Great product! After five years of heavy use the flaps (wings) started only opening part way. I bought AC adapter and it fixed issue. I’ll let you know how it’s doing in another five years.

Great product over all. I had a Glad can but it went through so many batteries and dented super easy. The dog figured out how to open it and help himself to the contents. The Glad can simply didn’t survive my household. Butmost importantly It was a pain to constantly buy and replace batteries. So I decided to upgrade to this plug in can that can take batteries if I want to go that route as well. Best decision ever went it comes to the trash. It’s motion detection is super responsive and fast both on opening and closing. I was worried when I first look at it because the little split lid looking so thin and I was afraid it would be weak and break. Full disclaimer, I have 6 boys and all but one are teens, they break stuff. Like we can’t have anything nice, they break it! That said this thing has past the test and is still alive. Those little lids are strong enough to survive my clan so they are definitely not weak. The only issue I have had and it’s not much of an issue is the trash bags are very tight to put on the can. The ring it came with to hold the bag, one of my children threw it way apparently they thought it was trash but I’m still confused how when it quite obviously was holding the bag. However the good news is you don’t need it and it was flimsy and a pain to put the bag on anyway. I ring just made it so you didn’t have to see the bag on the outside of the can. Which for me everyone already knows it’s a trash can so seeing the edge of the bag isn’t a big deal. The dog can still open the can however it has a lock that he can’t open so when I go to bed or leave my house I just lock it and he can’t do anything. When I’m home I can hear him open the can so I can tell him to leave it and he does. Over all I have been very happy with this purchase.

I was initially excited about the sleek design and functionality of the iTouchless 18 Gallon Wings Open Trash Can, but unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of disappointing. The biggest issue I’ve encountered is that this trash can rusts incredibly easily. After just a few months of use, I noticed rust forming around the lid and base, which is completely unacceptable for a product at this price point. Despite following the care instructions and keeping it dry, the rust continued to spread, making the trash can look old and worn out far sooner than expected. Additionally, the wings-open mechanism, while innovative, started to malfunction after a short period of use. The wings would occasionally get stuck or not open fully, making it frustrating to use daily. I had high hopes for this trash can, but the poor build quality and rusting issue have led me to regret my purchase. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Save your money and invest in a more durable trash can that will last longer and maintain its appearance over time. Very disappointed.

This is our third iTouchless since 2014. The previous two 13 gallon models were good for 4-5 years before the motor failed. Bought this one in 2023 and it may be wearing down after 3 years. Reason for the four stars. We removed the odor absorbing attachment as it tends to get dirty early and easy. Nice having 18 gallons but had some issues finding strong trash bags. Wing lid is much better than single large lid in my opinion. May make battery last longer which I can attest these last a very long time. I absolutely love this can! So much so that I bought a second for our recyclables. It works flawlessly, is large enough to hold a larger bag, the design of the top holds the bag in place very well preventing the bag from falling down inside the can -- which has always been an issue. My 100lb Rott is not longer interested in trying to nose through the trash; the lid closes tight so there really is no way for her to open it, plus there is a mechanical lockout that prevents the lid from opening -which we have never needed, plus the can is taller so it puts the lid a few inches above her nose. The only way she could open it is to knock the whole thing over and then I'm still not sure she could get the top off. All around great can!!

this is the 2nd one that I have bought. It fits perfectly under my counter with the top open too. Looks nice and work very good.

I bought this because it seemed like an excellent value in comparison to more well-known brands charging double or more for a touchless trash can. Can’t say I hate it but it’s apparent that a few shortcuts were taken in its design and build quality, some relatively minor but that feel disingenuous or at least “sneaky” in nature to make the product seem more appealing at time of purchase. For one thing, where other brands use a full inner plastic bin (to protect the stainless steel exterior bin from dents from objects tossed into the trash can and also make cleaning easier), this trash can uses a basic flimsy plastic “ring” to hold the bag in place, which in my opinion makes it very awkward to remove the bag and also has the side effect of visibly exposing the edge of the plastic bag on the outside of the trash can (yes, I have it installed correctly). Not the end of the world but makes it look cheap to me. There is also a prominently-placed and tacky-looking “iTouchless” sticker on the top of the lid, which is not shown in the product photos and does not appear removable without causing damage to the lid as it’s affixed with very strong adhesive (the lid is also made of plastic, not stainless steel—this is, however, disclosed in the listing). The unit also arrived with a 3-inch scratch on it straight out of the factory packaging which also makes me suspect general quality control issues. I reached out to the seller twice on their preferred contact method (as it was not a fulfillment issue) with no response. The “open” and “close” buttons are starting to bubble, which is unsightly and makes them hard to tell which is which. This was one of those products that the hassle of returning outweighed the negatives of keeping it, so I kept it. I’d say you pay for what you get, but I expected better for the price.

I bought this a while ago (more than a year ago), and it still works very well and looks as good as when we first got it.

Have had this can for over a month and so far have had no issues, opens and closes fast and keeps the stink out. I bought an optional ac adapter as well, but had a few batteries I needed to use up first and there still working after a month of constant use. Also the pet lock comes in handy and keeps my cats from playing with the lid. So far so good, time will tell how long it will last. The price is a bit steep $200 for a garbage can but it looks really good and seems to function well.
