It works!!!
This works! I have a mare the vet said has IAD and likely will develop heaves. He wanted to put her on a bronchodilator it was so bad but at 200/month I couldn't afford it. I could barely ride her she would cough and wheeze so bad. I tried more expensive supplements, cough syrups, antihistamines. Nothing worked. I tried this because it was cheap and I figured why not. In two weeks her cough stopped. I kid you not. Her wheezing is gone and I can ride her now, and she doesn't cough at all. I highly recommend trying this product.

It really does work!
We have older Tennessee Walker who has a hard time dealing with dust from the round bales. The cough free supplement makes a huge difference for him! Definitely start out with the loading dose of 2 scoops, but for maintenance, 1 scoop in his feed is just fine. It does have a very โdistinctโ smellโalmost like black licorice? But when itโs mixed with a little bit of regular feed, our old boy doesnโt seem to mind at all.

Works for us
This has really helped my mare through the summer allergy season I've purchased it 3 times already. It has a strong smell, but I wet the alfalfa pellets with this and vet prescribed benadryl and it keeps the cough to a very minimum. I ran out one time and the cough returned shortly after.

Strong smell makes this difficult to use
Bought this after my horse developed a dry cough recently, thinking a pelletized supplement would be easy to administer. When I opened the container the strong smell made me think, wow, that's going to be hard to disguise. Actually it is impossible to disguise, it does not matter what you add to it to make it taste better because they can smell it a mile away. Even this greedy eater will not touch it after having no choice for several feedings. (I even put peppermint candy it in, which she loves, with no luck.) I can't imagine how this made it out of feeding trials. I have to assume that none were conducted. I expect better from Farnam. I had read previous reviews about the powder form that people said worked well but since it was switched to pellets it is not effective. Don't know if they changed the formula. In any case, if they will not touch it it is useless. Update: After putting several pieces of unwrapped peppermint candy in the jar to minimize the smell, it is a little easier to use. Also sprinkled with Stevia so have been able to get the horse to reluctantly eat it and have noticed a reduction in the cough. If only they would modify the formula it could be a good product.

Has worked like a charm.
My arena gets pretty dusty, so this definitely helps during an after exercising and a relatively dusty arena. Itโs pretty effective noticed a decrease in coughing and it does seem to be a great quality. However, the smell is very strong and I hate it. It does not smell very lovely, but I donโt have any issues with getting my guy to eat this with his grain.

Very Effective BUT need creativity to get horse to eat it
This product made a huge difference in my horse's cough as promised. The only problem was that other reviews were right: really does not like how it tastes or smells. I tried a few different combinations: molasses, applesauce, with peppermints and had no luck! Crushing it also not a good idea my horse REALLY hated that. The product advises to start on 2 scoops a day. Other professionals will tell you to add any new supplement slowly into food so horse gets used to it. The first two weeks at two scoops were a pain in the ass to get into her but I noticed a big difference in her cough so I kept at it! What finally worked was giving one scoop with feed and mixing it with W3 oil from Mad Barn. She finds that very easy to eat. The "smell" other reviews are referring to is the Sulfur. This is commonly used in respiratory infections in horses. In this supplement it is a much smaller maintenance dose combined with other ingredients in the product. If you're having a hard time getting horse to eat keep trying...it's worth it!
