There's a reason I have the 2007 edition: it is one of the last complete versions
This wimp of a book has only 889 pages! My version, admittedly from 2007, has 5,086 pages of 8 pitch type. Take that! But with all the governmental simplification that has gone on in the last 8 years, pension regulation has become so simple that the 2007 version is overkill. As Rick Perry said at one of the debates, "Oops!" I missed that little line at the top "selected sections". There's a reason I have the 2007 edition: it is one of the last complete versions. I guess someone realized that a 5,000 page book was, shall we say, a bit unwieldy? On the other hand, government regulation by its very nature is supposed to be unwieldy. The best feature of this fascinating volume is its lengthy discourse (over 160 pages) in 1.401(a)(4)-1 through 1.401(a)(4)-9 on how to get around the prohibition against giving bigger benefits to the higher paid than the lower paid, as a percentage of compensation. Warren Buffett would love this part, if only his technical advisors would clue him in. Considering his objections to paying less taxes than his secretary, maybe they're afraid to bring it up. Or maybe for a guy in his circle, the difference would only be chump change.
