Bought 12” for 12” flange and ceiling box… it is extremely tight and doesn’t seem to want to go on the flange or box? Am I missing something?

It is a tight fit I used it on mobile home went on fairly easy they do mention in the description it is used for mobile home so I'm not sure if it works on your application or not Hope this helps

can this be made explosion proof with wire clips? planning to use as vent for paint spray booth using flammable paints

This is where you get professional advice. Also don’t “roll you own” when it comes to explosion proof stuff. There are companies out there that make explosion proof stuff as well as paint booths. Their are various UL and NFPA requirements that have to be met. Look for used equipment, with this economy it is out there. There are ways of saving money, there are parts of this you can DIY, but you need someone who understands the hazards to do this safely. Also, anyone telling you how to do this without seeing what you want to do - does not know what they are doing.

Im making my own welding extractor, do you think that is going to work?

Yes, it should work for a welding extractor. Use duct tape between the ducting and the metal clamps to protect the ducting, otherwise the clamps can rip holes in it

Can this replace hvac duct work for a house

It will but I'd advise not to. It's not insulated enough.
