Cool lighter, inconsistent function
This lighter is extremely cool and sturdy. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to light sometimes. When it works it's awesome, but it's very hit or miss.

Reliable with some care
I use this lighter for pipe smoking and it works great as long as you take care of it and spend some time learning a little about how it works. When I first received it, I filled it and immediately started pulling the match piece out repeatedly trying to get it to light. That was mistake number one. The wick needs time to absorb the lighter fuel before it will reliably light. A little critical thought would have saved me some frustration there. You also need to keep the wick trimmed. After some use the end will become frayed and caked with carbon, so it will be resistant to lighting. Just pulling the wick out a bit and trimming the black part solves this. So, because of these two mistakes, after only a month or so of use it suddenly stopped producing a spark. I took it apart and examined everything and it looked OK. There was still visible flint left, but adjusting and tweaking did no good. As a last resort, I replaced the flint with one of several spares that comes with the lighter and just like that, the lighter jumped to life on the first strike. So, I now understand that the flint wears down somewhat quickly with repeated use. It may look like it's still good, but when it quits sparking that means it's done. Constantly pulling the match to check if it's filled, impress your friends, or whatever needlessly shortens your flint's life. All that said, I love this little lighter. My problems were related to user error and not any issue with product quality. It looks cool and works great, just take some time to familiarize yourself with it and read the instructions that come with it. It will serve you well.

Uses a lot of lighter fuel.
The lighter itself looks very cool. Maybe if you just like to collect unusual lighters this would be a good idea.However. For practical usage it's clumsy when holding your pipe. And you always need two hands to operate it. So when you are lighting your pipe you have to be sure that you have somewhere level and safe to set the main body down on while you use the match to light your pipe. And this gets very frustrating whenever you have even a modest breeze. You end up having to set your pipe back down so that you can pick back up the main body so that you can strike the match again and then you have to set the main body back down and just hope that the match stays lit long enough for you to light your pipe.I smoke my pipe to relax and slow things down in my life giving me a mini vacation from the world. But having to fumble with this, although cool looking, lighter. It's hassles and having to have both hands free and possibly having to fumble with this lighter several times just to get a decent burn on your tobacco can completely stress you out and ruin any peaceful benefits that you may normally enjoy smoking your pipe. And then there's the fuel issue that I'm having. I've had this lighter less than three days and I only smoke my pipe maybe two or three times a day. Depending on how many mini vacations I feel I need to cope with life's BS. And I've so far had to fill this thing four times already. There is no way that I've gone through that much fuel. I've checked it over and over again for any signs of leaks and have found none. All I can figure is that The fuel is evaporating somehow. But I've checked everything and I couldn't tell you how it would. But I didn't buy this product to help it's designers to fix it. So unfortunately I'm going to be sending mine back for a refund.I'm going back to my reliable, single handed usable and fuel efficient Zippo pipe lighter.

Useless.
I bought this lighter with great expectations, Worked well for exactly 4 lights,On the 5th try the wick came out of its housing, The instructions were no help. You must "somehow" reinsert the wick in the tiny hole where it was originally housed.I trimmed the end and attempted to reinsert (while gently twisting - as instructed).I found the task impossible. I Paid $30 for the lighter which means it cost me $ 7.50 per light.I should have bought a case of matches instead.Typical Chinese junk.

Work if you know how it works
A lot of reviews mentioning common zippo style common things. "Not malfunctions." I bought mine here over a year ago for REGULAR USE and it works great. If you OVER fill it it'll leak from the bottom as expected with any fluid lighter. Flint spring tension and correct size are needed for it to work properl just like Zippo or trench style lighters. It's not a Bic it required you to adjust things after initial breaking in of the lighter. I love this Match trench lighter.

Lights when it wants to.
Great idea, great design and look. I'm sorry to say, that's about it. It lights when it wants to. Zippo wicks don't work for this lighter. It's not consistent and must be refilled quite often. When the tip of the wick is black, it just gets harder to light even after refilling it. Then you have to keep pulling out more and more of the wick just to get it to light because it burns too quick. It pretty much is a dipping match. Once it lights, the small flame burns out quick. I really wanted to like this lighter, but I'll stick to my rechargeable plasma lighter.
