Tempest 2000 for Atari Jaguar

The VERY, VERY Best On Atari Jaguar
This game is SO ADDICTING! It has such a tremendous hook—being an update to Dave Theurer’s original 1981 masterpiece. Jeff Minter developed the perfect replacement to one of Atari’s Golden-Age Arcade Games! I personally play Tempest 2000 on my Jaguar so much, the game might as well be soldered directly into the cartridge slot—NOT an exaggeration. And if James Rolfe was wondering about that monster on the cover, that is actually one of the enemies in the game: Demon Head—even the original Tempest had it. While it DID find life outside the Atari Jaguar—whether it is MS-DOS (Music played through the Ad-Lib Sound Card sounds like it would not be out of place on the Sega 32X either), Sega Saturn with redbook audio from the Official Soundtrack, or the rebranding of Tempest X3 on PlayStation, you have GOT to play the Atari Jaguar original! It’s a fun update to Tempest without changing the formula, and the inclusion of new power-ups, high score save keys, trippy visuals, why are you reading this review? To quote one of the game’s songs’ “Mind’s Eye’s” lyrics... “Play!”

Tempest 2000 on Jaguar is not only the best Jaguar game, it may be the best game of the entire 1990s. The game is based off the original Atari vector graphics Tempest arcade game. It features an amazing techno soundtrack, absurdly trippy bonus stages, and melt-o-vision graphics best served with a recreational cigarette. Released also on Saturn and PSX (as Tempest 3X) the Jaguar version is the best version, and features exclusive bonus stages. It is also compatible with Jaguar rotary controllers for those of you daring enough to hunt one down. Thank you Jeff Minter for creating this masterpiece of art.also see Space Giraffe on XBLA
