TRUArt Stage 2 Dual Pen Professional Woodburning Detailer 60W Tool with Digital Temperature Control, 40 Tips and Case

I previously ordered a wood burning tool from Amazon that could also be used as a soldering iron. I reviewed that one but ultimately returned it because I felt like even 33$ was too much. All the things I found wrong with that one were all the things that were done right with this one. Yes, I know it's way more expensive, but it's like comparing a canoe to a yacht. First, the previous one I ordered came with a small pamphlet-style instruction book (read: no instructions at all save for the obligatory "Caution: this will burn you" crap. Duh. THIS ONE!? An actual, honest-to-goodness booklet!! Multiple pages with step-by-step information, pics showing which tip works best for which project, pointers to get the best result and even multiple pages of art you can copy and use for your own projects. Second, the grip to the tip distance is much closer so it's so easy to use this as pen and feel as though you have complete control. Third, this comes with two, TWO pens! Love that! Now you can use one with one tip and have the other one ready with a different tip when you're ready. These heat up and cool down very quickly, and it's very quick and easy to change out the tips. The tips: there are many, and some of the most common/popular are duplicate, which is good in the event you have an issue with one then you have a backup. All of this came packaged very neatly and organized in a great zip-up case. If you're even remotely serious about getting in to pyrography and can afford it (Christmas present??) this is definitely a winner.

I LOVE this tool! I have been using the single pen burners and had trouble with the end loosening while working, too much time to wait for cooling to change tips and my hand being too far from the work. This pen has solved all of those problems! It is so easy to use. My hand is closer to the work which makes it more like drawing. The tips heat and cool so quickly with the temperature control knob which allow versatility during creating. It is packaged in a beautiful carry case and provided all the tools needed and so many different tips. The instruction book is very easy to understand and covers everything you need to get started on your project. This product was so worth the money!

This product is amazing. I decided I wanted to get into wood burning as I had an old wood burning tool. I remembered that it used to get really hot on the hand while working with it. So, I went to WalMart and bought a cheap one. After reading about the art of Pyrography, I learned that a good tool can make all the difference. So, I went on Amazon and started shopping. I liked what I read about this one, so I made the purchase. I'm glad I did. This tool made a BIG difference. I don't consider myself to be very artistic, but with the heat control and the wire nibs, with a little practice I was very impressed with what I could do. I still need more practice, but I love the outcome of my projects. My husband has tried his hand at it too and I must say, I'm really impressed with what he has been able to accomplish. If you're really serious about wood burning, I would highly recommend this product. It comes with all the bells and whistles. Oh, and it doesn't get hot in your hand while using it either.

Worth the money. Heat is consistent...solid, good quality tool. It's the fourth one I've purchased and returned three...none of them were consistent with the heat until this one. It's a keeper!

Update: the seller contacted me (soon after I posted my original review) and told me how to resolve my issue. The manual mentions screws to adjust the temperature control if your device can’t reach the top temperature. Turns out it also helps if your temp changes too sensitively or not sensitively enough. I wish the user manual had been a little clearer, but I’m very grateful the seller replied to my review. Original review: I have only one problem with this product—my temperature control gauge. I say “my” because I don’t think the product is meant to be this way. When I turn the knob to adjust the temperature, from the far left to nearly straight up and down (so half the range) it only shows 5 V (and there is no difference in the temperature). Then once I get past half way, it goes up very quickly and it is hard to pinpoint the temp I want. I contacted the sellers through email about this and NEVER got a response. For the price I paid, I expected better customer service. There are other similar (and I even found one identical) options for cheaper on Amazon. Everything else about the product is really great. There are lots of tips to try and the pens are pretty comfy to hold. If I can get it to land on the temperature I want then it is smooth sailing. And mine still gets up to the maximum voltage. Having some temperature control is better than no temperature control if you are looking to improve your skills. When I was looking for a better wood burner, I looked for two things: wire tips that inserted in two inputs (which this product has) and temperature control (which this product also has—and it has 5 pins where you plug in the pen which means it can get hotter than if there were only two pins).

I tried one other wire tip wood burner and was unhappy with cheapness of it and the lack of control. This unit from TRUArt worked great right out of the box and has kept doing so through MANY projects I've done. As a bonus there is a great carrying case and tool kit provided - the case has come in handy as I take it with and do some demonstrations at shows. The variety of tips provided in kit is great also and they are easy to change. Having 2 pens makes things really slick, when needing a different tip you can move to 2nd burner pen or replace the tip in the cool one right away. Voltage adjustments are working well and I've gotten to know where I need to be for what I want. I've even done some wood burning on sketch paper and that is a challenge for any burner!

I'm an old retired guy who is truly an amateur jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none type craftsman. For years I've been using a pen with a core heating element, screw-in brass tips and a continuously variable temperature control. This year, with time on my hands becaurse of the pandemic, I decided to upgrade to your product and give it a try - and I'm so glad I did! Anyway, I unpacked it and (Gasp!!) read the instruction manual before plugging anything in. Then I set it up and used the fine adjustment pot to set the upper and lower voltage limits - got out some sample wood and started in on learning the basic behavior of this type of pen. I was amazed at how much time is saved by the quick response of the nibs, and not have to spend impatient minutes waiting for heating and cooling before being able to judge the results of an adjustment to the selected heat! In my first actual project I easily saved 50% or more of the total time to complete it compared to a screw-in brass tip. I love it! I also found out that it's definitely worth keeping my old pen, however, as I have some "stamps" with it that I will contue to occasionally use.. Together, these two different systems are a terrific combination!!!
