This game has a great design and excellent graphics. Unfortunately that's where the good stuff ends. It's very very simple and not challenging at all. I bought it for my 7 and 4 year old, hoping that they could both play it on different levels, but they were bored with it pretty quickly. They both went through it twice on the most difficult level (there are only three) and after that they didn't want to play it at all. The game doesn't go above single digits for additions and I haven't seen anything that use subtraction. Logic problem are very trivial too even for 4 year old. It's not a complete waste of money considering that it's not too expansive, but pretty close to it.

Pretty but limited
I bought this for my almost 7 year old and played it a little alone first. I thought the graphics were great, and the games seemed interesting enough... BUT.... I didnt realize there was so little to the game. My quick peek at it actually was almost to the end of it. Basically there are only 14 games (I think that's right) and once you've played them... its over. It took my son less than 2 hours to play this game (would have been faster but it was sometimes a bit slow changing screens, and we have a 1gig/Athalon pc.) He liked it cuz he's goal oriented, and solving the story makes it more interesting to him than the ones where you do tasks for no particular reason. But ... what now? A few more hours at different levels and we'll be done with this game....

Does run under NT 4.0
While the package says it is for Win 95/98, it does install and run under NT 4.0 (saying its NT 3.0 and I might have problems with NT) on my Dell 7500 laptop. The installer does want you to change to 256 color mode, but runs okay in 65,536 (16-bit) color mode.My 8 year old son loves this program.

Loving it!
I have two kids, 5 and 6, and had purchased one copy. They both loved it -- the 6 year old can do more of it by himself, but the 5 year old is getting it. The program offers a tangram kind of segment which allows the kids to manipulate geometric shapes, scales that want 3 addition problems solved simultaneously -- had to explain it on paper to the six year old and show him that it was addition they were doing to which he replied: 'oh, that's why they call it math quest." They have word problems and the kids have to put gems on a plate (There are 10 gems all together. Six are purple. There are an equal number of blue and white gems.) My five year old can't read yet, so I have to stand by to help her with that. Not a lot of practice with simple math, which is what I expected, but enough stuff that I wasn't expecting to keep the kids challenged and having fun. Bottom line -- it got enough play that I bought a second copy so each computer would have one and they weren't competing for turns.

A Very Entertaining Math Adventure Game
I have a 6 year old boy playing this educational game and he really likes it. The characters help the child solve the math problems andthey're very humorous. Graphics are excellent and it has several levels of difficulty. I highly recommend this game.

I use to struggle a great deal with math in elementary school
I received this game as a Christmas gift when I was in 2nd grade (1998). I use to struggle a great deal with math in elementary school. I loved this game (Aladdin was my favorite movie) and never knew it was suppose to be educational.

Great for shapes, numbers and addition
The first thing that stands out about this title is the sensational cinema quality video (like the disney cartoon of the same name). It is just so much more attractive than other cheap looking kids maths programs. The adventure set up is also a great hook for kids and gets them in much more than the usual maths exercises after unrelated maths exercise in other programs. It is excellent for shapes and numbers. Shapes/spatial/geometry is very well covered with games such as mosaics, geonyms (a type of mosaic competition against a computer opponent, and triangle (tangram type) key puzzles. Numbers are well covered in a 100 grid changing wall and throughout the program. Addition is also well done in a number wall, and a very entertaining crystal mixing logic game to make potions to release Aladdin from the genie vortex. All of these are suitable for younger children any my 5 year olds enjoy these (with some parental help). On the down side subtraction is only incidentally covered as a fall back when your kids make an addition error and need to backtrack. Also division and multiplication are only briefly covered and would not be to the third grade standard suggested in the documentation. However it is excellent to see that algebra is introduced in such a painless and novel way with the fruit trading game.Overall it is an excellent introduction to maths for children who already know their numbers to 30 or so and have had some exposure to math. If your kids are reluctant at maths but have seen the Aladdin DVD/Video they will soon become very interested using this excellent math quest program. The adventure/quest to rescue Aladdin and his friends is a great way to improve logic skills too and will particularly appeal to the goal directed child who is unwilling to do "pointless" homework exercises. Well worth getting if you're prepared to sit and help your kids at first.

Fun Math
This is the third copy of Disney's Math Quest with Aladdin that I have purchased. I home school my three children and they have worn out each disk in turn. It is my three-year-old's turn now. In order to continue to find the characters and items in the game, the player must use math skills such as greater than/less than, addition, subtraction, multiplication, patterns, shapes, sequences, mosaics, even finding a path on a grid and following directions. If you can stand the voice of the bird (who by the way is the voice of "Digit" on PBS's "Cyberchase")then even you will enjoy these games. Many are like an old carnival.
