The idea of a bed which stays inflated using a silent second pump tempted me to investigate more. Unfortunately the ones I can find in the UK run on mains power and ironically this feature is most useful when camping because it is the reduction of temperature during the night which causes the loss of support by the morning. However, for off grid camping a solution is possible using a small 300W pure sine wave inverter and a 12v 12Ah LiFePO4 battery. I had to take a chance in buying this bed because the details of operation vary and the specification not very detailed. Having inflated the bed to test it I thought I would give some details here using an inverter to supply mains power. This is for the AlwayszAire Queen model 67624 bought Jan 2026 To inflate check the rubber manual inflation bung is fully inserted, check the dial is in the off position and plug into the mains/inverter. The bed takes virtually no power at this stage and the second pump is disabled. Turn the dial to inflate and the high power pump runs. It is fairly loud but not as loud as other air beds I have used. Using the 300W inverter I noticed the DC power was about 10 to 12 amps at 13v (140W) but it will be vary with inverter model. After 3 to 4 mins the yellow inflated light turns on and the bed is firmly inflated. At this point the dial should be turned to off otherwise like a standard self inflating air bed it will continue to inflate. It is now most important that the mains remains connected as the bed will start the second pump if the pressure falls too low. During this monitoring phase there is virtually no power consumption unless you use the usb 500mA sockets to slow charge phones etc. Now if the power fails and is reconnected whilst still fully inflated the blue and yellow leds light for a few seconds and the blue light goes out and bed continues to monitor pressure. However, if the mains goes off for too long and the bed deflates below the point when the yellow light comes on, when the power reconnects the yellow light flashes and the bed will not maintain pressure as the second pump does not come on. To test the always firm function I let some air out using the manual inflate valve. This must be done slowly and you must not use the dial to deflate as I saw the test done on the shopping line. On my model if you don't do this the second will not come one. Once the air is slowly let out the yellow light will go off and the blue light will come on. Immediately this happened I made sure that the manual valve was closed as the bed may not run the second pump if it detects a serious leak. The bed still felt very firm as the second pump runs. You can just hear it run if your ear is close to the pump and may be feel a slight vibration on the bed immediately above. If a very light sleeper it may be better to have the pump at the bottom of the bed and you then could not hear or feel it run. During this phase my inverter was taking 0.72A but on standby it takes 0.56A so the power taken is around 1 or 2 watts. The second pump and the blue light was on for about 30 mins then turned off as the yellow light lit as it re-enters pressure monitoring mode. Note most of the power taken during the night will be to keep the inverter on standby in my case about 5Ahrs per night. Unfortunately, it will not possible to switch the inverter on and off periodically to save power so I recommend getting an inverter with low standby current or of course connect to grid mains. In my case a 100W solar panel will restore the power in 1 hr full sun to 5hrs full light cloud. So far have only tested that the bed function and that it has no significant leaks. I will update this review if I get quality or comfort issues over many nights when the camping season starts. Although it is a queen bed I inflated it on top of a king bed mattress and it is nearly an exact match. It appears very good quality, has a high weight limit and is good value compared with competitive dual pump beds. All air beds used to date are always soft in the morning I am confident this is a good solution. It can be used without mains or inflated to any point of firmness but if you need the never deflate function you have to be content with the preset firmness. We like a firm mattress so I feel this will be comfortable.

Best sir bed we have ever used just top up each night about 30 seconds an just perfect doesn’t go down while your asleep doesn’t make awful noises when moving so impressed easy to inflate about 3-4 mins dame to deflate excellent product

I used this airbed for about a week, including several consecutive nights, and overall I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. It was comfortably supportive enough for a 4–5 day stay without feeling like a temporary “just for one night” solution. One thing I was initially concerned about was the typical plastic smell that many inflatable beds have. There was some smell when first unpacking it and especially while deflated, but once fully inflated and left that way, it became very minimal and wasn’t bothersome during use. Air retention was genuinely impressive, I used it for multiple days in a row and didn’t need to top it up with extra air, which was a big plus. It held its shape and firmness well throughout the week. My only real downside is the noise level during inflation. The pump is quite loud, so if you’re setting it up late at night in a flat or somewhere with close neighbours, it could definitely be disruptive. In terms of durability and overall build quality, I have no complaints so far. After a week of use, it still feels solid and well-made. I’d happily use it again for guests or short stays.

bought it for camping it's been used a couple of times and it seems fine. it's comfortable and the increased height makes it easier for these old bones to get up in the morning

Item j received not as described. No secondary pump. On the third use developed a leak and needed reinflating half way through the night. The pump is quite noisy. In the process of returning for a refund. On the plus side when it was insisted it was very comfortable and easy to get on and off. We searched for a leak in the fabric but could not find one so concluded that the pump was leaking and therefore not repairable by us

Used for 12 nights camping after buying it about a month ago, giving great comfort and this over a wide range of temperatures. Excellent quality. It the first air bed of many, way too many, tried over the years that we didn’t need to top up a single time. Contrary to a couple of other reviews I can confirm it definitely comes with full instructions. Once fully inflated with the main pump (as noisy as any other but it only takes a few minutes), if left plugged into the mains with pump in the 'off' position (a bit counterintuitively) it uses a separate, almost silent, built-in pump to maintain firmness. When it's topping up like this the little green light turns blue. I only witnessed this a couple of times though, once provoked by me deflating a little to test it. I couldn't say whether it's just great quality and didn’t require much auto-topping up or if it was just doing more often without us noticing, the secondary pump really is that quiet, but either way the results are the same, the bed was as firm from the start of the first night to the morning of the last. If there is any minor issue, it is just that my partner found it a tad too firm for her taste but would still prefer this firm and reliable bed over most of the previous beds we've tried. I don't write many reviews but we've tried so many of these and it's so bewildering deciding which to buy, I wanted to help others. Seriously, look no further!

So Which magazine said this was one of the most comfortable beds they had ever slept on there is a couple of youtube videos showing hunky austrailians saying how good it is. Sadly said Australians are an optional extra and do not come with it. Your first problem will be working out how to get it out of the over engineered box, just rip the side off without breaking your fingers, trust me this thing was never going to get damaged in transit. It is heavy , comes with a flimsy storage bag, 1 patch (poor show Bestway) and an instruction leaflet showing how to fold it to put it into said flimsy bag. The first thing you will notice is the terrible acitone smell which will pass with time and I did not notice when laying on it. There does seem to be some confusion from some people about how to use it so here is how. Set dial to off position and connect to the mains. Turn dial to inflate and the pump starts up. Yes it is noisy but no more than any air pump. The green led light will flash, when it turns solid it as reached the correct pressure and you move the dial to the off position but leave it connected to the mains. This allows the secondary pump to maintain the pressure. You will know when this is happening because the blue led light will come on. This is the only way you will know the secondary pump is active because it is completely silent. In fact I thought it was not working but when I put my hand over the vent I could feel it sucking in air. There are a couple of usb ports for charging phones etc and a tiny (pointless) night light. Apart from the odd creak it does not feel like an air bed and with a king-size fitted sheet ,my cheap IKEA duvet and my posh pillows from home it was very cosy and comfortable with room for an additional hunky Australian had one been in the box (it was tough enough to hold a human). To deflate turn the dial to deflate and go and have a coffee. It does come with a manual valve and I did try it out with a hand pump. Dont too much like hard work. So I have completed my Glamping set up and at the special offer price it's good value .

I've slept 5 nights out of 7 on my current camping trip. I bought as the self inflating mat we normally use was just about good enough for 5 nights camping but I was very achey by the 4th/5th day. Our next planned trip was 7 nights and hated to think what my hips would have felt like at the end of that 😅 Anyhow I purchased and inflated at home and left it up for a hour or so, tested (by myself and dog) and then deflated and packed away for holiday. It's so easy and simple to use and packs down to a reasonable size. It is bulky and heavy though. Inflating and deflating takes about 4 min. The initial pump is noisy for this (like a cheap hairdryer) but the reinflating function is silent. The only reason I know it's gone into reinflating mode is because the led light goes from green to blue and I happened to spot it. The usb charger is slow but come be helpful if in a pinch and the 'torch' function is a single bright blue led bulb. That is adequate for lighting up to see the functions on the end of the bed or seeing the usb port. The bed is comfortable and has maintained itself brilliantly. Me and my husband are both over 90kg each and our dog is 30kg. It has not deflated and we've slept brilliantly for the last 5 nights. I think in cooler temps it may need a thermal mattress protector to help you keep warm as air beds are not great insulators. Some reviews have said the bed is too firm but we have a firm bed at home and have found it very comfortable. It's definitely not as firm as the floor 😅 I've not been this happy with a purchase for years!
