7th, 2024) on Amazon BECAUSE it was a "Platinum" and it's officially the worst and most disappointing Zebco product I've ever owned in over 40 years as a Zebco Customer. I THOUGHT that, since you named it "Platinum", it would exceed the 33 in build quality and function but I was very wrong. It seems to just be a regular 33 with a bigger gear ratio (not properly done apparently) AND a silver mundane quality paint job. I have an Omega that I love and thought this would be somewhere between the standard 33 and my Omega and it's worse than an old rusty 33 from the 70s I had when I was a kid. I've lost TWO EXPENSIVE LURES because of the sudden stopping on casting issue it has. The first lure was a SPRO Creeper that cost me a total of $24 with shipping and a River to Sea Large Phantom Shad Whopper Plopper that also cost $24 when I got it. So the reel has officially cost me more in lures than it cost me to buy. AND, this all but ruined my Father's Day fishing trip that my wife planned for me. All of this is unacceptable...full stop. Upon further research this evening, I've discovered SEVERAL Amazon reviews mentioning this issue specifically and it would appear that you need to resolve this. There is no good reason for it, only excuses. Research and development should have caught it and it feels like a rushed product anyway. Also, since this IS a new product with an as-of-yet unresolved design flaw, I do not want a replacement as it will likely have the same issues. I'd like to be refunded the cost of the reel, as well as the lures lost AS A DIRECT RESULT of that design flaw. The reel cost me just under $30 after tax and with the two lures at $24 each, that's a total of $78 that I need from Zebco. ****UPDATE**** I contacted ZEBCO since I was beyond my Amazon return period. After THREE DAYS, they replied to my email just to refuse my request for a refund and reimbursement of my reel and lures. HOWEVER, they ARE replacing my defective reel with another. They gave me A CHOICE of another Platinum or a Delta. I decided on the Delta size 30 and they are shipping it to me now. So, not the outcome I hoped for BUT, it's more than I thought I'd get. I'm raising my review up from 1 star to two because ZEBCO stepped up a bit but, this reel is still not one I can recommend.

Great all around spincast for freshwater pond & lake fishing. This has a 10 lb test line & I once landed a 10 lb 8 Oz largemouth bass on a zebco years ago and an 8 pounders recently with no line pop.

Good dependable reel. Virtually kid proof. Added three ball bearings out of the box so not sure how smooth it would have been but easy cranking now.

Bought for my 11 year old grandson to stop his constant tangles a taffles from an open spool reel. He loves it!
