It doesnt take but a little bitty bit to put on your doggie paws. If you USE 2 MUCH, they WILL SLIP!! Apply a very tiny small amount 1-2 times a week. I have 2 doggies, this has HELPED SO MUCH!! My lab had the worst cracked paws, and yes they did slip until I REALIZED I USED 2 MUCH.....until I corrected it. I USE THIS ON MY SKIN.....WORKS WONDERS!!

Is it good for the chemical salt they put down in the city?

Yes - Musher’s Secret paw wax creates a barrier that protects your dog’s paws not only during the hot summer but also throughout different seasons and locations. Our wax works like an invisible boot to protect your pup’s paws, while also strengthening and moisturizing their pads and preventing paws from drying and cracking. Musher's is so powerful that it creates a seamless barrier that helps protects your dog’s pads against hot pavement, sand, salt, snow, and ice.

What are the ingredients in this product? The full ingredients, not just 100% natural.

I don't know. It just says "Made with 100% Natural Waxes. Non Toxic, Non Staining, Safe and Easy to use. For external use only". It is from the company Preservo Products Inc. 1485 St. Elzear Ouest, Suite 301, Laval, Quebec, Canada H7L3N6

My golden retriever has chapped pads. I thought this migh help when we are playing fetch and he is running on the pavement or sidewalk. suggestions?

Yes, while Musher's Secret Paw Wax is mostly used for protection, we've had customers who used the product on their pets whose paws were already dry or sore and it worked.
